The boy, identified by his family name Ning, was diag- nosed with vascular tumors in 2013. He had undergone mul- tiple surgeries over the past four years, but his condition didn’t improve. Ning was brought to Shenzhen No. 3 People’s Hospital on Dec. 12 after experiencing intense pain in the left of his chest. His condition worsened as multiple vascular tumors were found in his body, and he passed away at around 4 a.m. Wednesday. Ning’s parents are employees at the hospital. His mother, Jiang Linju, is a nurse, and his father, Ning Xinzhong, is a cardiotho- racic surgeon. Ning’s teachers, classmates and many medical workers along with Ning’s parents gathered at the hospital to bid farewell to the teenager as his body was moved to an ambulance heading to Shenzhen University at around 10 a.m. Wednesday. According to Gao Min, a coor- dinator of the Shenzhen branch of the Red Cross Society of China, Ning’s body was donated to the medical school of Shenzhen Uni- versity, and his corneas would help two blind people restore their vision. The cornea trans- plant surgeries were performed at Shenzhen Eyes Hospital on Thursday. Ning was in his senior year at Hongling Senior High School. One of his teachers, surnamed Liao, said Ning was an optimis- tic boy who always brought joy and happiness to others. She said Ning’s academic performance A CLOTHING shop equipped with a face-recognition payment system was launched in a shop- ping mall in Luohu District. The clothing shop, located in 9 Square Shopping Center in Luohu District, is the first store to utilize a face-recognition pay- ment system in China. According to the report, customers can open a member- ship account for the shop via a WeChat mini-app and stand in front of the face-scanning screens in the shop to register their facial information with the system. Each subsequent time mem- bers stand in front of the face- scanning screens, the payment system — developed by WeChat Payment — will recognize them and recommend apparel. Customers can try on outfits in the shop or scan the code on the screen to buy the items online. When a customer is done shop- ping, the bill can be paid with WeChat Payment at a checkout counter via face-recognition without the need for a phone. The shop also provides after- sales service via its mini-app and official WeChat account. According to WeChat Pay- ment, the face-recognition payment system is an all-round upgrade of the smart retail solu- tion, which is aimed at providing smart retail by using cutting- edge technologies. UnionPay is a well-known financial service corporation that provides bank card ser- vices in China. The company registered an online lending platform and expanded the service to 50 online shops in a dozen provinces and autonomous regions.
