    God's Wake-up Call

shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the

    brightness of his coming:

9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all

power and signs and lying wonders,10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that

perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they

    might be saved.

11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they

    should believe a lie:

It suddenly struck me that the criterion for salvation is not receiving

the truth but having a love of the truth. Paul says here theyreceived not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

Everybody has a little or a lot of truth, NOT EVERYBODY PUTS

THE TRUTH FIRST! That is what is wrong!!

Think about it a while. For many years I held on to spurious

doctrine because I just did not think my grandfather, my dad, and a

plethora of professors, Bible teachers and commentators, my church

superiors, my peers in the ministry could all be fundamentally

wrong. I DO NOW! I WAS WRONG!!!

I have come to believe that spiritually, by the Holy Spirit,

intellectually, by research and study, and experimentally, by seeing

    the result in my life.

That is what this book is all about. I repent and I want to give you a

short-cut to truth. I want to save you from grief but most of all I

want to save you from Hell, or at least point you to the One who can

only do that if you yield to Him who is the Personification of Truth.

That last paragraph brings to mind the fact that I have not dealt with

the very important issue of whether a believer, who has been born

again and has tasted of the heavenly gift, and has been made partaker

    3

    God's Wake-up Call

of the Holy Ghost, has tasted the good word of God, and the powers

of the world to come, if such a person can lose their salvation?

According to Hebrews 6:4,5 the answer is a resounding YES!

Not only is that supported by scripture but scripture teaches that in

such a case there is no way back again to grace.

Now I am aware that this is an ongoing argument between the

Armenian and Calvinistic factions of Christian doctrine. If Paul had

lived a little later I am convinced he would have included Calvin and

Arminius in his list of denominational divisions in 1Co 1:12. He

calls those kinds of divisions carnal or fleshly (1Co 3:4). Thedivisions are multiplied astronomically today. I depend on the Word

    of God in EVERYTHING!

Heb 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and

have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy

    Ghost,

5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to

    come,

    God's Wake-up Call

6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing

they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an

    open shame.

7 For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and

bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receivethblessing from God:

8 But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto

cursing; whose end is to be burned.

I have listened to Doctors of Reformed Theology too but they are

wrong when they say that Hebrews 6 applies to unbelievers who

have never really been saved, but you read it again (above) GOD'S

WORD on it is clearseeing they crucify to themselves the Son ofGod afresh, and put him to an open shame.

God says they received the grace of God through Jesus'

crucifixion once. This can only mean that they were once saved

but ever again, if they deliberately throw it away it there's no way

    back.

The object of this work is not to bring despair but hope in Jesus withthe fervent prayer that I shall awaken in as many as possible a

    genuine love of the truth.

May our Father grant my prayer in Jesus' name

Finally, this book is not intended to be, nor does it pretend to be an

academic or a scholarly work. It is just simply what I havediscovered about the Bible and what it says, over more than 60

years, since I first became aware that Jesus was a real Person and

that he loved me enough to die for my sins and draw me to Himself.

Fortunately for me he is patient and long suffering beyond belief or

else I would not have lived to tell this story. Praise His Name!

    God's Wake-up Call

Lu 24:6 He is not here, but is risen:

    Chapter 1

    The Empty Tomb

1Co 15:17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in

    your sins.

Before the Lord enlightened me I wondered how in the world so

much hinged on Christ's resurrection. Surely the important thing was

    6

    7/117

    God's Wake-up Call

    His death for our sins.

Don't get me wrong, I firmly believed that Jesus rose from the dead

and I understood that if He could not keep His promise to rise up onthe third day (or any day for that matter,) He obviously could not

raise anybody else either. That is where my reasoning fizzled out

    with a faint pop!

For Jesus to rise up again from the dead at will was huge. I am not

diminishing that in the slightest. But Paul laid enormous weight on it

when he says, and if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are

    yet in your sins.

Then one day the penny dropped. I can't remember when it was or

who prompted it but suddenly I was faced with an enigma.

Now that I knew every word of God was pure in the English version

I read, and that I did not have to resort to re-translation using

concordances and commentaries and so on and on and on... what did

this mean? What did this mean? I thought that Jesus was begotten

by God when He was born into flesh and blood by the Holy Ghost

who equally is God, to his fleshly mother, Mary?

Then there is a disclaimer in John 3 3

3.Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except

a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.....

5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of

waterand of the Spirit, he cannot enterinto the kingdom of God.

Wait a minute! Wasn't Jesus born of the spirit when He was

conceived of the Holy Ghost? I confess this idea was beyond me

but my finite mind was trying to grind out infinite reasoning. The

only way anyone can grasp infinite truth is to have it revealed by the

One who is infinite. So I began to Google my Bible (excuse the

mixed metaphor) in search of any scripture that would enlighten me

    God's Wake-up Call

as to when Jesus the Son of God BECAME the Son of God by God's

    begetting.

    I checked out these verses:

Ps 2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my

Son; this day have I begotten thee.

Ac 13:33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath

raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art

my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

Heb 1:5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art mySon, this day have I begotten thee? And again,I will be to him a Father,

and he shall be to me a Son?

Heb 5:5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but

he that said unto him, [i.e. the Father] Thou art my Son, to day have I

    begotten thee.

Heb 2:10 For it became him, for whom are all things,[i.e. the Father] and

by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make thecaptain of their salvation perfect [complete] through sufferings.

1Co 15:20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the

    firstfruits of them that slept.

21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of

    the dead.

22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward

they that are Christs at his coming.

Pardon me? But this seems to be teaching that the same process

used to bring Christ to be the Begotten Son of God is the process that

adds all believers to God's begotten sonship by adoption. That is the

    resurrection of the body.

Now back to the Bible's teaching on Jesus' begetting:

    God's Wake-up Call

Ps 16:10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer

thine Holy One to see corruption.

Ps 49:9 That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.

Ac 2:27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou

suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

    [Paul enlightens us:]

Ac 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that

his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

Ac 13:35 Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer

thine Holy One to see corruption.

If you have not yet connected the dots it has to do with this clear

    statement:

1Co 15:50 Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot

inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption (rotting and

dying) inherit incorruption (never rotting and dying).

Not even the flesh and blood of the Lord Jesus who first wasborn to a woman, could inherit the Kingdom of God which isin another dimension, in the spiritual realm. To inherit or livein that realm one must be re-born into the realm of the spirit. What Jesus told Nicodemus now starts to make sense.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be

born ofwater and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the

    Spirit is spirit.

7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

Nicodemus did not have the faintest idea what Jesus was talking

about, and for years neither did I and I am taking a rough punt

that many of my readers did not up until now.

    And this:1Co 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits;

    9

    10/117

    God's Wake-up Call

afterward they that are Christs at his coming.

Jesus was born-again as the firstfruits of many brethren when He

rose from the dead. That is when Psalm 2:7 was fulfilled.

The promise of God that those who believe in, trust in and rely on

Jesus will also be born again relates to our sharing in His new birth.

that is what the epistle to the Ephesians is all about when it says:

Eph 2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in

    heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

It is speaking in prospectabout our inheritance in Jesus as believers. It speaks in past tense because, for God to think to do it, is the

same as if it is already done. As when He says of Jesus that He was

the... the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. Re 13:8

Before Jesus came into the world the whole plan of Salvation was

in God's mind a done deal.

So when the Bible says Joh 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye

must be born again. It is speaking in prospect of what we are NOW

by FAITH that will be consummated at Christ's coming in FACT.

The Holy Spirit is our earnest or down-payment ( a receipt as good

as money that you can take to God's bank and borrow against.)

Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth,

the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were

sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the

purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. [i.e. at His coming]

So you see, the empty tomb is the mark of His resurrection work.

Jesus said Joh 5:17, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. His

work is present continuous, eternally sustaining those who trust him

in the kingdom of God for eternity. (Php 4:19 )

    God's Wake-up Call

THAT IS WHAT THE EMPTY TOMB IS ALL ABOUT

It is tangible proof that Jesus is risen. It makes us rush to look in our

tabernacle safe or purse to see if our down payment has arrived,i.e. the seal of the Holy Spirit.

All these analogies are confusing. Wakey! wakey! The Holy Spirit

uses analogies in God's word all the time. Figures of speech,

Parables, etc., etc. Here's one that may clarify a little:

Mt 25:14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far

    country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one;

to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his

    journey.

16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the

same, and made them other five talents.

17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his

    lords money.

19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckonethwith them.

20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five

talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have

gained beside them five talents more.

21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou

hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many

things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou

deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talentsbeside them.

23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast

been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things:

enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there

    thou hast that is thine.

26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful

servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I

have not strawed:27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and

    11

    12/117

    God's Wake-up Call

then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath

    ten talents.

29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have

abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even thatwhich he hath.

30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be

    weeping and gnashing of teeth.

No it's not about money. It's a parable about the Holy Spirit given to

the believer who is given a spiritual gift for multiplying souls to the

Kingdom of God in a way or ways that before the Holy Spirit came

to dwell within him he could have only wished for. I know itdoesn't make good grammar but it does make good sense.

It is about huge spiritual productivity on a scale that could only be

    miraculous.

You see when the Holy Spirit comes to reside He brings God's

Company Credit card. But it is only validated for things in line with

God's will and God's Kingdom. The man that was too timid to spendGod's credit lives in Matthew 25:30. and I don't like where he's

    going.

Our research doesn't tell the Devil anything he has not researched

years before us and he is ready with his additions to our liveliest

    discoveries about God's truth.

    Chapter 2

    A Great Awakening.

GOD SPEAKS TO ME IN MY EARFROM TIME TO TIME.

That does not make me unique, I have become convinced that he

talks in the ear of everyone from time to time it is just that most of us

    don't listen.

I don't know why we don't listen I think (correct me if I am wrong..)

that most of us just think we don't rate in God's gigantic agenda for

the world, somehow we are not worthy of His notice. But that is not

true and here is the Bible foundation for that:

Mt 10:29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall

not fall on the ground without your Father.

    God's Wake-up Call

    And again:

Mt 10:30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

Let me illustrate this if you will pardon personal stories betimes.

One night I was riding my motorcycle home from work. (I worked

at sign writing for a large part of my ministry life to supplement

support for my family.) It was dark and I was travelling on a

through road with an intersecting road to the left coming up.

Because it was knock off time there was a lot of traffic oncomingwaiting to turn in front of me at the intersection. They were waiting

because I had right of way. All was fine until I heard or rather

imagined, or imagined I heard in my right ear STOP!!! As I

write I imagine I hear it again very, very loudly. No mistake, no

doubt, no hesitation I applied the front and rear brakes on the

motorcycle and slackened speed suddenly as I could without

    skidding.

Right then I saw in my headlight a car with an impatient driver,

behind the lead car, turn suddenly out to his right crossing in front

of me. I don't know if the driver saw me then but his left side

passenger did. He thought he was about to be T Boned. His jaw

popped open and he bared his tonsils to me as he swept on his way.

    God's Wake-up Call

How do I know it was God that yelled at me and actually saved my

life? It might just have been a freaky coincidence. Yeah right! And

if that is what you think that is why you rarely, if ever, hear from

God directly. That was not the first time I heard directly from God,so although over the years I haven't heard like this more than a

handful of times each year. The fact that I had some past experience

must have accounted to some extent for the way I jumped to obey

    when God shouted.

I had been practising listening for God's voice and every once and a

while I heard Him speak to me. That was the only time He shouted

though and I have usually found Him speaking to me through Hisword, or when I am meditating on His word or praying. Just once

in a while when I am least expecting it His voice breaks in on an

unrelated train of thought with an insight into my need and speaks to

    me in my ear.

    SUDDENLY GOD SPOKE

It was like that about ten years ago when I was engaged in my

secular pursuit of sign-making, in the office, and any thought of

study and Bible set aside for the time being when God broke into my

thoughts and said, You don't know anything about the texts that

    underlie the Bible do you?

I was startled shocked and ashamed all at the same time. Here was

I, a Pastor teaching other Christians and in intense guilt, I realised

that this was true! I had no right to be teaching something that I was

    not doubly sure of myself.

    GOD AWAKENED ME THAT DAY!

I immediately promised the Lord that I would take steps to research

the issue and discover the truth about the underlying texts of the

    15

    16/117

    God's Wake-up Call

Bible for myself. My prayer right then was Please Lord help me to

find the resources. That was a turning point in my life.

How I wished I had been given the challenge thirty years before, andyet, back then I was weaker and surrounded by doubters and their

peers. These scholars, almost violently, defended the position

that, the only inerrant, wholly inspired scriptures were the

originals in Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic.

    I WAS CONFUSED

Whenever I asked, I was informed that the original texts were long

gone, worn to pieces and now non-existent.

We had some copies and copies of copies and bits and pieces of

copies etc. in which the truth existed (probably hidden) if we could

only learn the Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic languages and study the

writings of the textual historians who gathered them and somehow

had the ability to discern which were the most reliablemanuscripts surviving today.

The further I went into this, the more confused I became. Years

before when I began preparation for ministry, I had decided to go to

a Bible College that did not require Greek and Hebrew for graduation

simply because I thought, probably correctly, that I had not the

ability to learn a couple of archaic languages one of which was not

even spoken in its Bible form, koine Greek. I used to joke along

with those wags who were always telling of Granny, who said If

the King James Bible was good enough for Saint Paul it is good

enough for me. We would all laugh and leave it at that. But I

would in my heart of hearts wonder if the verse in Matthew was right

when it said: But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not

live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the

mouth of God. (Matt 4:4 )

    God's Wake-up Call

    HOW COULD GOD

HOLD US RESPONSIBLE IF HIS WORD

    IS NON-EXISTENT?

How could it be? How could God hold us responsible for living up

to statements He made that today could not be found?....Must have

been a figure of speech. The Bible is loaded with figures of

speech, but if He literally meant it then....

I thought to myself that seems out of character with the just and fairGod that I knew, though I did not know where every word of God

was or even if it existed today.

I had a Concordance and a Lexicon and that gave me a bit of

confidence with my Greek and Hebrew literate buddies in ministry,

as long as I did not open my mouth too much in areas with which I

    was not familiar.

This led to my quoting a lot from Greek and Hebrew scholars. I didnot know if they were right or not. I looked at the sources of their

degrees and if they were from the right evangelical schools most of

the time their quotations got the heart foundation tick and I got by.

But I personally was not convinced and was timid when it came to

formulating sermons and lectures on the basis of thus saith the

    Lord.

I BELIEVE THIS BIBLE FROM COVER TO

COVER IS THE HOLY, ABSOLUTE, WORD OF

    GOD! .Uh, O-OH?

How could my preacher peers, whom I respected and revered slap

their bibles and hold them up before the congregation and say with

force and seeming conviction. I believe this is the Holy Word of

    God's Wake-up Call

God! From cover to cover! I believe every word of it! Then tell

me the original texts were non-existent.

Though I must say, as the King James Bible fell out of popular use,

during my lifetime and the so called New Bibles came to

popularity there were fewer and fewer Bible thumpers of this sort.

As I look back on it though, and I just thought of this, as I write this

sentence, I clearly remember that God's challenge to me was not

that I did not know the Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic, but that I did

not know anything about the texts that underlie the Bible. At the

time I did not see the distinction nor know what it implied.

I was determined however to honour my promise to God, that if He

would help me discover the truth concerning the Bible texts I would

diligently research the materials He would help me discover.

In the next ten years I was amazed at the amount of information that

came my way. By this time the Internet was not only available buthad become user friendly and I became aware of other believers who

had also been challenged by God to investigate what turned out to be

the greatest fraud perpetrated on the Christian Church since the Devil

uttered those tragic words to Eve Yea, hath God said, (Gen 3:1.)

Here are some of the sources that came across my path. Rather than

Let me hasten to add a caveathere, if you bother to check out the

language and scurrilous behaviour reported in some of the abovewebsites on occasion. However I was looking for TRUTH not

perfect models of Christian charity so I thought because I find gold

in some grubby dealer's hands I shouldnt blame the gold. My father

used to say Gold is where you find it.

Since I began to work on this book I have sadly had to review my

endorsement of Gail Riplinger's contribution to my own developmentin this area. I am grateful for her input through her book in the early

days, even though I discovered not a few errors and misquotations

in her bookNew Age Versions and when I emailed her revealing my

findings I received no reply. But of recent times things have

deteriorated and I leave you to read at the following URL(if you

want) for the explanation as to why I now cannot endorse her work

or doctrinal position. This report is so sordid that I did not includeeven excerpts here and if you will take my word for it you might not

need to read the report. It is clear that having lied repeatedly over a

long period of time without repentance, that she has shown herself to

be a liar. (Someone who lies incidentally and afterward confesses to

God and corrects themselves is not a liar habitual and unrepentant

liars are mentioned Re 21:8 if you read this quotation and it makes

you nervous go immediately to God in repentance and ask Him to

give you power never to lie again.)

    God's Wake-up Call

But Boris some of our latest bibles are abit of a stretch even for my imagination

    Chapter 3

    GREAT AWAKENING CONTINUES

    THE LORD SLAPPED MY HAND

He does that for me from time to time too. You probably did not

need the teacher to slap you to wake you up at school. I did. I

remember the fright, surprise and indignity of the experience now. I

needed it of course, to help me focus on the task in hand and I still

    do.

The other week the Lord slapped me a good one again. I lost the

first writing of this book with all its notes and research in a series of

computer misadventures which could probably been avoided if I had

been listening to that still small voice.

When it happened I thought disaster had struck, but very soon after I

    21

had collected myself I realised again that with God there are no

emergencies. He is even in control of computer crashes. I came to

the conclusion that my Lord did not approve of the first draft and

after prayerfully considering the situation I believe the Lord wouldhave me approach the task differently. (This conclusion has since

been verified and my position has slightly changed on one or two

issues.) So this is not a copy but a rewrite of the original theme and

message. I am not suggesting that this is going to be holy writ as

is the word of God but there is an example of God restoring writings

    ofHis words:

Jer 36:9 .in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah. [Then read this passage all the way down to verse 32 ]

Then took Jeremiah another roll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son

of Neriah; who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of

the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire: and there

were added besides unto them many like words.

Jehoiakim's fire was in those days equivalent to a total computer

crash and the content just as irretrievable ..but God was able not

only to replace His words but to add to them many like words

because God never forgets anything accidentally and His recall is

    100% accurate.

Please Lord, as the little boy said when he first saw lightening, Do

it again God, do it again!!

I began in Chapter 2 to deal with my becoming aware that there wassomething wrong, seriously wrong with the plethora of bibles we

have in use in the churches today.

God brought it to my attention and also He began to bring across my

path, teaching from various sources some of which are listed later in

this book. However, I was confused before I saw the form of

Antichrist taking shape behind the new bibles and what they were

achieving in the Laodicean church age in which we live. I want to,

    God's Wake-up Call

The 1994 Catechism of the Catholic Church declares:

"It is clear therefore that, in the supremely wise arrangement of God,

sacred Tradition, Sacred Scripture, and the Magisterium of theChurch are so connected and associated that one of them cannot

stand without the others. Working together, each in its own way,

under the action of the one Holy Spirit, they all contribute effectively

to the salvation of souls." (Pg. 34, #95) (emphasis mine)

    Anglicans say:

The Bible is the inspired word of God, containing all things

necessary for salvation, and is the final authority andunchangeable standard for Christian faith and life.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglican_Church_in_North_America

The free and independent churches traditionally hold that the

Bible is the Word of God and the only rule for Christian faith

    and practice.

Following is a general outline and by no means complete:

Sacramental churches appeal to the Bible as their final authority but

    25/117

    God's Wake-up Call

in practice interpretation does not get past the top of the

    hierarchical level.

Free Churches largely hold that their church statement of faith and orconstitution is the final arbiter in doctrinal disputes.

I have already alluded to Jesus' standard for faith and practice in

Chapter 2, here it is again:

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone,

but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. (Matt 4:4 )

BUT EVERY ONE HAS A DIFFERENT BIBLE?

In practice I see that every one has a different Bible. So the burning

question is , Where is every word of God to be found? IT HAS

TO BE SOMEWHERE God is unfair and unjust to expect us to keep

His word if we just don't have it and we could only conclude that He

is impotent if He could not preserve it. (Ps 105:8 )

Before I ever began my research on the texts that underlie the Bible I

had observed that the Christian world was swamped with Bibles that

all had different words to a large degree. Just how many differences

there were I had never bothered to check though I knew there were

    more than a few.

So the question occurred to me If there is a complete word of God

where is it? Was Granny right when she said Saint Paul had chosen

the King James Bible as God's word ( I say that tongue in cheek(.)

However there were a lot of respected Bible teachers I had come

across who believed that the King James was the only worth while

translation. Rev. Murray Downey, my teacher in Bible at the

Alliance Bible College used to often say Oo, Ooo don't forget to

read your King James Bible. I have since suspected that he thought

    25

  • 7/27/2019 002 God's Wake-Up Call Fix

    26/117

    God's Wake-up Call

it to be the one Bible that God blessed. I have also discovered

since that the Alliance powers that be issued dire warning against

those who would teach that the KJV was the only valid Bible in

    English.

Then God brought across my path, so to speak, Gail Riplinger's

    bookNew Age Versions.

In spite of it's faults it woke me up to the fact that all the new

versions were critically different in the words they used at times,

even changing the meanings of the words of the King James Bible on

    which I had been raised.

When I was nine years old my Dad gave me a paper back Gospel of

John that I read and re-read until it was tatty and dog eared. Ever

since it has been my favourite Gospel and I suspect that it was my

familiarity with John's Gospel that alerted me to changes in those

early days of reading the NASB and later NKJV. I was

uncomfortable but as God had said to me I just did not know

anything about the texts they came from nor what the significance of

    the difference was.

    THE DIFFERENCES MEAN SOMETHING

If it were only that these translators and editors of the bible were

making changes in order to copyright their work this would be bad

enough as God prohibits this in:

Deuteronomy 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you,

neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the

commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

and also the last part of Revelation 22:

Re 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the

prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shalladd unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this

prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of

the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

In the parable of the tares Mt 13:28 even though the men slept whenthe enemy came there was no doubt in their minds when the master

    spied the result:

Mt 13:28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this.

There are some things that are just as obvious in the modern bibles.

    An enemy hath done this:

    COMPARISON UNCOVERS THE

    SIGNIFICANCE OF THE CHANGES

Many have written volumes listing the differences in the texts, the

omission and additions to the text that was for 400 years since 1611

accepted by the evangelical Christian Church as the Holy and wholly

    inerrant Bible.

The changes are extensive and relate to the various objections raised

by the disbelievers of NT history. They are aimed specifically at the

deity of Christ, the doctrine of the trinity, the identity of Satan as

Lucifer and Christ, the inerrancy of Scripture and so on.

This Bible (the KJV or Authorised Version) was blessed and used byGod to bring salvation to countless millions of believers world-wide

both in English and foreign languages (I am an English speaking

Australian so to me languages other than English are foreign).

The Authorised Version KJV, for 400 years plus was God's chosen

word in English which brought revivals through John and Charles

    Wesley; George Whitefield; Jonathan Edwards; Charles Finney;

D.L. Moody; Charles Spurgeon; General William and Catherine

Booth and many others. Eventually the Gospel was taken to the

    whole world.

So when I was confronted by these facts I had no alternative but toalign myself with the version God Himself had chosen to use. I

graduated to the place where I decided that the KJV was the best

translation available to the Christian believer ( for me ) today.

But I have to includeat least a sample of the many examples of the

arguments of other believers available on the Internet today:

Here is what Cornerstone Baptist Church argues at:

    http://www.cornerstonekjv1611.com.au/faq/index.php?

    sid=156&lang=en&action=artikel&id=93

1.1 Tim. 3:16 "And without controversy great is the mystery of

godliness: God was manifest in the flesh" Here the Bible says without a

doubt that God showed up on this earth in a flesh and blood body. Thats

what Christ professed when he said, "And he that seeth me seeth him that

sent me," (Jn. 12:45). However, the modern Bibles take the word "God"

out of the verse and substitute the words "who" or "he who" leaving doubt

as to whether Jesus was really God or not.

2.Luke 2:33 "And Joseph and his mother marveled at those things which

were spoken of him." This is the verse that the Lord used to convince me

about the differences in Bibles. Joseph was not Jesus father, God was (Lk.

2:49). The modern bibles, however, substitute the word "father" for the

word "Joseph" in this verse, thereby destroying Christs deity. They

instead corroborate the Pharisees accusation that Jesus was the bastard

son of Mary (Jn. 8:41) nice guys!!

3.1 Jn. 5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven. The Father,

the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." This is by far the

greatest verse on the Trinity in the Bible. It says clearly that Jesus Christ

and God the Father are one and the same God. However, the modern

Bibles remove this verse altogether. Of course, you wont be able to tell

that at first glance because they either split verse 6 in two, or verse 8 in

two. That way the verse count remains the same and yet one is missing.

    Chapter 4

    THE A.V. GOD'S

    PRESERVED BOOKOF BOOKS

This chapter reveals the way God led me ever closer to being

abandoned by the peers which I had, as I grew up spiritually in the

churches. If you seek for and hold to the truth when and where you

find it you will begin to realise what the words of Jesus really mean

when He says: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadethunto life, andfew there be that find it. (Mt 7:14)

It came to me somewhere along the way that God had brought this

version (translation) of the KJV into being supernaturally. I was

lying in my bed one night and my mind was fruitlessly going over

these things when all of a sudden as is God's want, He gave me a

word I had never heard of before, transmogrification. That is

all. When the Lord wants me to do the spade work, to dig around

and find something I otherwise would never have discovered on my

own, He just drops something in my In box.

Lots of things go in there from well meaning friends, neighbours andsometimes from the enemy. But something posted from the Lord

has a royal stamp it is significant and demanding of attention.

Next day I looked the word up

    http://www.thefreedictionary.com/transmogrification

transmogrify (trns-mgr-f, trnz-)tr.v. transmogrified, transmogrifying, transmogrifies

To change into a different shape or form, especially one that

    is fantastic or bizarre.

The word I looked up first had a chemistry application.Transmutation or Transmogrification is the ability to psychically turn

one substance into another substance. One with this ability could do

this one of two ways. The first version of this ability is MolecularTransmutation or Molecular Transmogrification, in which one

rearranges the molecules of objects, transforming them into

something that it is already similar to, such as water into hydrogen

and oxygen. The second version is called Atomic Transmutation or

Atomic Transmogrification, in which one rearranges the atoms of

objects to turn a substance into another substance entirely, such as

turning lead to gold or wood to diamond.

    http://theories.activatingevolution.org/swiki/wiki/index.php/Molecular_Transmutation

What it meant to me as I searched for answers to the question about

the preservation of every word of God was this. If God was

particular that we should obey His every word and all the later

English translations were different from the one that He had

obviously blessed for 400 years HOW COULD A SINCERE

BELIEVER KNOW WHICH, from all the bibles we have today,

    WAS GOD'S WORD?

HOWEVER IF GOD HADSUPERNATURALLY PRESERVED A

    PARTICULAR TRANSLATION

If He could have preserved every word of the original in an entirely

different language, English... The finished article need not be of

lesser value if we are changing lead into gold or water into diamond

for example and leaving alone the possibility of it being achieved God could! If God did it then...

THAT WOULD SEAL IT! no one would be able to make animprovement on the translation no matter how logical it sounded.

2Pe 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private

interpretation. The word interpretation here throughout the New

Testament means translation. But this would not be a privateinterpretation but one prepared and supervised, indeed controlled by

    God.

IF THE TRANSLATORS WERE BROUGHT TOGETHER BY

GOD, GUIDING THEIR SELECTION OF TEXTS AND

KEEPING THOSE HE WANTED BECAUSE THEY KEPT HIS

ORIGINAL WORDS, AND THEY FINISHED THE TASKUNDER HIS SUPERVISION THIS WOULD BE SO?

    The King James Version Translators

When the LORD God of Israel chose the prophets and

apostles of old to pen the Scriptures, He made His selection

with the utmost care. Faith, holiness, a love for truth and

inherent ability were the deciding qualities He looked for. In

other words the Most High looks within when selecting His

servants. That is how He always judges men.

1Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not onhis countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I

have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for

man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD

    looketh on the heart.

The Protestant translators of the King James Version were

providentially chosen by God in exactly the same way: firstly

for their faith, holiness and love of truth, and secondly fortheir linguistic abilities. In other words, they were TRUE

BELIEVERS. At their centre some 47 pious scholars were

involved. In addition many hundreds of Protestant ministers

and believing linguists throughout the UK assisted in the

great work. I cannot over stress the importance of that fact:

that FAITH IN GOD was the first and over-riding reason why

the Almighty chose the KJV translators for their sacred task.

It is totally inconceivable that the Almighty, who initially

inspired "faithful, holy men of God" to write the Scriptures in

the first place, would then - centuries later - hand over the

translating of those selfsame Scriptures to unbelievers and

sceptics. So I repeat: the translators of the King James

Version were MEN OF FAITH, who believed that the text

they were translating was, in fact, the WORD OF GOD!

"Thus started the greatest writing project the world has ever

known, and the greatest achievement of the reign of James I -

the making of the English Bible which has ever since borne

    his name." (Ref: L2)

veracity and authority of the word of God.

I urge you to obtain a copy of this book if you are serious about

discovering if the Authorised Bible is God's inspired word.

My recommendation comes with one word of caution. Peter S

Ruckman is a diamond in the rough, nevertheless a working

diamond that tips the drill-bits of those who are determined to drill

through bedrock in search of truth more precious than gold.

The jacket of the volume I have bears this recommendation:

With this work, Dr. Peter S. Ruckman answers every major attack on the

words of the King James text, as you have it, and shows that no man,

living or dead has ever proved one error in the text.

Formerly titled Problem Texts, this book gives you complete,

irrefutable and Biblical answers to the corrections or alterations of the

    King James Bible by

    Hebrew and Greek speaking apostates.

At this writing still available at: http://www.kjv1611.org/

Secondly: There would be no doctrinal

    contradictions in it.

It would not contradict itself nor would the New Testamentcontradict the Old Testament and vice versa.

I am not about to embark here, on a second book pointing out the

answers to the supposed contradictions in the Authorised version

alleged by the sceptics. I present one refutation only that is

commonly used as an example. This shows that if we reason from a

biblical position of faith in God and His word this text holds and is

    logically sound.

    and purpose

    .

While we are dealing with the English translation of the Authorised

version and hold that private re-translation is not up or grabs

within the Christian community at large, there is still a need torecognise that the New Testament was translated by select men from

    the Greek text.

The reliability of that Greek text is verified by the stamp of the Holy

Spirit on it as the solid foundation for the English. We have no

hesitation in relying on the work of those men, but pause to point

out the miraculous preservation of the text they used. Just one of the

supernatural characteristics of the New Testament AV Text is the use

    of the number 7.

Ivan Panin was born in Russia on December 12, 1855.

He was to devote over 50 years of his life painstakingly exploring the

numerical structure of the Scriptures, generating over 43,000 detailed,

hand-penned pages of analysis (and exhausting his health in the

process). He went on to be with the Lord in his 87th year, on October

    30, 1942.

    God's Wake-up Call

Only one city is named in this passage, Babylon, which in Greek

    contains exactly 7 letters.

    ..

    Gemetria

There are even more features in the numerical structure of the words

themselves. As you may know, both Hebrew and Greek uses the letters

of the alphabet for numerical values. Therefore, any specific word - in

either Hebrew or Greek - has a numerical value of its own by adding up

the values of the letters in that particular word. The study of the

numerical values of words is called gemetria.

The 72 vocabulary words add up to a gametrical value of 42,364, or 7 x6,052. Exactly. If one Greek letter was changed, this would not happen.

The 72 words appear in 90 forms - some appear in more than one

form. The numeric value of the 90 forms is 54,075, or 7 x 7,725.

    Exactly.

We will defer other examples of gametrical properties of the Biblical

text for subsequent articles, but it becomes immediately obvious that

hidden below the surface are aspects of design that cannot be accidental

or just coincidence. Remember, the rabbis say that "coincidence" is not a

    kosher word!

THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN IN THE GREEK TEXT OF THE NEWBIBLES!

THE EXISTING GREEK TEXT IN THE A.V.

    IS PERFECTLY PRESERVED

Most people who dismiss inspired translation set out to prove their

    39

point by referring to the existing texts. Lets face it that, outside of

God's direct intervention, is all we have. It is my contention that

God did intervene in the production of the KJV by specifically

calling on the use of the perfect Greek texts.

The ravages of time and careless hands have eroded and/or mutilated

all of the ancient texts that have in any way survived. God Himself

would know which Manuscripts and fragments of Manuscripts

    retained His word intact!

Scholars will not like that presumption because it reduces the

acceptance of the Authorised Version to acceptance by faith. Aconclusion based on faith not science. If you are just now agreeing

with the textual scientists don't let me hear you arguing for

Creation in 7 solar days because those of us who believe it, are

quite happy to dispense with science in favour of God's word in the

Creation issue. To be consistent we are bound to believe that God

could and did preserve every word of the NT Because He said

so. The only question to decide is in which Bible He did it. Acomparison of the contradictions, subtractions and additions in the

bibles subsequent to the KJV seals the question for ever.

But wait! Before we leave this subject. Remember the Scripture in

    Jeremiah 36

15 And they said unto him, Sit down now, and read it in our ears. So

Baruch read it in their ears.16 Now it came to pass, when they had heard all the words, they were

afraid both one and other, and said unto Baruch, We will surely tell the

    king of all these words.

17 And they asked Baruch, saying, Tell us now, How didst thou write

all these words at his mouth?

18 Then Baruch answered them, He pronounced all these words unto

me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.

    19 Then said the princes unto Baruch, Go, hide thee, thou and Jeremiah;

and let no man know where ye be.

20 And they went in to the king into the court, but they laid up the roll

in the chamber of Elishama the scribe, and told all the words in the ears

    of the king.

21 So the king sent Jehudi to fetch the roll: and he took it out of

Elishama the scribes chamber. And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes which stood beside the king.

22 Now the king sat in the winterhouse in the ninth month: and there

was a fire on the hearth burning before him.

23 And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves,

he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was on the

hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was on the hearth.

24 Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king,

nor any of his servants that heard all these words.

25 Nevertheless Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had madeintercession to the king that he would not burn the roll: but he would not

    hear them.

26 But the king commanded Jerahmeel the son of Hammelech, and

Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take

Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet: bLORD hid them.

27 Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, after that the king

had burned the roll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of

    Jeremiah, saying,

28 Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words thatwere in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned.

29 And thou shalt say to Jehoiakim king of Judah, Thus saith the

LORD; Thou hast burned this roll, saying, Why hast thou written

therein, saying, The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy

this land, and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?

30 Therefore thus saith the LORD of Jehoiakim king of Judah; He shall

have none to sit upon the throne of David: and his dead body shall be

cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.ut the

31 And I will punish him and his seed and his servants for their iniquity;and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and

    upon the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them;

    but they hearkened not.

32 Then took Jeremiah another roll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe,

the son of Neriah; who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the

words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire:

and there were added besides unto them many like words.

We have to note a couple of things in relation to this miraculous

event. Firstly the words of God had been destroyed, to all natural

sense and purpose, totally out of existence. But not out of God's

    mind.

Secondly God re-inspired them to Jeremiah which Baruch committedto a new document.

Thirdly God added. You missed that so I'll say it again: God added

    many more like words.

If God adds to His inspired words they will be like words, they will

be just as accurate, powerful and infallible as the first record. How

dare we cut them up with a pen knife again and burn them in part orin whole.

We not only have a perfectly preserved Greek Text but a perfectly

restored New Testament Words of God in English. Those experts

who after a few years of learning Greek assume that they can

perform a revision on the text or any part of it are peddling a

spurious private interpretation /translation. 2Pe 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.[i.e. translation]

    Everything has a use-by date!

    Chapter 5

WHY IS DATINGTHE NEW TESTAMENT IMPORTANT?

The short answer is because the relevance of all prophesy relates to

the people to whom the prophesy is given. To state an obvious

example; the prophesy of the Angel of Death:

Exodus 12:10 And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the

morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye

    43

    shall burn with fire.

11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes

on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in

haste: it is the LORDS passover.12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and

will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and

beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute

    judgment: I am the LORD.

The use-by date for the above prophesy was THAT NIGHT. If the

people heeded and acted on that prophesy a week later they would

have all been affected by their first-born dying.

There are many other really obvious prophesies in Scripture that

have come and gone; the universal flood for instance. God does not

expect anyone to build an ark and take the animals on board by twos

    and sevens today.

So in this we have discovered that there is an invariable rule for

understanding prophesy. The rule is this: All prophesy has a use-bydate unless it is otherwise stated.

    USE-BY DATES ARE CRUCIAL TO

    UNDERSTANDING

    NEW TESTAMENT DOCTRINE!

Because some NT prophesies are past their use-by date continuingto use those prophesies (writings) as a mandate for NT doctrine and

behaviour brings the users into error and dis-repute, and yet many

still do. Apostleship is one that comes to mind; but I am premature

here as I will deal with what the Bible teaches about this in a

    subsequent chapter.

Beginning on the next page is an approximation of the time line of

the New Testament which is crucial to understanding New Testament

doctrine. Ignorance of this leads to error and causes many otherwise

innocent believers to be seduced by lying spirits.

The way I escaped this was by the leading of the Holy Spirit. If He

had not given me a heads-up at a point when I was willing to listen

and take it in I would today be still wallowing in the slough of

Despond described by Bunyan. But now thankfully been there,

done that, took the tour but fortunately, praise God, stopped short

    of buying the tee shirt.

we don't need pinpoint accuracy to understand the implications.

And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead.

    Chapter 6

THERE CAN NEVER BE A REVIVAL OF

    PENTECOST

But wait a minute! I am not implying that I don't believe in revivaland EVERY REVIVAL IS GENERATED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT!

There have been many revivals since the Pentecost of Acts 2 and I

pray and work that there may be more. I can't bring them about but

the Holy Spirit absolutely can! Nor am I implying that I don't

believe in miracles. Miracles still happen today.

However there are some things, in the history of this planet and the

Church and the way God sees it from Genesis to Revelation, that can

    50

  • 7/27/2019 002 God's Wake-Up Call Fix

    51/117

    God's Wake-up Call

never be repeated. A universal flood for instance will never happen

again (once was enough you might say) but we know it was a

    oncer because God said so

Gen 9:13 I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a

covenant between me and the earth.

14 And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the

bow shall be seen in the cloud:

15 And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and

every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a

    flood to destroy all flesh.

There are other events in God's dealing with mankind that cannot berepeated, simply because their purpose is fulfilled. God will never

send His Son Jesus as a tiny baby. Next time He comes to visit our

planet it will be at first in vengeance. After He gathers His Elect

    from the four winds:

Matt 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be

darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall

from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then

shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man

coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they

shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of

    heaven to the other.

The thief comes unexpectedly but there is nothing in the Bible to

give us the understanding that He will come sneaking in quietly, quite the reverse. The timing is what is unexpected. In fact the

Bible states here unequivocally that He will come and shake the

whole house and wake the dead. More on this later.

    (1) So no more Flood and (2) no more away in a Manger no crib

Christ. We continue to memorialise it in the ordinance of the Lord's

table but, not as some falsely teach, Jesus is not sacrificed often as

    in the Eucharist

Heb 10:9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away

the first, that he may establish the second.

10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the

body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering

oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:

12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever,

    sat down on the right hand of God;

13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.

Though there is a cross forus to bear (Lu 9:23.)

    THERE IS NO MORE PENTECOST.

Many believers want to perpetuate this event calling the Holy Spirit

to fall again as He did on that fiftieth day after the Passover whichJesus celebrated with His disciples. But that was a landmark in

history that marked GOD'S OFFICIAL COMMENCEMENT OF

THE GIVING THE THE NEW TESTAMENT WORD OF GOD

through the inspiration of the Apostles by the Holy Spirit.

While the four Gospels appear in the NT before the writings of

Luke's Book of the Acts of the Apostles. The New Testament and,

Pentecost in Acts2 was chronologically first. It was Pentecost thatbrought authority (power) upon the Apostles for all their acts and

    writings.

Ac 1:8 But ye shall receive power [authority], after that the Holy Ghost

is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem,

and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

It is important to mark that because the mistaken notion of the many

    52

  • 7/27/2019 002 God's Wake-Up Call Fix

    53/117

    God's Wake-up Call

is to assign power (authority) to all the disciples who witnessed the

events of that first Pentecost. Here is the scriptural pattern for New

Testament believers who are not Apostles in Acts 19:

Ac 19:1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul

having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding

    certain disciples,

2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since [seeing that]

ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard

whether there be any Holy Ghost.

Paul expected that they would have been baptised and received the

Holy Spirit as this was the normal sequence of events for newbelievers.

3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they

    said, Unto Johns baptism.

4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance,

saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should

come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord

Jesus.6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on

them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

7 And all the men were about twelve.

Their teaching and conversion under Apollos was imperfect. Paul

demonstrates to them that the order of sound doctrine was that they

should follow the teaching of the Lord Jesus and remember that Jesus

taught Mt 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in thename of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

But please note that Paul's challenge to them in Ac 19:2Have ye received

the Holy Ghost since ye believed? NOT have ye received power

(authority.) These two things are not the same.

We observe the same conditions at Caesarea, Cornelius' house:

as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured

out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Thenanswered Peter,

47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which

have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then

prayed they him to tarry certain days.

However this WAS that, a partial fulfilment of that prophesy from

Joel however the part that relates to Pentecost has come and gone for

ever. It was accompanied by signs and wonders to mark the event

Some today preach a latter rain of the Holy Spirit, and outpouring

of the Holy Spirit marked by signs and wonders as was that initial

out pouring. Scripture does not support this without being

manipulated. There is no reference to signs and wonders in the

Bible in latter days BEFORE Christ's return. Except for the signs

and wonders predicted in 2Thessalonians 2.

After the Lord's earth stopping, earth quaking return (Mt 24:30)

there will be a revival in Israel and national repentance and return to

the Messiah they once rejected and hanged on a tree at Calvary and

God will pour out His Spirit on the believers of the nation Israel.

a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared,

    and taken.

14 Wherefore hear the word of the LORD, ye scornful men , that

rule this people which is in Jerusalem.

The refreshing that would come after the four hundred years since

God caused His Word to be spoken and written, closing the Old

Testament, was a reintroduction to the fresh Word of God out poured

by the Holy Spirit on the Apostles who were the recipients and

recordists of God's New Testament Word.

GOD CALLED THE APOSTLES TOGETHER ON

    PENTECOST

(Who rose up? The two who had met Jesus on the road to Emmaus see

    Luke 24:13)

Luke 24:33 And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem,

and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,34 Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.

35 And they told what things were done in the way, and how he was

known of them in breaking of bread.

36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them,

and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had

    seen a spirit.......

45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand

    the scriptures,

46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to

suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his

name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.48 And ye are witnesses of these things.

49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye

in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

50 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands,

    and blessed them.

51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them,

    and carried up into heaven.

We can see from this and parallel passages in Mt 28:16 ; and Mr16:14 that Jesus commissioned the eleven to wait in Jerusalem for

the coming upon THEM of the Holy Spirit.

They, the eleven (Apostles and later Paul) were especially ordained

to bring New Testament doctrine to the Church. This is a crucial

point in understanding Pentecost and its pivotal significance to

    doctrine.

    DIDN'T MATHIAS MAKE TWELVE?

Actually no we can't support this from Scripture. Remember that for

those of us who are believers in Jesus Christ and NOT believers in

the Church (see chapter 2) Scripture is the final arbiter.

HERE IS WHAT THE SCRIPTURES REVEALABOUT APOSTLESHIP.

Ac 1:15 And in those days [while they were waiting for the coming of

the Holy Spirit] Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, (the

number of names together were about an hundred and twenty,)

16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which

the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

17 For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry.

18 Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and

falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed

    out.

19 And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch as thatfield is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of

    blood.

20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate,

and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick let another take.[Ps 109:8

    ]

21 Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the

time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,

22 Beginning from the baptism of John, unto that same day that he

was taken up from us, must one be ordained to be a witness with us ofhis resurrection.

23 And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was

    surnamed Justus, and Matthias.

24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts

of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,

25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from

which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and

he was numbered with the eleven apostles.1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come , they were all with

    one accord in one place.

The eleven took this action before the Holy Spirit had been given

who was to lead them: Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he willguide you into all truth: (Joh 16:13)

If this is true let the Bible interpret itself, there will be more on this,

    let us see.

It is my contention that Paul was God's choice to fill the place of

Judas. If that is true scripture will confirm it.

Paul writes, and it can only be that he speaks of himself, he speaks

    so diminutively:

    God's Wake-up Call

2Co 12:2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the

body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God

knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.

3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I

cannot tell: God knoweth;)4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words,

which it is not lawful for a man to utter.

5 Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in

    mine infirmities.

We have seen the result of that sojourn in heaven with the Lord Jesus

he once persecuted; Paul wrote 14 books: Romans, 1 & 2

    Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians,1 & 2

Thessalonians, 1 & 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon and [I think]

Hebrews. About 50% of the New Testament and the greatest

influence on New Testament Doctrine of any of the Apostles.

What do we hear of Matthias' ministry teaching or preaching the

    gospel? nothing.

Was Matthias included with the record of the Apostles' activitiesthrough the New Testament Pentecost?.. No? Show me!

    O.K. how about this...

We have already established that the Apostles are in Acts called the

eleven. If there are no mistakes in the Bible record (apart from the

mistakes of the men of history like the tower of Babel and Judas'

betrayal of Jesus and subsequent suicide etc., etc.) but the recordingof the Bible narrative and doctrine is error free. See how the Bible

refers to the Apostles immediately after the election of Matthias by

    lot casting.

Ac 2:14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and

said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be

this known unto you, and hearken to my words:

Where was Matthias? If he was numbered with the eleven apostles

as it says in Ac 1:26 then who was it that numbered him with the

apostles not the Holy Spirit, obviously or else Ac 2:14 would read,

Peter standing up with the twelve.

We need to carefully read the Scripture and believe its inerrant

    statements of fact.

We can get from this incident a rule, You can vote and cast lots and

appoint all you like, even in a religious conference of 120 devout

believers, but don't faint if God vetoes the legislation

    FURTHER SCRIPTURE ENDORSING PAUL'S

    APOSTLESHIP

Ro 1:1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated

    unto the gospel of God,

1Co 1:1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of

God, and Sosthenes our brother,1Co 9:1 Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ

our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord?

2Co 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy

our brother, unto the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints

    which are in all Achaia:

2Co 12:12 Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all

patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.

Ga 1:1 Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ,

and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)

Eph 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints

which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:

Col 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus

1Ti 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our

    Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope;

1Ti 2:7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the

2Ti 1:11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a

    teacher of the Gentiles.

Tit 1:1 Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to

the faith of Gods elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after

    godliness;

1Co 15:8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of

    due time.

In 1Corinthans 15 Paul mentions the many witnesses to the

resurrection however, he names the Apostles who were witnesses to

    the resurrection.

1Cor 15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day

    according to the scriptures:

5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve [including

Matthias though not named cf Ac 1:22]:

6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of

whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen

    asleep.

7 After that, he was seen ofJames; then of all the apostles.8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due

    time.

A qualification for apostleship was the witnessing to the resurrected

Jesus and commissioning by Him for apostleship. Further after

Pentecost there were attesting signs and wonders that authenticate

    apostles including Paul.

Ac 5:12 And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and wonders

wrought among the people; (and they were all with one accord in

    Solomons porch.
