• Date Location Description• 5/13/07 Baltimore, MD Ethanol tank truck

crash on I-95 ramp, explosion & fire, driver fatality. Ramp closed for repairs.

• 10/22/06 New Brighton, PA Train derailment – 23 cars, explosion & fire. Community evacuation within 1 mile radius for 2 days.

• 5/17/04 Cairo, IL Explosion and fire at grain ethanol plant.

• 2/29/04 Portsmouth, VA (coast) Explosion – 570’ sea tanker with 3.5 million gallons, 21 fatalities.

• 9/13/02 Atkinson, KS Explosion and fires completely destroy grain ethanol plant.

Another Fatality from Ethanol

The next slide shows an ethanol fire that was the result of a tank truck crash of a tanker carrying ethanol. Tragically the driver was killed in this ethanol explosion.
