038 FOOD WEB
The transfer of energy from a source in plants through a series of organisms
is called the food chain and their interlinking pattern is called the food web.
MATERIALS REQUIRED
Chart boards or old cards from packaging material
Pens or coloured paints
Ball of thread (thick thread would be better)
Cut the boards into any convenient sizes and with the help of the class
prepare food chains and link them as food web. A suggested food web
is given. Once the cards are ready, make children stand in a circle, give them
the cards at random. Tie string to the index finger of the student who gets the
“sun” card…. motivate the students to give the next step and keep winding
the same thread on the index fingers of the food web… finally a web is
formed by the thread (a sample picture is attached)
