Our Brummel hook clasps

are derived from my experience

with them while racing Wianno Seniors (circa 1955).

They were the fitting of choice for attaching the

halyard, sheet and guy to the spinnaker head and

clews. It occurred to me their reliability for not

unexpectedly disengaging or snagging on rigging

would make them ideal jewelry clasps.

They engage and disengage by holding

With well over 200 hand carved feathers in different planes, this bird throws light like faceted stones. Maine’s Great Blue Herons nest along the coast and on several secluded islands, but mostly near beaver ponds or lakes. Their huge nests usually are found in the tops of the tallest trees. Carving the model for this jewelry required many hours spent in a canoe observing the bird’s shape in all forms of flight.

According to a 1200-year-old legend, the wearer of an elephant hair bracelet is protected from illness, taken out

of harms way and attains great fortune. The knots represent the powerful earth forces and the strands symbolize the yearly seasons. Moving the knots along the strands is thought to create a balance and blend between earth and nature, thus

assuring the wearer to be in perfect sync with nature’s rhythms.

Elephant hair bracelets are very collectible and I remember when the real McCoy was $2. at A&F in NYC. An elephant hair bracelet was

Amelia Earhart’s favorite good luck piece, which she did not wear on her last flight.

My beloved brother, John A. Correa, our family everyologist, has submitted a story about “Llanfihangel”, our childhood horse:

Before our father went to law school he spent several

years in a monastery in the Brechfa Forest.

His job was to care for the little

ponies that the monastery rented

to a Welsh mining company. As

he was one of the few people at the

Llanfihangel Monastery who could

read and write, the monsignor asked him to

compose an agreement with the mining company.

While he loved those ponies, he enjoyed this work writing contracts more than mucking out the stalls.

Soon the word spread in the town of Llanfihangel and more and more people came to him. His work

became quite profitable for the monastery, but he definitely needed more formal training. He was the

first person the monks ever sent to law school. Later, when Mother and Dad got a horse, Dad insisted

he be named Llanfihangel after the town and his old beloved monastery.

Designing our diamond constellations happened

in an instant: One evening I suddenly visualized

the stars as diamonds. Using full cut diamonds
