[F] Though I know that [G7] evenin's empire [C] has returned into [F] sand[C] Vanished from my [F] handLeft me [C] blindly here to [Dm] stand but still not [G7] sleepingMy [F] weariness [G7] amazes me, I'm [C] branded on my [F] feetI [C] have no one to [F] meetAnd the [C] ancient empty [Dm] street's too dead for [G7] dreaming.

Chorus

[F] Take me on a [G7] trip upon your [C] magic swirlin' [F] shipMy [C] senses have been [F] stripped, [C] my hands can't feel to [F] grip[C] My toes too numb to [F] step, wait [C] only for my [Dm] boot heelsTo be [G7] wanderin'I'm [F] ready to go [G7] anywhere, I'm [C] ready for to [F] fadeIn[C]to my own pa[F]rade, cast your [C] dancing spell my [F] wayI [Dm] promise to go [G7] under it.

Chorus

[F] Though you might hear [G7] laughin', spinnin' swingin' [C] madly across the [F] sunIt's not [C] aimed at any[F]one, it's just [C] escapin' on the [F] runAnd [C] but for the sky there [Dm] are no fences [G7] facin'And [F] if you hear vague [G7] traces of [C] skippin' reels of [F] rhymeTo your [C] tambourine in [F] time, it's just a [C] ragged clown be[F]hindI wouldn't [C] pay it any [F] mind, it's just a [C] shadow you're[Dm] Seein' that he's [G7]chasing.

Chorus

Then [F] take me disap[G7]pearin' through the [C] smoke rings of my [F] mindDown the [C] foggy ruins of [F] time, far [C] past the frozen [F] leavesThe [C] haunted, frightened [F] trees, out [C] to the windy [F] beachFar [C] from the twisted [Dm] reach of crazy [G7] sorrowYes, to [F] dance beneath the [G7] diamond sky with [C] one hand waving [F] freeSilho[C]uetted by the [F] sea, circled [C] by the circus [F] sandsWith all [C] memory and [F] fate driven [C] deep beneath the [F] wavesLet me for[C]get about [Dm] today until [G7] tomorrow.Chorus

Ball and Chain by Social Distortion D A G D Well it's been ten years and a thousand tears And look at the mess I'm in- A broken nose and a broken heart, An empty bottle of gin Well I sit and I pray In my broken down Chevrolet- While I'm singin' to myself There's got to be another way CHORUS D A G D Take a way, take away, Take away this ball and chain I'm lonely and I'm tired And I can't take any more pain Take away, take away Never to return again 1x D A G (let G ring) Take away, take away (music pauses) Take away this ball and chain Well I've searched and I've searched To find the perfect life- A brand new car and a brand new suit I even got me a little wife- But wherever I have gone I was sure to find myself there- You can run all your life But not go anywhere CHORUS Well I'll pass the bar on the way To my dingy hotel room- I spent all my money Been drinkin' since half past noon- I'll wake there in the mornin' Or maybe in the county jail- Times are hard getting harder I'm born to lose and destined to fail- CHORUS X2

Hippie in My House (Halden Wofford and the Hi-Beams, “Midnight Rodeo”)

G

There’s a hippie in my house, he took a room downstairs

He drives an old Volkswagen, has a lot of hairs

C

He wants to take my daughter and feed her LSD

G

I bet he wants to kill my entire family

D C G

There’s a hippie, there’s a hippie, in my house

G

The hippie in my house has a Poly-Sci degree

He has a faculty position at the university

C

He fills the young folk’s heads with the principles of Marx

G

I keep a notebook filled with his Communist remarks

D C G

There’s a hippie, there’s a hippie, in my house

D

He says “Peace and love, man

G

Beans and brown rice,

C D

This land is your land too”

G

I don’t think I can sleep with a hippie in my house

If this calamity continues, I’ll have to punch him out

C

And maybe then he’ll realize he should move himself

G

On to another city and torture someone else

D C G

There’s a hippie, there’s a hippie in my house

D

Repeat through end: He says “Peace and love, man…

D C G

There’s a hippie, there’s a hippie in my house

Ah, one more time

D C G

There’s a hippie, there’s a hippie in my house

Page 12: '(1 8.( &20 '(19(5 8.( &20081,7< June Songbook 2013 - Punk... · Chorus [F] Hey Mr [G7] Tambourine Man, [C] play a song for [F] me I'm not [C] sleepy and there [F] is no [Dm] place

I couldn’t do these 2 anti- songs in April because I was out of town. The first one is totally punk rock, or maybe pun crock. The second is kind of a hippy flower power punk number. Please PLAY ALONG! SING ALONG! There are no chords because I usually just make them up, but any chord anyone wants to play on these is OK. Except for B#dim6. Gather Yourselves Together A song based on Philip K. Dick’s novel titles copyright © 2010 by Blind Lemming Chiffon Do androids dream of electric sheep? I want to know the penultimate truth. The crack in space is so wide and deep, Now time’s out of joint, goin’ back to my youth There’s a time for George Stavros, way back when – Now, wait for last year, ‘cause it’s coming fast In the Martian time-slip the unteleported man Has a zap gun that sends the future to the past Yeah, it’s a counter-clock world with my simulacra But the eye in the sky looks out for me I’m the man who japed, I’m Timothy Archer, But I’m gonna win the solar lottery. In the world Jones made, I came down with ubik So I had to call Dr. Futurity That galactic pot-healer said I was real sick And that I should go see Dr. Bloodmoney. Well, Dr. Bloodmoney really dropped a bomb He said I was in a maze of death, But he used Vulcan’s hammer, and it made me calm: I’ll be a cosmic puppet until my last breath. I had all three stigmata of Palmer Eldritch Flow my tears, the policeman said. You’re the man whose teeth are all exactly alike, We can build you back, though you were almost dead. Then the bubble broke, I came down with VALIS, The crap artist confessed he tried to murder me. The man in the high castle had a deus irae, And he put me through a scanner, just a little darkly. I was someplace near Radio Free Albemuth, Puttering about, in a very small land, I think I was in Milton Lumky territory When Nick and the Glimmung took my hand. Yeah, Nick came along, with a couple of higs, Just like the pilgrim on the hill, And if not for our friends from Folix 8 Mary and the giant would be there still. Sometimes I hear voices from the street. I think the game players of Titan will be here soon. They’ve already taken over Ganymede, And they’re led by the clans of the Alphane moon. Humpty Dumpty’s still in Oakland, he’s transmigrating. And we’re afraid he might fall off that wall And that could start the divine invasion: Gather yourselves together for the free-for-all.

This is an introduction. Many songwriters introduce their songs by saying "this is a song." Technically, they are incorrect. They are never singing when they say that. And that's what the song I'm introducing here is all about. This is a Title by Blind Lemming Chiffon (tune: does NOT scan to Buffalo Gals, like most of my other songs. Just make up a tune and sing. The tune should be different every time the song is sung. At least, that's what I have in mind. The tune does not need to be consistent from verse to verse.) This is a song. It's not an introduction. If I were not singing This would not be a song. This is a song It's all about itself. Some songs are that way. Some people are too. If this weren't a song, It could be a lizard. It might be a carousel. It couldn't be a song. A song is a song, And this is a song. It isn't a lizard. Get used to it. I'm playing tonight. I have a gig. I'll sing five or six songs. This won't be one of them. I don't know the words. This song has no words, Except for the words I'm singing. This song has no tune, So it has every tune, And all words are the words To this song. This isn't the end. You can still make up more, But it's all I will write today. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
