With years of experience in commercial and residential surveying, natural interests in architecture, horticulture, interior design, I believe I have a valuable understand-ing of design together with project management.

I believe good design is providing the perfect solution for the project, working to the highest standards to deliver exceptional results. I am comfortable with commercial and residential design practices, whilst possessing a sound knowledge of historic periods, design trends supplemented by world travel including an interest in the Arts.

I thrive on being challenged, providing aesthetic and functional solutions whilst considering every last detail being mindful of the overall scheme. Thinking ahead is an intuitive part of being a designer. Paying attention to the future needs of the client is a vital part in producing a scheme with longevity. I believe landscape design plays an essential contribution to an interior scheme, connecting the internal and external environments. Lighting is a key and integral part of any interior design project, whether artificial or natural. Assertive project management is the backbone behind any successful design. These are just a few of the elements behind my design philosophy and work ethic.

KLC School of Design, Chelsea.Diploma in Interior Design2010 – 2011 Affiliated with Brighton University and the BIID The course aims to simulate a working environment on both residential and commercial projects with real client briefs, budgets and schedules. Throughout the course we collaborated and worked closely with clients, designers, brands, architects and interior designers: Taylor Howes, Candy & Candy, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Casson & Conder, Gordon Lindsay Design, Keech Design and Cole & Son.

My property and design technology background has enabled me to understand how structures work, building regulations are enforced, planning schedules implemented and budgets controlled.

KLC enhanced my artistic abilities with an intensive interior design course, from rough sketches through to 3D CAD models. I have seen my schemes develop from concept to reality. The course taught us the balance between administration and design.

The skills acquired during my course include: CAD (Vector Works), Technical drawing, Space planning and ergonomics, lighting design, history of style, Photoshop, building construction, rendering, SketchUp and sourcing.

Thesis Project - Retail space. To develop a commercial unit of approximately 406m² for an intended client, within a realistic budget and within context of the client’s needs.

Delusion – A men’s wear collection. The design style of the brand focuses on: Innovation, distortion of textiles, industrial elements, deconstruction of materials, relax silhouettes and raw design.

I approached Delusion as I love the clothes, ethos and brand philosophy. Their range is stocked in over 30 stores worldwide, yet they do not have a store which made this a perfect opportunity to design a flagship store.

S I T E

Situated on the corner of King Street and James Street at ground floor level in the heart of Covent Garden. Permission has been granted to change the façade and internal layout including mezzanine level.

While the space was allocated as part of the brief, we were allowed to relocate the shell to any location throughout the world providing it was justifiable. I relocated the space to Covent Garden, as the demographics meet the demands of the target market.

During the consultation process with Delusion, I proposed two ideas. The first was to explore the idea of using part of the store as an exhibition space for complimentary designers to sell their products and services.

The second idea was to use the store as a runway to launch the new collections. Like the exhibition concept, it would create seasonal interest in the store, cause a sense of hype and interest. Like many international flagship stores, I hoped the design would put the fashion label on the map.

While the space benefits from a dual aspect frontage, providing an abundance of natural day light and an ideal amount of window display area it also presented many constraints: the two pillars, the varying heights throughout, poorly layed out service facilities and poor symmetry. Manipulating the space and layout was key to disguising the shortfalls. The aim: to match the concept of deconstructivism with a fluid design. To play with varying heights, topography, and the juxtaposition of walls, balconies and playful sight lines.

Working with the monochrome colour range and raw industrial style of the clothing range, I specified materials such as: concrete, glass, mirror, resin, steel and acrylic to form a balance between the space and the collections.

The restaurant is situated at the junction of Grosvenor place and Beeston Place in Belgravia, SW1, within a listed building. The restaurant occupies the basement, ground floor and mezzanine floors, with apartments on the floors above. The kitchens and other service areas are located in the basement.

While the property and location were stipulated within the brief, we were able to redsign the internal layout, choose the decorative scheme and type of cuisine.

After careful consideration of the local demographics, competition within the area and the type of audience we hoped to appeal to, a French cuisine with an opulent old Hollywood glamour style interior was chosen with much of the focus being paid on the Art Deco styling and materials selected.

Tina Roscoe of consulting architects CassonConder acted on behalf of theclient, while Gordon Lindsay Design would act as project leaders.

To create an opulent art deco inspired interior of this Arts and Crafts house. The property was undergoing significant remodelling and refurbishment, with an extension to the rear. Working closely with the architects we proposed works to be carried out in the formal living and dining areas, hallways, kitchen, office, master bedroom and principle bathrooms.

• Measured survey• Concept sketches and visual proposals• Detailed working drawings• Sourcing of all FF & E • Site visits and client meetings• 3D renders• Liasing with the architects

Working alongside Simon Glendenning the MD of Cole & Son and the Daniel Hopwood Design Studio, the brief asked each student to propose a scheme that reconsidered the visual display methods and functionality of their Chelsea Harbour Design Centre store. To maximize a limited space and think of innovative methods to display the 800 strong collection of wall papers. To allow users and the sales person to enjoy the wall papers in a number of changing views, angles and atmospheres.

The limited wall space, low ceiling height and linear space fought against the sole intention of selling wall papers. My initial thoughts were to create an intriguing, alluring, captivating shop front that led the audience through the space in a way that hadn’t been considered before. Using carefully placed walls, unusual ceiling treatments, inventive wing units, 3D visual walls and visual mer-chandising methods to seduce the user into interacting with the papers.

The brief. To provide design solutions for the Central Clinical Administration Space and Hot Desk Office within the same day admissions unit. The scheme must present a ‘portable’ design.
