• A Local Strategic Partnership (LSP) is a non-statutory, multi-agency body, which matches local authority boundaries.
• Surrey has 12 LSPs Surrey Strategic Partnership (SSP)11 District and Borough LSPs

What is a Local Area Agreement?
The LAA sets out the deal between central and local authorities and their partners.
In order to improve services and the quality of life in a place over a 3 year period.

What is a Local Area Agreement?
It is agreed at a county-wide level and some delivery plans are best managed at a county level
But includes local priorities and some delivery plans are best managed locally

Some examples:
• Surrey car share scheme• Improve levels of waste recycling • Reducing vehicle collisions • More older people able to live independently.• Increasing volunteering .• Reducing the levels of repeat reported domestic violence • More affordable housing • Supporting the economically inactive back into work• Encouraging cycling to school

Some Successes to date
• Cycling To Schools An extra 22000 cycle safety training courses
• Housing Over 1200 extra affordable homes. • Waste Glass Recycling An extra 6500 tons of household
waste glass has been recycled. Commercial waste glass recycling will be up by 50%.
• Volunteering Over 10000 more people volunteering in Surrey.
• Vulnerable Older People An extra 1500 older people have
been helped to live at home.

The new LAA for Surrey What are we trying to do?
Reduce the amount of waste generated by Surrey householders, which is currently one of the highest per capita ratios. In 2004 the average Surrey household generated 565kg of waste, against a national average of 439kg.

Increase the supply of affordable housing. Average house prices in Surrey are 34% higher than the rest of the region and approximately 10 times annual average earnings.

Reduce obesity in children. In 2007 the percentage of obese children appears to be double that of reception children recorded in 2001

Reduce high levels of drinking in Surrey to reduce alcohol related deaths and health problems. It is estimated more than 129,000 people in Surrey are currently harmful drinkerswhile over 27,000are alcohol-dependent.
