    HERALD POLICIES

    CONTRACT TERMS & CONDITIONSOnly advertisers who have in the past paid their bills promptlyand have met contractual commitments are eligible to signa contract for the 2009-2010 school year.

    Upon signing a volume discount contract, the advertiser agreesto run the minimum column inches required by the contract.Inches are to be expended as the advertiser desires in the 55issues that will be published during the 2009-2010 school year.

    Contract advertisers who fail to fulfill contractual requirementswill be billed for the unused inches guaranteed in the contract.

    Contracts are signed with the condition that the space contracted

    for is to be used by the advertiser signing the contract andexclusively for the business and cannot be sold, given ortransferred in whole or part to any other firm, individual orcorporation.

    The Herald reserves the right to refuse an advertisement it deemsobjectionable for any reason.

    No paid advertisement is accompanied by news stories or freenotices.

    To promote alcohol awareness the Herald will not publish adver-tising that encourages irresponsible drinking and/or the illegal use

    of alcoholic beverages.(The Herald will not run All-You-Can-Drinkads).

    All political, closing and going out of business advertising mustbe prepaid.

    If the Herald is instructed not to make any changes in an ad pro-duced by the advertiser, the newspaper is not responsible for factualerrors, quality of artwork or grammatical and/or typographicalerrors.

    It is the responsibility of the advertiser to notify the Herald of errors within 5 business days .- The Herald will be responsible for errors in first publication and

    by Herald created ads only.- Allowances will be made only for errors that materially affect

    the value of the advertisement.Non-compliance with this request leaves full responsibility withthe advertiser.

    All advertisements are accepted and published upon the representa-tion that the agency or the advertiser is authorized to publish theentire contents and subject matter thereof.     RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR FOR SUMMER PROGRAMS FOR GIFTED STUDENTS

    Job Description and Qualications

    Western Kentucky Universitys Center for Gifted Studies will employ14-16 individuals to serve as residential counselors for the two-week Summer Camp for Academically Talented Middle School Students

    (June 10-June 22) and the three-week Summer Program for Verballyand Mathematically Precocious Youth (June 24-July 14). Each

    counselor will have direct responsibility for supervising the conductand activities of 12-16 residential students when these students are not

    in class. In addition, the counselor staff will be responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising individual and grouprecreational activities for SCATS and VAMPY students in the

    evenings and on weekends. The residential counselor staff will work under the direct supervision of Dr. Julia Roberts, Director of The

    Center for Gifted Studies, and Mrs. Carolyn Hagaman, Coordinator of Summer Programming.

    Because the residential counselors must work closely wi th giftedyoung people and are expected to serve as positive adult role modelsfor these students, individuals selected for these positions must:

    Have completed at least one year of college and be enrolled as acollege student or have a college degree.Have demonstrated a high level of academic performance.Be of high moral character.Have had successful experience working with young people.Have recreational interests/skills which can be shared wit h young

    people.

    Once selected, the individual is responsiblefor submitting a criminal background check.

    Residential Counselors will live in the residence hall with thecamp/program students and will work seven days a week.

    The salary is $300 per week plus room and meals.
