To whom it may concern,
I would like to offer my opinion on the repair of 1998 Spartan Aerial innovations ladder. The items
requested are items that can be removed and replaced. We are more than capable of replacing the items
however I am not sure that you will gain back the amount of money you are spending in longevity. The
repairs being done are specific to the aerial. The Ladder will be repaired but the Chassis is still 17 years old
and has a 17 year old drive train and wiring harness.
Please take into consideration that this is an AI ladder. This was a company that was bought by American
LaFrance. It was not marketed but items were used to help with their other products. Parts are not as easy to
get for this Aerial and tend to be expensive due to the low number of units in the field. American Lafrance
has gone out of business and the LTI division was sold off. This includes the AI section and now operates as
LTC.
This letter is for assistance in determining the path you wish to follow. We are here to assist you if you
choose to repair this truck.
I believe if you are following a typical life cycle for a ladder I believe you will come to the conclusion that
spending this type of money on this repair may not make sense. Using this money towards a new apparatus
with a new life cycle and current safety precautions and a warranty may be a better plan of action.
Should you have questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely
Mike Marcinko

The aerial also has a twist that may or may not be corrected by the replacement of the base rail. This could
lead to possible other ladder sections requiring repair or replacement. This item should be considered a
possible supplemental expense.
Please note that the repairs proposed DO NOT take into consideration any other deficiencies the vehicle may
have. It does not include any thing found during disassembly that was not known, discussed or visible. Please note that the aerial inspection of the unit was not completed due to the damage to the base rail. This
