Important Information … MPS website: www.moree-p.schools.nsw.edu.au/ Thurs, 4 th December – Annual Presentation Ceremony 6.00pm at Moree Memorial Town Hall • Mon 15 th Dec - Performing Arts concert - band, Studio Time, Drumming, Choir, Musical Minds, Jun, Sen & Highland Dance 1. PRINCIPAL Studio Time: I hope parents were able to listen to the Harvey Norman School News on 2VM last Thursday and Friday mornings. In fact let me take this opportunity to urge all families to listen each morning as another opportunity to catch up on the day’s happening. Last week, Marina Shelton, Courtney Bridge, Chloe Makim and Josie Orr represented the twelve students from MPS Studio Time Program as they were interviewed by Ando to launch two new songs: The other side of the door and Brand new day. Studio Time is a program that develops the interests and talents of students in writing, recording and performing songs. The program is now in its third year during which I have had the great pleasure of listening to the high quality songs – all have a positive and uplifting message, recorded by the students. The music and lyrics are simply outstanding! I congratulate Mr McDonald and all of the students involved on their tremendous work. There will be several live performances later in the year by Marina, Courtney, Chloe, Josie, Grace Carter, Andrew Kirk, Olivia Garland, Elka Devney, Ashlee Moore, Jorja Warrener, Charlotte Finlay and Maddie Watts. Former Student Appreciation: Today, another lovely gesture by former MPS student (1983-1989), Mr Wayne Tighe and daughter Elyne, (Year 4). Kind deeds make wonderful memories – thank you Wayne and Elyne for this new addition to the infants playground – a beautiful Manchurian Pear tree Premiers Reading Challenge: A large number of MPS students completed the 2014 Premiers Reading Challenge so I was pleased to receive their certificates in the mail last week. Two students have done an exceptional job in completing the challenge for four consecutive years and will receive Gold Award certificates. Completing the challenge is not easy - it requires commitment and effort. To be eligible for a certificate, students in Years 3-6 were required to read twenty books and K-2 students read thirty. I congratulate and thank the parents who supported their child/ren in completing the Challenge. Research certainly confirms that children who read for pleasure are the best readers and families that read together provide the strongest model for future readers. Congratulations go to all students who successfully completed the challenge. Their names will go onto the Premiers Reading Challenge Honour Roll. I look forward to handing the students their certificates at assemblies on Friday and thank librarian, Mrs Beattie for organising our school participation in the challenge. Head Start to Kindergarten: This week we welcome all of the Moree pre-schools back for their second morning session in the classroom with the kindergarten teacher. Yesterday, Aussie Kids children arrived with big smiles, this morning children and staff from Kiah attended. Tomorrow Moree Pre-school, Good Start Pre-school and Gwydir Pre-school will attend and on Thursday, Grace Lutheran Pre-school will make their way to us. We do thank the teachers from each of the pre-schools for their ongoing support (over a number years) and organising for the groups to attend MPS for transition in readiness for their 2015 start. MPS Annual Presentation Ceremony: I am looking forward to celebrating the achievements of Moree Public School students at the 2014 annual presentation ceremony on Thursday, 4 th December. The evening commences at 6:00pm (sharp) at the Moree Memorial Town Hall and all MPS children, parents and family are most welcome to attend. Children who are receiving an award, certificate of appreciation or performing will receive a note next Monday. All children attending must wear correct summer school uniform and sit with their class and teacher. Please join us for the celebration. Tuesday, 25 th November 2014 20142014

Assembly: Congratulations to KW-10 and Miss Williams on hosting a wonderful assembly last Friday. Kindergarten children have grown in stature and in confidence as they handle the microphone duties with ease and perform in front of a large audience. The audience was delighted and amused when the class danced to Splish Splash. Well done KW-10 and thank you Miss Williams. On Friday, 1M-4 will host the assembly at 10:30am in the hall near the office. Parents are welcome to come along.

HEAD LICE The issue of head lice arise from time to time in all schools and as a timely reminder we ask that parents to continue to regularly check your child’s hair for possible eggs and/or head lice.
