FORGIVEN

"Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight!...

Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty!

When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long. Day and night Your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat.

Finally, I confessed all my sins to You and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, 'I will confess my rebellion to the LORD.' And You forgave me! All my guilt is gone."

THE MESSENGER

FORGIVEN (continued from page 1)

Blessed be God, the Father of all mercies, who

forgives our sins, and frees us from guilt, allowing our

hearts to beat with joy once again. While "there is

now no condemnation for those who are in Christ

Jesus" (Romans 8:1) Believers still sin.

The Apostle John writing to believers, says, "If we say

that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and

the truth is not in us... If we say that we have not

sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in

us" (1 John 1:8, 10).

Sin alienates us from God. Sin robs us of the joy of

life. Sin burdens us with guilt. Sin blurs our perception

of life. Sin saps our energy because it chases peace

and sleep away.

But oh, the freedom and joy of forgiveness when we

confess our sin to the Lord! "If we confess our sins, He

is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to

cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).

God already knows what we did. He wants us to admit

that what we did offended Him. He wants us to turn

away from our sin and turn back to Him.

"Finally, I confessed all my sins to You

and stopped trying to hide my guilt.

I said to myself, 'I will confess my rebellion to the

LORD.'

And You forgave me! All my guilt is gone."
