Overall scope• Human resource development in R&D in Europe • Attract students to research careers• Attract researchers to Europe • Skills and sustainable career development• Continuity of previous Framework programme, with
focus on structuring impact, while simplifying

PEOPLEMarie Curie Actions in FP7
Increased importance of international participation in FP7 programmes
• UA researchers may participate in several Marie Curie actions, (including currently the IEF scheme)
• UA researchers and research organisations may further participate in the restricted Marie Curie IRSES action open to third countries that have concluded an S & T Agreement with the EU (or being covered by neighbourhood policy)

Highlights
• The individual participation of UA researchers is noticeable; an increase can be expected at the end of the FP7 compared to the figures of FP6.
• In particular the IRSES scheme has been well appreciated; there have been 4 times more participating UA organizations in the second IRSES call resulting in more than double funded proposals compared to the first call.
• The possibility to apply as partners within the Host driven actions, ITN and IAPP, should be raised. There are no longer upper limits on the % of third country researchers that can be recruited.
• UA researchers can apply to the COFUND published calls http://cordis.europa.eu/fp7/people/cofund_en.html
