If you have submitted the Phase 1 application form but have not received an acknowledgement email from the school by Friday, 24 May 2019, please inform your child’s Form Teacher immediately. You will be informed of the outcome of your registration by Short Messaging System (SMS) on Monday, 8 July 2019. You do not need to collect the registration outcome from the school. Please note that this application is only for Singapore Citizens/Singapore Permanent Residents. If your child is not a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident, you may only register him/her under Phase 3 of the Primary One Registration Exercise. Non-SC / non-PR children are required to first submit an online indication of interest form in June 2019 [from 4 June 2019 (Tuesday), 9.00am to 10 Jun 2019 (Monday), 4.30pm]. Only non- SC/non-PR children who have indicated their interest and are informed by MOE in Oct that they can be offered a P1 place, will be able to register in Phase 3. Parents of non-SC / non-PR children can visit the Primary One Registration website for more information on admission to Primary One in year 2020. 2 Road safety in the school We would like to thank our parents for being gracious drivers by working very closely with our Parent Volunteers (PVs), Security Officers and Staff to ensure that the school is a safe place for everyone. We will like to continue the good work by reinforcing the following reminders: Driving slowly and carefully as drivers turn into Level 3 via Gate 2 or Level 1 via Bus Bay Using the car horn only for warning others of danger To enhance the security of the school, we would like to inform that all of our security guards will be equipped with personal worn cameras from Term 3 onwards to capture footage on the go. The footages will be used for security purposes such as surveillance on suspicious strangers or in road accidents where evidence may be useful for an insurance claim. 3 Safety in the school bus The safety of children in school buses is a shared responsibility and parents play a pivotal role in teaching children to belt up and to be safe at all times, no matter how short the journey is. This means that your children will be safely strapped while travelling on the school buses and enjoy a safer journey to and from school. We seek parents’ assistance in helping the school to reinforce the importance of wearing seat belts in school buses. We will like to continue the good work by reinforcing the following reminders:

imposed upon the school bus drivers or bus attendants for failing to ensure that the children passengers are belted appropriately. This applies for all school buses including those for daily commute, learning journeys and competitions. Please find attached Annex A- Letter to parents from the Singapore Traffic Police in 2011. You may also find out more about on the FAQs on the revised seat belt rules here We also encourage parents to reinforce the seat belt rules when travelling with your children in private vehicles. Together, we can help our students understand the importance of adhering to the seat belt rules to ensure their safety. 4 Encouraging students to be independent Forgotten Items/ homework We would like to seek the assistance of parents and caregivers to help our students develop good self-management skills and take personal responsibility to ensure that they have the necessary items for school the next day. Parents and caregivers should refrain from delivering forgotten items. Exceptions will be made when medication has to be delivered to the pupils. Pocket Money If your child has forgotten his/her pocket money, he/she may approach the General Office for assistance. Our officers will contact you to confirm the amount that you would like the school to lend your child. We seek the co-operation of our parents to ensure that the money is returned promptly to the General Office on the next school day. During examinations, the working condition of the calculator and e-dictionaries is the responsibility of the pupil and a fault in a calculator cannot be used as a reason for seeking special consideration for the user. Calculators, dictionaries, mathematical sets or stationeries must not be borrowed from other pupils in the course of the examination for any reason. We appreciate your understanding in this matter as well as your partnership by reinforcing this in your child. 5 Assessment matters The school believes both formative and summative assessments are integral parts of our pupils’ learning process. Semestral Assessments (SAs) in the school also provide insights to our pupils’ learning and as such, we seek your cooperation in ensuring that your child / ward is present during the periods of assessment for all subjects. If your child / ward is absent for an assessment, his/her Subject Teacher will pass the assessment paper(s) for your child / ward to attempt them as practice. It will not be counted as part of the Semestral Assessment (SA). Marks will be pro-rated for pupils who submit their medical certificate (MC). A mark of zero will be given to pupils who are absent without a reason deemed valid by the school. We will also like to inform that the school will not be conducting any make-up for the written examination papers except for the P4 for Subject-Based Banding purpose and P6. Please do not hesitate to discuss with the Form or Subject Teacher of your child / ward should you have any concerns regarding his/her learning progress. 6 Returning of report books The report books will be issued to parents/guardians during the Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM)/ Parent-Child-Teacher Conference (PCTC) on Thursday, 30 May 2019. If you are unable to attend the PTM/PCTC, your child may collect it from his/her Form Teacher the next day or you may arrange to pick it up from the General Office after Monday, 3 June 2019. Please note that the operating hours of the General Office during the school holidays will be from 0800-1700.

There is no change in school timing on that day. 11 Eat With Your Family Day “Eat with Your Family Day” (EWYFD) is a nation-wide event led by the Centre For Fathering and supported by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), to encourage all Singaporeans to consciously set aside time on that day to be with their families. Through the simple practice of having a family meal, we hope the event will serve as a reminder to families to encourage them to eat together regularly. As shared in our PLTP (April), HPPS and our Student Care Centre (SCC-ProTeach) will support this and would like to inform our parents of the EWYFD dates for 2019 as follows: • Friday, 31 May 2019 • Friday, 6 September 2019 (Scheduled school holiday – Teacher’s Day) • Friday, 15 November 2019 (Last day of school) Please note that on these days, the General Office and SCC will close by 5.00pm. We seek the co-operation of our parents to make the necessary arrangement and enjoy a day with your family. 12 School holidays The students will have their mid-year school holidays from 1-30 June 2019. They will report back to school on Monday, 1 July 2019. Please note that Sunday, 7 July 2019 is Youth Day and the following Monday, 8 July 2019 will be a scheduled school holiday. Students will return to school on Tuesday, 9 July 2019. The P6s will be having their revision classes from 24-26 June 2019. More information will be provided through the AYH. The teachers will be on their protected school holidays from 1-16 June 2019. During this period, most of the teachers are not in school and may not have access to their emails. Parents are advised to contact them after 16 June 2019. Most teachers will return to school from 24 June 2019.

13 Travel declaration using Parents Gateway For the June Holidays, it is compulsory for parents of all current P1 parents to declare the travel plans of their P1 children regardless of travel intent. For P1 children who are not travelling out of Singapore during this period, a ‘NIL’ return is required. For the other levels (Primary Two to Six), parents need to declare the travel plans of their children only if their children intend to travel. Parents are to make their declaration using the Parents Gateway (PG) app. This new feature will be available on the app after the 14 May 2019. For caregivers who do not have access to PG, please approach your child’s Form Teacher for a hard copy of the Travel Declaration Form. Please complete the travel declaration for your child(ren) by 24 May 2019. 14 Parents Gateway Parents Gateway (PG) will serve as the school’s main communication channel with parents. We would like to inform parents of the new features on Parents Gateway as shown below. These features will be available after 14 May 2019. Update Contact Details Parents will be able to update their own contact information (mobile numbers, residential numbers, other contact numbers as well as email addresses) via the Parents Gateway app. However, if there is a change in student’s residential address, parents are to download the Request Form for Updating of Student’s Address from the school website (Circulars & Forms) and submit the hard copy to the school. Collection of Data FormSG is a form builder tool developed by GovTech’s Data Science & Artificial Intelligence Capability Centre. To support schools in the collection of sensitive data for various programmes in schools, we will make use of FormSG via Parents Gateway. This will support the school in gathering information for programmes such as Parent-Teacher Meeting, CCA Registration, Camp Registration, and Overseas Trip. 15 Hari Raya Puasa On behalf of my staff, we would like to wish all Muslim families a joyous celebration and Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. The school will be closed on Wednesday, 5 June 2019. The students will celebrate Hari Raya Puasa and commemorate Racial Harmony Day on Wednesday, 17 July 2019 when they return to school. 16 Parenting article “From parents to parents: Want to raise successful children?” The Possibilities panel took place in July 2018. It was an MOE forum featuring a range of angel investors, HR experts and polytechnic lecturers who had a variety of job experience. They spoke directly to parents who had concerns about their children’s future. Find out more on their thoughts on how to help children prepare for the future. You may read more from this article.
