5 Quitting the Game

Before quitting yourgame, be sure toselect SAVE (p. 19)from the Main Menuand select the saveslot to save your current progress.After you have finished saving, youcan then turn your Nintendo 3DSsystem off.

♦ There is only one save slot fordata in this game.

● Do not turn the power off, resetthe system or remove GameCards/SD Cards while saving.Make sure not to get dirt in theterminals. These actions couldresult in permanent data loss.

● Do not use external accessoriesor software to modify your savedata, as this can lead to aninability to progress or loss ofsave data. Any modification ispermanent, so be careful.

9 Match Mode Controls

These are the controls for MatchMode (p. 21-31). Match Mode iscontrolled mainly using the stylus onthe Touch Screen, but somefunctions are controlled using thebuttons.

10 About Story Mode

About the Map

Advance throughthe game in StoryMode by exploringvarious locations,talking to peopleand heading to the objectives.

Once you haveprogressed farenough in the game,you will be able toview the Map bytouching or pressing . Tomove to a different location, simplyselect the desired destination on theMap. You can access the RegionalMap by touching the icon in thebottom-left corner on the Mapscreen.

♦ More and more locations willbecome available as you progressin the game.

When Chat Lock is displayed on thescreen, you will need to gatherinformation by talking to thecharacters displaying . Talking tothe character displaying willallow you to advance in the game.

Touch on the Mapscreen to enter theInazuma Bus. Talk tothe Old Guru on thebus to exchange PlayCoins for Friendship Points.

BattlesDuring Story Mode, you willoccasionally be challenged to afive-a-side football battle. Thecontrols are the same as theMatch Mode (p. 21-31) controls,but you will need to fulfil the winconditions within the time limit inorder to overcome youropponents. Win to receiveExperience Points and otherrewards.

As you progress through the game,a number of facilities will becomeavailable to you in Story Mode.

Restore SpotsSpend Prestige Pointsto restore the FP andTP (p. 13) of yourentire team.

13 The Main Menu

The status of your current teammembers. The icon in the top-rightcorner of each character's windowindicates their preferred fieldposition (p. 35).

These points arenecessary toperform specialmoves (p. 27).

FP (FitnessPoints)

These pointsindicate a player'sfitness. The FP willdecrease inaccordance with theplayer's actionsduring a match orbattle. If their FPfall to 0, they willbecome tired andtheir movement willslow. The playerwill also be morelikely to losecommand duels(p. 26).

LV. (Level)

The numberrepresents thestrength of theplayer. Level up byearning ExperiencePoints.

NEXT

The number ofExperience Pointsthe player needs inorder to level up.

♦ Players displaying willnot move around with you, butwill return and join you for amatch or battle. Players with ared border will not return to

Touch this icon orpress when a slotin the Special Moveswindow is highlightedto use a Move Manualand learn a new special move(certain players have some moveswhich can only be overwritten afteryou have finished the main game).After you have finished the maingame you will be able to unlock theability to equip and unequip FightingSpirits freely. Select the FightingSpirit window to assign differentFighting Spirits to be used on thepitch.

Touch this icon orpress when you'vehighlighted a specialmove that can beused by two or moreplayers and you will be able to set apartner to perform this special move.You cannot choose a partner that ismore than three levels below theselected player.

16 Tactics

Adjust your team's formation(p. 35) for matches and battles.

Select TACTICS from the Main Menuto change your team's formationand players.

Formations

Organise TeamChange your team'sline-up for matchesand battles. First,select the team youwant to edit. Next,select a player from the list and thenselect the player to switch themwith. The first five players in the list willtake part in battles.

Set your kit and emblem to use inbattles, multiplayer and CompetitionRoutes (p. 37).

Select INVENTORY from the MainMenu to view your items, changeequipment, etc.

Set the backgroundmusic volume. Dragthe slider, or useeither or toadjust the setting.

21 About Match Mode

Match Modecommences wheneveryou enter a footballmatch against a rivalteam. Move yourplayers around using the stylus onthe Touch Screen and do your bestto overcome your opponents.

Task

DottedCircle

Match MissionsDuring matches with certainteams, dotted circles and lineswill appear on the pitch. Move thespecified character into theindicated areas and an event willbe triggered. Keep an eye on theobjective icon and missionconditions (Task) as you playthrough the match.

♦ When Match Missions areactive, the clock will be held,so keep calm and complete themission.

22 Match Preparation

The time you have spent in thematch is displayed here.Matches are split into a first half anda second half.

24 Moving & Passing

♦ Even if you don't indicate a pathfor your players, they will moveautomatically depending on theirsurroundings.

PassingWhen one of yourplayers is inpossession of the ball,touch another playerto pass, or tapsomewhere on the pitch to kick theball there.If you pass the ball slightly in frontof a player, they will dash forward toretrieve the ball.

Touch a player andslide the stylus acrossthe Touch Screen todraw a line. Theplayer will movefollowing this line.

Chip Pass

Hold the stylus on the point youwant to kick the ball to and releaseto perform a chip pass.

The Off-Side RuleWhen you pass, if there are fewerthan two players from theopposition (e.g. the goalkeeperand a defender) between thereceiving player and youropponent's goal, you will incur anoff-side offence.

DefenceWhen a player fromthe opposition is inpossession of the ball,tap them and a redline will appearbetween them and any nearbyplayers on your team. Your playerswill then home in on the opposingplayer and attempt to gain control ofthe ball.

25 Shooting

Direct ShotIf a player on your team is in front ofthe goal, touch the goal just beforea pass reaches them to perform adirect shot. Such shots have a highchance of being successful.

Shot ChainsWhen you shoot the ball, if there isa player with a special move markedwith C in the path of the shot, theycan also kick the ball and perform aconnecting shot.

Long ShotEven when you are far from theopponent's goal you can still touch

or scroll up the field and tap thegoal to take a long shot from whereyou are. When taking the shot, youcan also perform special movesmarked with L.

When one of yourplayers approachesthe opponent's goalwith the ball, touchthe goal to shoot.Choose the shot type, then thestrength and confirm your shot.Touch the lightning bolt icon toperform a special move (p. 27).

♦ Note that you cannot use during battles.

Shot BlockingPlayers with special movesmarked with B can block shots ifthey are near the trajectory of anopponent's shot.

26 Command Duels

The players' FP, TP and elementtype (p. 33). The player inpossession of the ball will have displayed beside their information.

❶ Player Info

When players from opposite teamsintercept each other to gain controlof the ball, a command duel takesplace. Touch a command to selectit. The player who wins will leave theduel in possession of the ball.

The form value is determined by theplayer's stats (p. 32) and elementtype. The higher this figure, themore likely the player is to win theduel.

❷ Form

The command on the left is lesslikely to result in a foul, but has alow chance of winning the duel. Thecommand on the right is more likelyto cause a foul, but has a higherchance of winning. Touch thelightning bolt icon to perform aspecial move (p. 27).

❹ Element Relationship MapShows the relationship between thefour elements: Air, Fire, Earth andWood.

27 Special Moves

There are five different varieties ofspecial moves, and each can beperformed in a different situation.Shot, Dribble, Block and Save aremoves that can be performed duringa match or battle, while the effectsof Skill moves will be appliedautomatically once the player haslearned the move.

♦ Sometimes special moves will fail.If this happens, the player's TPwill only decrease slightly.

♦ When your player and a rivalplayer attempt a special move atthe same time, the move that willbe performed is decided by theplayers' stats and the strength ofthe special move.

Special Move Types

When you'resetting the type ofshot or save, or atthe start of acommand duel,touch the lightning bolt icon tospend TP and perform a specialmove. Be sure to select the bestmove for each situation.

Special Move DevelopmentIf a special move is successfullyperformed a certain number oftimes during matches or battles,V2, L5, etc. will be added to themove name and the move willbecome stronger.

28 Special Tactics

There are three types of specialtactics: Attack, Defence and Other.Each type can be used in a differentsituation.

♦ When your team and the rivalteam attempt a special tactic atthe same time, the special tacticthat will be performed is decidedby each team's overall stats andthe strength of the tactics.

♦ After touching this icon, it willtemporarily be unavailable oncethe match has commenced again.

Types of Special Tactics

Touch to spendTTP (Team TP) andperform one of yourteam's special tactics.You can manuallyselect which special tactic to use.

29 Fighting Spirits

Fighting Spirit Effects

Touch to use oneof your players'Fighting Spirits. Selecta Fighting Spirit fromthe list.

Once a player hassummoned a FightingSpirit, their successrate when takingshots will greatlyincrease, as will the likelihood ofwinning command duels. Powerfulspirit moves will also becomeavailable to use.While a Fighting Spirit is on thepitch, the player's commands willchange and they will not be able toperform special moves.

♦ You can have up to three FightingSpirits on the pitch at one time ina match.

♦ After summoning a Fighting Spirit,once the match commences, the

icon will be temporarilyunavailable.

FSP (Fighting Spirit Points)

While a Fighting Spirit is on thepitch, FSP will be required to selectcommands, perform spirit moves andengage in Spirit Duels.When a Fighting Spirit's FSP runout, it will vanish. Once a Fighting

Spirit has left the pitch, the player'sFP will decrease significantly, so becareful.

If two players who have summonedFighting Spirits on opposite teamsintercept each other to gain controlof the ball, a Spirit Duel will takeplace.Spirit Duels are the same ascommand duels in that both playersface off and select a command.When aiming to keep or gainpossession of the ball, select KEEPor STEAL. The elements will influence theoutcome of command duels.In addition, if another player of thesame element type is nearby, theeffect will be doubled and thechance of winning will increase. Ifthree players of the same elementtype are near each other, then theeffect is tripled and the chance ofwinning is even higher.
