The City of Gold Coast operates three landfills, 14

waste and recycling centres and provides waste

management services to more than 500,000

residents and 11 million visitors each year. During

2011‐12 we managed 603,000 tonnes of waste,

of which 255,000 tonnes was recycled or re‐used.

Through collaboration, we play a leading role in

stimulating innovative practices to drive resource

efficiency in the City. We are focussed on ongoing

modernisation and improvements to our waste

and recycling centres, education and advocacy

programs to drive waste minimisation and reuse

options within the city. A new Solid Waste

Management Strategy will form the City’s

blueprint for waste management until 2022

which includes a new kerbside greenwaste
