Absa is thrilled to introduce Paint it Forward, an auction event
benefiting arts scholarship learners. This auction brings together two of our
passions: investment in education and sponsorship of the visual arts. We hope
to make this an annual event.
Absa boasts one of the largest corporate art collections globally. Our flagship
event is the L’Atelier art competition, which for the past 32 years has focused
on identifying and nurturing young artistic talent. This wonderful platform
provides young artists with the stage to develop their own brands. It now
successfully runs across 10 countries in Africa.
Artists are unique people who view the world very differently. Their work stirs
emotion and has the power to both challenge and inspire. Despite the enormous
value that artists bring to society, young artists often struggle to fund their
studies. Through our inaugural Paint it Forward event we’ll be auctioning 54
pieces from a range of artists, many from the L’Atelier network, who have given
generously of their work (either partially or fully) and time to Paint it Forward.
All proceeds from this auction will go towards providing educational support
of fine arts, including scholarships, to deserving students in South Africa.
These students supported through this bursary programme will also be
mentored by the Absa Gallery team in assisting to build their brand.
Thank you to our colleagues, our partners, Art Aspire Auction House and our
amazing participating artists for giving so generously. Similarly, a huge thank
you to our guests and bidders - without your contribution we would not
be able to support tomorrow’s artists.
