THE LIND FAMILYIn 2012 the LIND DNA adventure started with the two Lind sisters’ shared ideas on how to move the Danish interior design culture in a new direction.

There is no doubt that the growing success of the two sisters and their father, Preben Lind, is linked to the close ties between them that give life to their inspiration, their goals and their ideas.

The Lind Family is dedicated to perfection and hands on. You can follow the two sisters on every step from ideas to design, to production and quality control and distribution and marketing. The sisters stand behind every single design. This is the reason why the Lind family in the most natural way grew into LIND DNA.

Nobody is perfect and we know we aren’t either but we strive for perfection in every design we create.MIE LIND

DANISH SUSTAINABLE DESIGN The raw Scandinavian nature, often embodied by the Danish forests, is our essential source of inspiration. Therefore, these forests and especially oak trees are at the center of many designs in our new collection.

Besides guiding our choice of other Danish raw materials, oak also symbolises the durability in all our products. Product durability is an important quality, which we strive to achieve in every design.

The oak tree is carefully milled out into round oak rods in local Danish sawmills. They are then polished and oiled by hand.

Traditional craftmanship and gentle processing allow the Danish oak to keep its raw and natural character in the final design.

This in combination with aluminium and leather gives our products the uncompromising expression of delicate lines that meet raw nature.

We strive to give every product its individual charm. This is why every single product is finished by hand.

We know it takes longer but we believe that it is the story behind the product and the handmade finish that makes the product unique and valuable.

OLD LEATHER SHOES AND NEW DESIGNS Pure leather is collected from shoes, handbags, old furniture, and scrap leather and carefully sorted into different piles according to its kind and structure. This is the first step in the process of bringing the used leather back to life.

The leather, which naturally comes in different shapes and sizes, is grained into grit size and mixed with natural rubber and water. The material is then dried out on big roles leaving back a compact and durable material consisting of 80% reused leather and 20% natural rubber.

The emerging recycled leather material is designed with four different finishes, each with its own distinguishing features. These finishes then find their way into different colours, shapes, sizes and combinations with other materials, allowing us to express ourselves through this unique sustainable material.

LASER CUTTING PLOTTER

The leather sheet is selected and carefully placed on the cutting table of the laser cutting plotter which is programmed to cut the specific shape and size in question.

The plotter cuts the leather with great precision, keeping leather waste to an absolute minimum.

The resulting leather pieces are then extracted and move on to quality control and further processing.

Our passion for natural and sustainable materials started with our discovery of the unique qualities of recycled leather.

The recycled leather is water repellent, durable and easy to clean with a wet cloth or window spray. It preserves its look and feel through continued use without any kind of secondary treatment.

NATURAL MATERIALS AND LOCAL CRAFTMANSHIPOur use of natural wool in natural colours is inspired by everyday life in the Danish countryside. It is sometimes possible to find small splinters of wood in the wool stemming from the fence posts in the paddocks that the sheep rub against. This direct link to nature is exactly what gives this material its charm and why we are so devoted to natural materials.

The wool used in our designs is produced using significantly less energy than regular felt and not processed or dyed, an essential part of our respect for nature.

The wool is stored on large rolls before it is carefully cut by hand by our skilled Danish craftsmen in corresponding shapes and sizes for our LIND DNA covers, bags, notebooks, and cushions.

The notebook is finally assembled using a system that makes it possible to restock paper and use the notebook over and over.

Our own saddelmakers sew the wool to the recycled leather. Our predilection for these handmade finishes guarantee that no products are exactly similar.

One of our LIND DNA trademarks is exactly the untraditional combination of raw wool on one hand and durable and yet delicate leather on the other which also characterises the different nuances of nature.

CONTAINER is used differently by different people which was the exact intention of the design: one day a log carrier, the next day a storage space for blankets or magazines.It represents a series of LIND DNA designs that are especially characterised by the distinctive combination of solid aluminum and soft recycled leather. Our CONTAINER design was awarded the HOMI Maker Design Award, Milano 2014.

The LIND DNA trademark, the Curve shape, has found its way into several new designs. CURVE HOOK and MINI DOT are ideal for styling any kind of wall in any kind of room. CURVE HOOK is mounted with double adhesive tape on the back. MINI DOT is mounted with the included screw.

KRAFTPAK, which we use for packaging, is a low-density, uncoated and unbleached kraft paperboard grade, designed to provide maximum strength, cleanliness and performance while using the smallest amount of fiber. KRAFTPAK is certified biodegradable and compostable. It is made from clean fibers and is valuable in the recycling process.
