2 Game Introduction

In this game, youw il l e xplo re avariety of MysteryDungeons (p. 7).Form a party of upto four Pokémon and make your waythrough the dungeons while battlingenemies and using a wide range ofitems.

Your PokémonParad ise (p. 14)serves as the basefo r youradventures. Whilein Paradise, you can take on al lk inds of dif fe rent j ob requests(p. 15) from other Pokémon. Bycompleting job requests, you careceive rewards in the form (money) and items, and you will alsobe able to advance the story.

When you f irs tencounterParad ise, you' l lnotice there's nota whole lot in it .However, as you progress throughthe story, you'll gain the ability toprepare land. Then, you can buildnew facilities to help make Paradisebigger and better (p. 14)!

After progressing in the story toa ce rta in po int , you' l l gainaccess to Companion Mode. Thiswill let you take control of adifferent Pokémon in Paradise(not the main player Pokémon)and play with friends via localwireless (p. 22).

Companion Mode

♦ While in Companion Mode,you will be able to travel onlyto Paradise and the variousdungeons. Post Town will beunavailable, but its facil itieswill appear in Paradise.

Be sure to save your prog ressbefore quitting the game.

Saving outside Dungeons

Select SAVE fromthe menu (p. 21).You wil l also beable to save yourprogress wheneveryou rest at home, after ce rtainevents, and when you switch modes(p. 21).

Saving inside a Dungeon

While in a dungeon, you will havethe option to select QUICK SAVE(p. 20) from the menu. Selectingthis will create a temporary save fileand return you to the main menu.

♦ Your quick save data wil l bedeleted after you load your game.

7 Exploring Dungeons

You can go to a dungeon using thefollowing methods.

From the Crossroads

Mystery Dungeons are mysteriousplaces that appear inside caves,mountains, and other areas. Eachtime you enter one, the layout willbe different. Once you're inside, youcan leave a Mystery Dungeon onlyby finding your way to the very end,by being defeated, or by using anEscape Orb.

The crossroads liesbetween Paradiseand Post Town.Take the northernpath, and you' l lreach the Select Dungeon screen.

Through the Gate

I f you accept a j ob request inParadise (p. 15), the Request Gatewill open, allowing you to go to thedungeon for that job.

Each dungeon consists of multiplef loo rs, where you'l l f ind stairsleading to the next floor. Walk overthe s ta irs , and a message wi l lappear. If you choose YES, you willadvance to the next floor. You won'tbe able to return to previous floorsonce you've moved on.

Turns

Inside a dungeon, you wil l taketurns in the following order: you →your allies → enemy Pokémon. EachPokémon can take one action on itsturn. Your turn will not end until youtake an action.

♦ If you take too many turns on asingle floor in a dungeon, you willnot ice several gusts of w indbefore your character will beblown away , caus ing youradventure to fail.

Gridless Floors

Some floors insidea dungeon areg rid less unde rnormalcircumstances. Onthese floors, there are no turns, andyou can move about just like in PostTown or Paradise. However, if youapproach an enemy, the game willswitch to turn mode, and a battlewill begin.

You can cl ear a dungeon byreaching its final floor or by fulfillingthe conditions of the job that sentyou there. The resul ts o f yourdungeon explo rat ion wil l bedisplayed, and you can press toleave the dungeon.

MysteriosityAs youradventureprog resses,dungeons willbe assigned a l evel ofmysteriosity. In dungeons wherethe mysteriosity level is high,mysterious things will occur. Forexample, a dungeon may havespecial rules, or you may betemporarily warped to anotherdungeon.

Information about battles and itemsyou pick up will be displayed here.If you don't touch the controls for awhile, some play information (p. 16)will appear.

A ◎ will appear at ally Pokémon'sfeet, and a ◎ will appear at the feetof enemy Pokémon.

While you hold , the grid willappear and the direction you arefacing will be shown in orange.

♦ You can set it so that the grid isalways shown by opening themenu and selecting OTHERS,then OPTIONS (p. 20), andenabling the option.

10 Battling Enemies

You use moves to battle againstenemies. Defeat enemies to gainExp. Points. Once a Pokémon gainsenough Exp. Points, it wil l gain alevel and become stronger.

Use Moves

While holding ,press either , ,, or to use amove (p. 19) .Defeat an enemyand you'll gain Exp. Points. Usingmoves wil l deplete PP (PowerPoints). Once the PP for a movereaches 0, that move will no longerbe usable unt il t he PP isreplenished.

When your partybecomes fu ll y insync with eachother while inside adungeon, you canhold down and tap the TouchScreen to unleash a team attack.Your party comes together to dishout a devastat ing at tack on al lnearby enemies. Depending on thetype o f the Pokémon you arecontrolling, HP recovery and othereffects may be added to the teamattack.

Befriending PokémonAt a certain point in the story,you will gain access to QuagsireAssembly (p. 14). Afterward,whenever the leader of yourparty defeats an enemyPokémon in a dungeon, thatPokémon may ask to join yourteam.

♦ I f you al ready have fourmembers in your party whenyou let another Pokémon joinyour team, you' l l have toswi tch out or have thatPokémon go back and wait inParadise.

When a Pokémon reaches a certainlevel or uses a specific item, it mightevolve. By evolving, a Pokémonbecomes even stronger as its statswill rise, and it will be able to learnnew moves. Watch out, though!Enemy Pokémon inside dungeonscan evolve, too.

♦ You and your partner cannotevolve until after you completethe main story.

Paradise serves as the base for youradventures.

26 Discover a Magnagate!

Select DISCOVER A MAGNAGATE!to use the outer camera (R) of theNintendo 3DS system to search forthe entrance to a dungeon, knownas a Magnagate.

♦ The "Discover a Magnagate!"option will become available onthe main menu after you reach acertain point in the game.

Hold theNintendo 3DS inboth hands andmove it around tosearch for a roundshape. Line up the shape inside thecircle on the upper screen. If theshape is recognised, the screen willf l ash. Quick ly press i f thishappens. If you're successful, aMagnagate will appear!

♦ Some round shapes will not berecognised.

♦ Make sure the area you are in issufficiently lit.

♦ Select ERASE A DUNGEON todelete all records of a dungeonyou've previously found.

When you find a Magnagate, youcan enter a dungeon. The first timeyou enter a dungeon through aMagnagate, your Pokémon party willbe decided for you. Any items youobtain in this mode will be availablein the Deposit Box in the main game.
