Crust MantleCore DensitySeismic Waves
The thinnest layer of earth located outside the upper mantle. It is the top interior layer of the earth.
Upper Mantle: the interior layer of the earth surrounding the inner mantle
Lower Mantle: the interior layer of the earth surrounding the outer core
CoreOuter Core: the liquid interior layer of the
earth surrounding the inner coreInner Core: the interior layer of earth
surrounded by all of the other interior layers of the earth
The ratio of the mass of a substance to the volume of the substance
Seismic WavesSeismic WavesA wave of energy that travels through the
Earth and away from an earthquake in all directions
P Waves
A seismic wave that particles of rock to move in a back and forth directions
A seismic wave that causes particles of rock to move in a side to side direction
ConvectionConvection
The movement of matter due to differences in density ; the transfer of energy due to the movement of matter
Convection cells is rotating circular plate filled with a purple liquid of varying shades. Heated from below, the liquid creates a complex pattern of concentric cells which disappear when the plate spins
