MMM/MFM/MIM
The orientation program for the PGDM and PGDM (PHM)
students batch 2018 - 2020 was held on Monday, 18th
June, 2018 at Manik Sabhagrih. The Chief Guest of the
program was Mr. Rahul Kanodia, Vice Chairman and CEO,
Datamatics Global Services. Mr. Rahul Kanodia's speech
threw an insight on the trends in the industry with the
focus on advent of technology. The welcome speech
given by the Director, Dr. Dinesh D. Harsolekar was very
informative. This was followed by presentations by
various faculty members about activities at IES.
Inauguration of MFM part-time course was organized
on Saturday, July 14, 2018. Director Dr. Dinesh D.
Harsolekar delivered the welcome address. He gave
inputs on IES' core values and expectations from
students. Associate Dean (Academics), Dr. Vijay
Bhangale also shared his experience with previous
batches. Prof. Devaki Nadkarni delivered the vote of
thanks. The inaugural session was followed by an ice-
breaking session by Prof. Sushma Karwa.

The inauguration program for the MMS Batch 2018 was rd
held in the Seminar hall of IES MCRC on Friday, 3 August,
2018. It began with the lighting of the lamp by our Director,
Dr. Dinesh D. Harsolekar along with our Dean, Prof. Parag
Mahulikar. This symbolic gesture of imparting knowledge
was further reinforced by Dr. Harsolekar in his welcome
speech to the students in which he encouraged them to
be a 'COMPLETE MBA'. The inauguration function was
followed by an ice breaking session conducted by Prof.
Sushma Karwa.

Mr. R. D. Shah conducted an Internal Auditor Training
Programme for ISO 9001 : 2015 QMS on Thursday, 21st
June, 2018. Experienced instructors explained the clauses
of ISO 9001:2015 in detail, audit process from managing an
audit program to reporting on audit results etc. 17 faculty
and staff members attended this training programme. The
session was very informative to the various process owners
in IES MCRC.
A workshop on Vision and Mission of IES MCRC was
conducted by Dr. Dinesh D. Harsolekar, Director IES MCRC,
Prof. Vijay Shahane, Professor and Dr. M. W. Shaikh,
Associate Dean on Saturday, 29th September, 2018. 23
staff members attended this workshop.
Training @ IES : We prepare… You perform
IES MCRC made a pioneering effort to teach Business
Mandarin to the students to add value to their profile
and personality. As a consequence the employability of
students is increased in global companies. The Business
Mandarin course is targeted to ensure that students can
converse with Taiwanese national freely and manage
business better. This course is conducted by Ms.
Jennifer Makhecha, Chairperson, Taiwan Chambers of
Commerce. In all, 55 students have enrolled for this stcourse which was inaugurated on Wednesday, 1
August, 2018.
To make Taiwanese / foreign nationals comfortable in
India, IES MCRC took a revolutionary step of educating
them with the national language, that is, Hindi. Basic
conversational Hindi course was introduced to these
foreign nationals which is a course of 24 hours duration
and conducted on Sundays by Ms. Sheela Gupta. The
participants are taught to talk in Hindi and by end of the
course will be able to make basic conversations about
their companies' products and so on in Hindi. Mr. Wu
Willis was very appreciative of the initiative taken by th
IES. This course began on 5 August, 2018.
CII ASEAN Student's Exchange Program

IES MCRC had the honor of hosting the 5th ASEAN 125+ student delegation from five countries - Malaysia, Cambodia, rd
Laos, Brunei and Indonesia on Thursday, 3 May, 2018. IES MCRC was chosen by Ministry Of External Affairs and CII.
Dr. Dinesh Harsolekar spoke about challenges of Management education in India and requirements for the same.
Dr. Minu Mehta, Head - Centre of Excellence for Leadership and Entrepreneurship gave presentation on “Culture &
Communication” which was very interactive. This was followed by music session performed by both IES MCRC
students and ASEAN students. Finally Ms. Anupam Sinha – Consultant - International Projects at CII, Delhi thanked IES
MCRC for hosting the delegation at short notice and making it so memorable for ASEAN students. The exchange th st
program was from 30 April to 1 May, 2018.

Speakers of TEDxIES MCRC
IES MCRC got license from TED, USA to organize a conference named TEDxIES
MCRC. The conference was attended by around 100 people and there were 9
speakers including one speaker Dr. Minu Mehta from IES MCRC itself. Other
speakers were Mr. Vimal Mahendru, President, Legrand, Mr. Sumit
Chowdhury, CEO, Gaia Smart Cities, Dr. Ameet Patki, Gynecologist, Ms. Radha
Kapoor Khanna, CEO, ISDI, Mr. Praveen Wadalkar, CEO, Techizer Co. Ltd., Mr.
Gautam Thakur, Chairman, Saraswat Bank, Dr. Murali Mohan, Neurosurgeon,
Mr. Ninad Karpe, M.D (Retd.), APTECH. The theme of the conference was
“Innovation for Masses”. The conference was a resounding success and all the
speaker videos are now available on TEDx Channel on Youtube. This event was nd
held in Manik Sabhagriha on Thursday, 2 August, 2018.

Industry Mock Interview
A Summer Guide Meet was organized on Saturday, th
11 August, 2018 with the objective of improving the
quality of the summer internship projects while
understanding the industry expectations in reference
to summer internships and challenges identification
on the other side. 11 such summer internship guides
attended this meet. Valuable insights were received
thereby serving the purpose of the meet.
On the occasion of Independence Day of our nation, an exhibition was held from 14th to 16th August, 2018 in our
Institute's Information Resource Centre for the faculty, staff and students. The books on India and famous Indian th stpersonalities were showcased in the library. Similarly, on 30 and 31 August, 2018, an exhibition of books written by or
on Warren Buffet was held to commemorate his birthday on 30th August, 2018.
Every year before starting the final placements, the Industry Mock Interview session is conducted for the final year
students. This mock drill helps them towards their preparation for the final placements. The college simulates industry
like scenario where various industry professionals are invited to the Institute. Panels are formed and interviews are
conducted. This year interviews were conducted on two days, Saturday, 1st September, 2018 and 8th September 2018.
In all, we had 40 guests from the industry from renowned organizations like Cipla, SBI Life, Bank of America, Nerolac
Paints, HDFC Ltd, Reliance Retail, Hindalco Industries Ltd., Siemens and many more.

11 students of IES MCRC and one faculty member, Dr. Minu Mehta were part of the Corporate Swiss Tour 2018. The tour th th
was for a duration of 11 days, from 26 August, 2018 to 5 September, 2018. Sessions were conducted on
Internationalisation Strategies by Dr. Rolf-Reineke Dieter, Professor, University of Applied Sciences and Arts,
Northwestern Switzerland School of Business. Inputs given were related to Globalisation, Internationalisation drivers,
Indo Swiss trade, International strategic alliances and many more. The team also visited various industries in Basel.

CII-YUVA Aspen Leadership EventthOn Saturday, 15 September, 2018, around 30 CII Yuva members attended an event conducted by Aspen Scholars
Dr. Rahul Mirchandani, Chairman and Managing Director, Aries Agro, Dr. Navita Mahajan, Business head, Northern
India Rubber Mills and Mr. Aditya Vikram Somani, Chairman, Everest Industries Ltd. at Asiatic Library, Kala Ghoda,
Mumbai. The topic was Lead with Conscience and it gave an insight into the Socratic pedagogy. It raised compelling
issues related to business ethics.

IES MCRC associated with Blueshift Institute and launched
a Post Graduate Certificate Program in Real Estate,
Construction and Housing Finance. This course is
accredited by CIDC, Government of India & Construction
Industry. The program is designed for working professionals
employed in real estate sector. The program encompasses
all areas of real estate from DCR 2034, RERA to financial th
modelling. The first session was held on Sunday, 17 June,
2018. Lectures are held every Sunday for convenience of
the working professionals.
stOn Wednesday, 1 August, 2018, IES MCRC played a catalytic
role in having the students of Thakur College of Science
and Arts sign a MOU with CII-Yi to encourage students of
Thakur College to become members of YUVA. Ms. Toshita
Dharmadhikari chaired CII-Yi and complemented the
efforts of Mr. Harsh Kothari, student of IES MCRC. The
MOU was signed and exchange between Dr. Nandita
Chakraborty, Principal, Thakur College and Ms. Avani Bakshi
in the presence of Dr. Mohan Rao, Associate Dean, IES
MCRC.

Flash mob on "Horn not OK"
CII –Yi invited the students of IES MCRC to do a flash mob
at T2 terminal on Independence day, Wednesday, 15th
August, 2018 . Students were invited by GVK Group and
CII Young Indians to perform a flash mob on their
campaign - “HORN NOT OK" and later participate in
Walkathon.
The entire skit and dance was choreographed by Mr. Raj
Shah (Student of IES MCRC) and script was by Mr. Vihit
Shah and Mr. Raj Shah (Both are students of IES MCRC).
There were 3500+ people at T2 Terminal, watching the
event staged by students of IES MCRC! It was well
appreciated by the crowd and GVK and CII Yi too.

To celebrate International Yoga Day, a session on yoga
was held for the faculty and staff of IES MCRC on stThursday, 21 June, 2018. Dean of IES MCRC, Prof.
Mahulikar explained the importance and techniques of
yoga. He demonstrated some useful yoga poses. The
participant also practiced the yoga poses demonstrated
by Prof. Mahulikar simultaneously. After the practice,
Prof. Mahulikar explained the importance of yoga in
daily life to maintain good health and peace of mind.
An evening full of fun, laughter, music, dancing and a lot
of bonding between the senior batch and junior batch of
IES MCRC was held on Tuesday, 14th August, 2018 at
Bora Bora (Andheri West). Students of batch 2018 were
given a fresher's party by their seniors at a fantastic
venue with amazing lights and foot tapping music by a
DJ exclusive for the students. A grand total of 240 juniors
and seniors both danced till
midnight on the latest and
popular Hollywood and
Bollywood dance numbers.

Ms. Fresher respectively. It
was an evening which will be
etched in every student's
minds forever.

Other activities : Your future is created by what you do today
Ms. Priya Mohit chaired the CII-Yi and spearheaded the
most prestigious project of young Indians. She gave a
detailed presentation on how to sensitize young
children and make them aware about personal security
and alertness to various abuses practices hurled at them
by parents, society and the world at large. Ms. Priya
informed the students that they would like to have a
girls and boys volunteers to assist CII-Yi in taking
Masoom Project in schools in Mumbai. She informed
CII-Yi to conduct training programs for such students
and she will be there as and when they required. This
will not only improve the emotional quotient of the
student but also help in applying all management and
leadership concepts learned in the classrooms. 250
students of IES MCRC attended this session on Monday,
27th August, 2018 in the Seminar Hall of the Institute.
Continuing with the tradition, IES MCRC celebrated the festival
of Ganesh Utsav for the 19th year with great zeal, enthusiasm
and heartfelt devotion from Thursday, 13th September to thMonday, 17 September, 2018. Our students value the
importance of the environment and hence the moorti and the
decoration was completely eco-friendly. At the end of the 5th
day, the visarjan was done in the Institute's campus in an
artificial water body with the students dancing to the rhythm of
the Dhol and chanting praises of his Almighty, Ganpati Bappa
Morya!!!
