AN HONOUR It doesn’t seem that long ago that I was writing my first newsletter as principal of Moree Public School and now I am writing my last. From the beginning of next year I will be talking leave until I retire. I have greatly enjoyed my time at MPS and there are too many highlights, both professional and personal, to mention. Needless to say, it has been a joy to watch so many happy smiling children come in through the gate each morning into an environment where each of them is known, valued and cared for. I have been truly fortunate to work with such a dedicated team of teachers and support staff and I thank them for making so many things possible for our students. In particular, I acknowledge the school executive whose dedication, skill and commitment to the school and most importantly to the students continues to be simply outstanding. I also thank the many parents and community members for your support and participation over the years. I am delighted to let you know that Mrs Hosegood will replace me as principal until the position is advertised. Mrs Hosegood is an experienced educator with a deep commitment to our school and our students. As the year comes to a close, the staff of Moree Public School would like to thank everyone who has contributed to our educational pursuits throughout 2018. This year has been a successful one, made so by a wonderful team effort involving staff, students and community. Our students have worked hard throughout the year and continue to arrive each day ready, willing and able to learn together. As a school community we can be extremely pleased with the effort the vast majority have put into learning and with what they have achieved. I am delighted to have received so many positive messages about our school from parents and community members throughout the year. MPS staff extend to all members of our school community their very best wishes for a relaxing, enjoyable and safe holiday. The choir, highland dancers and pipers have had a busy schedule of performances at various Moree community events including the Lions Christmas luncheon, Moree Respite House Christmas luncheon, Probus Christmas meeting, and the Moree Carols. While the students and their teachers enjoy performing and I am sure the audience members enjoy the entertainment, such opportunities also play an important role in teaching children the importance of being a generous citizen who is thoughtful to others. Congratulations to all involved – Miss March, Mr Roberts, Mrs Hunt and Mrs Hosegood and of course, thank you parents for supporting our endeavours to be involved in our very fine community. 1. AN HONOUR …

It doesn’t seem that long ago that I was writing my first newsletter as principal of Moree Public School and now I am writing my last. From the beginning of next year I will be talking leave until I retire. I have greatly enjoyed my time at MPS and there are too many highlights, both professional and personal, to mention. The infants disco was an entertaining evening with students inspired to dance, sing, play with their glo in the dark items and friends, snack and at times cheer their friends dancing. However, if activity, smiles, laughing and noise can be an indication, then I would have to say the infants disco was a huge success.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

We look forward to resuming school in 2019:

Staff – Tuesday 5th February Yrs 1-6 students – Wednesday 6th February

Twilight concert held last night was also a huge success with lots of talent on stage. We never cease to be amazed by the talented students we have in our school. Their enthusiasm to perform on stage is just brilliant! It is difficult to pick out one highlight, as so much was happening throughout the performances but I am sure that students will not only remember their role but also that of the teachers who bravely (creatively) took to the stage! What a nice way to finish our term! • A traditional Christmas luncheon was hosted by teachers and support staff for students and supporters of our Special Education unit, yesterday. What a marvellous occasion this proved to be with fantastic chefs and hosts creating a beautiful experience.

Appreciation for such generous support: Rabobank, Jukes & Sons Tyre Service, South Moree Butchery, Moree Town & Country Club, Balo Square Newsagency, Mr & Mrs S. Quinlan & Mr M Cichelli Mr A. King
