Overall objective of WFD

• achieve at least “good status” of all waters by 2015

• maintain “high status” of waters where it exists

• prevent any deterioration in existing status of waters

• Management must be planned and implemented, through Management Plans, in a way that achieves the best possible balance between the protection and improvement of the water environment and the interests of those who depend on it for their livelihood and quality of life

• Total Cost of approx 11 million euro.
