J & R has spent the last ten years building its West Country range of products branded “Best of The

West”. This makes it easy for our customers to access a wide range of locally produced items from

smaller artisan producers and incorporate these on their menus or in their stock.

To help reduce food miles our vehicles collect many of these products after they have made their daily

deliveries and are, on their way, back to the depot.

We stock over 1000 different locally produced or grown product lines and work with over 30

different local suppliers ranging from Chunk of Devon, Ryders Bakery, Tregida Smokehouse,

Cornish Premier Pasties, Exploding Bakery, Marshfield Ice Cream to Trewithen Dairy to name a few.

Within our supplier portfolio seven out of our top ten are local companies. As a local family run

business, we feel that Supporting South West based Companies will help the “West Country” grow.

We are proud and passionate of our West Country Roots and spend a great deal of time listening to

our customers to ensure we source the correct products to meet their ever-changing requirements.

Our “Best of The West” range is constantly developing to suit a wide range of establishments

In 2018 we acquired a local Fruit and Vegetable Wholesaler “F.Milford & Sons”,

a family run one hundred year old business that was based in Exeter.

With Milford’s very strong relationships with local and West Country

growers and the extensive product knowledge gained over the

years this now gives J&R a top quality range of seasonal

produce which is sourced from the West Country

wherever possible. This helps to cut down food miles

ensuring West Country Produce is served on West

Country plates. We are also able to source more

exotic products ensuring that we meet the needs

of a wide range of different customer types,

ranging from farm shops, garden centres,

restaurants, pubs and hotels to large public

bodies like Universities & schools.

Established in 1988, Complete Meats Limited is a family run business

which has a strong reputation for excellent quality meat. Owners

Shaun and Cindy Vining are totally committed to supporting

Westcountry farmers and to providing the catering and

hospitality industry with the top quality meat matched

with a butchery service that is second to none.

Many of their suppliers are local farmers with

whom they have established a personal

relationship and who are passionate about

upholding the very best animal husbandry

standards.

Complete Meats believe that if an animal

has not been well looked after during its

lifetime, it will be reflected in the meat

it produces. Needless to say, all

animals are free range.

Complete Meats also use a local abattoir

to keep food miles down. This avoids long

and stressful journeys for the animals.

They then have the meat back to the cutting

plant where it is hung for the required time.

Their beef is hung for at least 21 days, which

ensures tenderness and flavour.
