• Applied Analysis — dynamical systems, partial differential equations, approximation

• Discrete Applied Mathematics — graph theory, combinatorics, coding theory

• Computational Mathematics — solving mathematics problems by computer

• Stochastics — incorporating randomness

Graduate Programs at IIT

• M.S. in Applied Mathematics — 32 credit hours, usually takes 2 years to finish

• Master of Mathematical Finance — joint program with IIT’s Business School, usually takes 1.5 years

• Ph. D. in Applied Mathematics — 84 credit hours, takes 5 years with a bachelor degree

• Ph. D. in Collegiate Mathematics Education — jointly with Department of Mathematics and Science Education, designed for people who teach or will teach mathematics in colleges

Financial Support for Graduate Students

• Approximately 4 new TA positions each year — provide full tuition and fees + competitive stipend

• RA positions — the same coverage as TAs

• Research Scholarship — provide tuition and stipend for the first year without teaching duties

• Meriit Scholarship for Part-time Students — up to 50% tuition discount based on undergraduate GPA
