1. Create a course catalogue
Creating a full Course Catalogue
can only be done by Site Administrators
To create catalogue pages, go to Admin
…enter your details and click Submit
This will take you to your Admin page
For a new CSA, select Course Catalogue
… and then Course Subject Area (CSA)
You can now add, edit or delete a
CSA
To add a CSA, click here
Fill in the name and description of the CSA
Fill in the metadata and select the status
… and click Submit
The CSA is now added to your list
… and will look like this in the catalogue
For a new category, select Catalogue
… and then Course Category (CCat)
You can now add, edit or delete a
CCat
Click here for a new course category
Fill in the details of the CCat
Fill in the metadata, status and Submit
The Category is now added to your list
… and will look like this in the catalogue
These changes will show in the catalogue
2. Create a Course Introduction Page
Creating a Course Module can be done
by Site Administrators and
Course Providers
A course provider’s admin looks like this
Course provider’s admins allow them to create courses and manage payments
A site owner’s admin looks like this
Site owners’ admins allow them to manage
their whole site
To add a course, select Course Module
Click Insert Course Module
… which takes you to your Intro page
In Step 1, choose the course category
Tip: if your category
isn’t in the catalogue, contact us
with details so
we can add it
In Step 2, add your course intro details
Enter the course name…
Note: as you enter the name of your course,
the unique name will be
automatically completed
… introduction
… aims
… key points
Select your name as course provider
Add completion options
Set the quiz % pass rate here.
Do not change self-complete
unless you want to manage your trainees’ course
completions
In Step 3, add metadata
Tip: the keywords should be: name of course module, course category, course
subject area
In Step 4, decide if the course is free…
… or paid-for
When finished, select status and submit
… and return to your course page
Note: if you are a course provider, your course is
suspended until approved by the MLL admin team
Tip: you can drag courses up and down to change their position in the catalogue.
This is how your Intro page will look
The details also appear in course logs
This allows the user to have a
permanent record of what the course is
about
3. Add topics and assignments
Creating Course Topics and Assignments can be done by both Site Administrators and
Course Providers
To add topics, start on the Course page
Select the course and click here…
Tip: have your course topics ready before you
start adding topics
On the new page, click Insert Course Topic
Add your topic title and topic
Use the text editor to format your text
Add web links
Show web links in a new window…
… so that your users can return to their course
page
Add images here
Add images from the server…
… or upload a new image
Embed resources such as videos
Check out the ckeditor site to find out the full range of resources you can embed
Add a topic-related assignment
Tip: an assignment shows after the
topic under a Do and Log heading
Now set the status and click Submit
This will take you to your topics page
Tip: you can drag topics up and down to change their
position in the course.
Delete unwanted topics here
Note: you cannot delete a topic that has a sub-topic. Delete the sub-topic first.
Add further topics or sub-topics
When complete, go to the main page
If you are a Course Provider, click here
Your course will be moderated by the Admin
team and set live

4. Add a quiz
Creating a Course Quiz can be done by
both Site Administrators and
Course Providers
To add a quiz, start on the Course page
To add a quiz, click the Quiz icon
Select Multiple Choice and add details
Select Missing Word and add details
Select True and False and add details
When your quiz is done, click Submit
Go back to the Course Module page
This is how the quiz will look…
5. Add promotional boxes
Creating Promotional boxes can be done by
both Site Administrators and
Course Providers
To add topics, start on the Course page
To add promotional boxes, click here
… go to a course and click Add to
Wishlist on the Introduction
page
This will take you to Add/Edit Boxes
Click Add Box
… which will take you to Add/Edit Box
Fill in details of your promotion…
To add an image, click Browse
Note: On your computer, first
format your image files to 170px x 90px
Add a picture from your computer
When finished, click Submit
… and go back to the Add/Edit Boxes
You can now edit or delete
your right-hand box
And this is how your box appears
Your promotional boxes appear on every one
of your course pages
6. Assign users
Assigning Users can only be done by Site Administrators not by Course Providers
To assign users, start on the Course page
Now select your course and click here
This will take you here…
To add a user to the course, select here…
… and click here
Click Submit and the person is added
The person assigned receives this email…
… together with this inbox message
To remove a user, select a user…
Click here and then Submit…
… and the person will be removed from
the course
