This is a wonderful retreat, and is set amongst huge trees, some of
which are over 150 years old. The views of Champagne Castle, Mount
Cathkin and Sterkhorn are magnificent. As the light changes, you have a
very different scene every 20 minutes. This is sheer music to the soul
and great inspiration to artists.
Ferndale Cottage consists of a living room, two bedrooms; one with a
king-size bed, the other with two single beds. Each bedroom has its own
bathroom. One with a bath, the other with a shower. The cottage has a
fireplace to keep you warm on winter evenings, a small stove and refrigerator, a kettle, a toaster, the usual
pots, pans, crockery and necessary utensils. There is no TV.

Tout en Haut is a well-appointed self-catering cottage which comfortably
sleeps eight. The cottage has 4 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms. The main
bedroom en suite has a queen size bed and a private lounge area with
double sliding doors opening up onto the garden with beautiful views of
Champagne Valley. The second bedroom, with a bay window overlooking
the garden has a king size bed and the third bedroom has two twin beds.
The fourth bedroom leads off from the main bedroom and is suitable for
children and shares the en suite bathroom. The second and third bedrooms
share a full bathroom with a bath. There is a third bathroom with a shower
which has an outside entrance. Extra comfort includes heating in all the bedrooms for those winter evenings and
a gas heater in the lounge makes for cosy evenings in front of the television. The patio, with sweeping views of
Champagne Valley, is the perfect spot to spend lazy summer afternoons and evenings watching the night sky.
The cottage is also equipped with a DVD player, and a DSTV decoder, for which guests must please bring their
own smart card. A barbecue / braai facility is situated on the side of the house.

Wits End This family run establishment is close to the entrance to
the World Heritage site and has 9 chalets all with magnificent views
of the Central Drakensberg range. The atmosphere is relaxed and
the chalets, carefully appointed for privacy, have fireplaces for cosy
winter evenings and fans for the summer heat. Chalets range from
luxury 2 & 3 Suite Units (chalets with 2 or 3 bedrooms en suite), 3
bedroom 1 bathroom family chalets, and 4 bedroom 2 bathroom
group chalets. The resort boasts 80 hectares of pristine mountain
landscape with several private nature trails running through
indigenous forests and mountain grassland, and a 10 acre dam with canoeing, row boating, and fly fishing.
