Despite all our me saving gadgets, we sll have

TwentyFifth Sunday in Ordinary Time
As we come today for the Celebration of the Holy Eucha-
rist, we are a bit past the midpoint of September. With the
air changing, the colors becoming a little brighter with the
pumpkins, mums and bittersweet vines, we know we are
entering a new season, or course, referred toas Fall.
In today’s Holy Gospel, we hear of the property owner
sending out his hired help to work in the vineyard. An ap-
propriate text will be used today bringing forth that message
with a hymn “The Keeper of the Vineyard”. This familiar
melody by Ralph Vaughan Williams (18721958) is consid-
ered and English folktune titled KINGSFOLD.
Our Processional Hymn, “How Can I Keep From Singing?”
is cited as a Quaker or Shaker hymn. This song was written
by an American Baptist minister Robert Wadsworth Low-
ery. This hymn contains some very interesting verses, but
today we will use verses 1 & 4. Both containing a uplifting,
positive theme with the reassurance of God’s protection in
turbulent, uncertain time. This is to understand the fact, as
the refrain spells out, that our trust in God, who made heav-
en and earth, will be there in our need, therefore, we can’t
help but sing his praises.

A Message of Peace from Pope Francis
Pope Francis is urging Christians to imi-
tate God's merciful attitude, saying the
world could be spared much suffering
and many wounds and wars if for-
giveness and mercy were
   “the style of our life.”

“It is necessary to apply merciful love to all human
relationships: between spouses, between parents
and children, within our communities and also in
society and politics.” ~ Pope Francis
