• All civilizations contribute some good or benefit to society. (What they are known for in history.)
– The Neanderthals, who lived in Europe, were the first humans to use sewed clothing.
– The Cro-Magnons, who also lived in Europe, were the first humans to paint on walls of caves (What we consider art).
– The Sumerians, who lived in Mesopotamia, gave the world the wheel, the arch used in construction and divided a circle into 360 degrees.
