With may soldiers returning from deployment it is important for us to remember that reunions and reintegration do not always go as expected. Here

are some tips for families to remember for a successful reunion and reintegration. For more information please fee free to come in to ACS.

Homecoming is an adjustment that requires patience and compromise.

Mutual respect is vital and needs to be a priority.

Respecting privacy is important during this time and allow one another to have their space.

Communication is vital to adjusting during reunification and is key to working through problems and misunderstandings.

Connections are important and everyone needs to feel connected, but do it in a way that is comfortable for everyone.

Support is essential and counseling can often be helpful during the reintegration process.

Kind words and deeds are good way of showing compassion towards one another.

* All classes at Ft. Shafter are held in the Aloha Center
