Digital devide?
• Participation– E-learning and participation to learning– Obstructions to that?
• Time & Space– Effective anyhow-anywhere-anytime?– Obstructions to that?
• Skills– New skills needed?– Have and have not?
Participation/Motivation
Learning = problematic issue– Negative schoolexperiences– Limited learning capacity– Lack of trust in own learning capacity – No recognition in the usefulness of a
training– Aversion from formal education
Time/Space dimension
Lack of timeOverload of responsabilities
– Participation in learning <-> changes in personal life• Unemployment• Kids <-> Adults
– Mainly problematic for women
Ideal learning environment = home = trainingcentre+ Traningcentra = immediate help- Home = Appropriate learningsituation
Skills• Fear of buttons
– Solutions for the most– What if basic level is still too
• Selfstudy– Limited by most unemployed people
• Obligation by unemployment office• External elements• Lack of conscience• Lack of discipline
• Obligation to training is possible if adapted to
• knowledge level • interest of learner
Skills
• Learningstyles– Own specific learning style– Determines how/what/where/when learning is best
• E-learning not for everyone– Read/learn from screen = difficult– PC/internet = alternative learning source– Blended learning = possible solution
• PC/internet = laid-back learning means– Listening lazy behind the PC– No notes, no summaries– ? Effectiviness of e-learning?
Implications
• Need for direct the individuals= integration of existing trainings= collaboration between formal and
informal education
• Blended learning – Complementary approach
• New & existing learning methods• No replacement
– Learn to use IT during other course? Yes if
• personalised • individual
Ilse Jansoone, Jetair
• Crisis = quicker shift• Traditional marketing online
marketing• UGC keeps growing• UGC more focussed, more efficient• Grow of video basic condition
Pieter Ardenois, Contentprint
• 2009 = 2010 – 1• Less > more• Less
– Words– Action– Noise, more relevance– Disturbance, more focus
• Online (virtual) conscienceWe need less to become more(Joost Zwegers)
Clo Willaerts, bnox
• UC UGC UCI
Tijs Vrolix
Free, always-on communciation = basic right
Blyk, mobilevikings
Helena Van Eykeren, imkedielen
• Digital Love doesn’t rust
• It’s all about connectivity
• Anti-online movements
Conclusions
1. Lack of time to read all things critically 2. On technological level so much
movement, hard to make predictions3. No big changes in didactical
approaches. In adult education and LLL fast grow of networklearning
4. Education without Web = impossible. Now we have to find good workmethods,
situations and equilibrity.
