Are There Meanings to These Plants?

The Fruits of the Festivals PRESENTATION PURPOSE

1. Give you something to “chew” on.2. Describe the physical characteristics of these fruits. 3. Present their *possible* spiritual metaphors / meanings

which may represent the similar characteristics, calling, and rewards for all humanity in 3 steps---3 festivals:

4. Encourage you to reach higher (Phil 3:14) to be an overcomer (Rev 21:7)...and with a new name Rev 2:17---which potentially represents our developed spiritual character.

4

The Fruits of the Festivals PRESENTATION PURPOSE

REMEMBER Paul’s and Peter’s statements:1. 1Cor 13:12 Now all we can see of God is like a cloudy picture in a mirror.

Later we will see him face to face. We don't know everything, but then we will, just as God completely understands us. (CEV)

2. 2Pet 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. (KJV)

Meaning what?Consider this presentation in the above light only as a springboard for learning,

food for thought, and further study on your part.whY?

We are just beginning to understand the meanings of the fruits. This is where “I” am at “now”

Others will further refine, define and mine the depths of understanding.

II. FOUNDATONSMen are blinded…

Rom 11:7 What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeks for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded.

John 12:40 He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

2 Cor 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

Rom 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in

7

II. FOUNDATONSMen are blinded…UNLESS they are called.

Matt 11:27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knows the Son, but the Father; neither knows any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw (G1670) him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, *will* (future tense) draw (G1670) all men unto me. (G1670 Gr: Literally “to drag” as in Jas 2:6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?

II. FOUNDATONSThe Plan of Salvation in place…BEFORE earth was created.Heb 1:10 And, You, Lord, in the beginning has laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of your hands:

Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

John 17:24 Father, I will that they also, whom thou have given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which you have given me: for you loved me before the foundation of the world.

Matt 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Gen 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years

9

II. FOUNDATONSThe Plan of Salvation in place…BEFORE earth was created.1Pet 1:19-20 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: 20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you.

2Tim 1:9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

Eph 1:4 According as He hath chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love:

IF GOD BLINDS and CALLS…----Who is ultimately responsible for our salvation?----Mar 1:14 …Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the

kingdom of God,

10

II. FOUNDATONSThe Plan of Salvation in place…BEFORE earth was created.

For Further Study…what does “time” mean?1Tim 2:5-6 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified(G3142) in due time. G3142 also translated as testimony and witness.

What “due time” is being spoken of?Is a due time a due ‘season’ ?

Does Daniel 7:25 say time (H2166) is a season?Deut 11:14 That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou may gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil. Jer 5:24 ….Let us now fear the LORD our God, that gives rain, both the former and the latter, in his season: he reserves unto us the appointed weeks of the harvest.

11

II. FOUNDATONSThe Plan of Salvation in place…the Moed

• Festivals and Fruits goes all the way back to Genesis: Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of

the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons (moed), and for days, and years:

For example: Lev 23:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts (moed) of the YHVH, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.

Genesis 14:18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

Genesis 3:18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and you shall eat the herb (H6212) of the field;

Strongs H6212 ‛eseb eh'-seb From an unused root meaning to glisten (or be green); grass (or any tender shoot): - grass, herb

• Psalm 104:15 And wine that makes glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine (i.e. be cheerful), and bread which strengthens man's heart.

DEFINITION OF GRAIN The Hebrew word for barley is sehoraw. Strong’s Concordance: feminine form= “plant,” and masculine form =“grain.” Bar is another word for grain. In Gen. 41:35 and 49 Joseph gathered grain in preparation for the coming famine. The King James Version translates it “corn,” but this was not corn in the modern sense of the word, for Egypt did not grow corn. Corn is an old English word for grain in general, but in modern times the word has acquired a more specific definition and refers to a specific grain. Bar, or “grain,” may possibly be the root of our modern word for barley. Bar has other meanings: SON, in the sense of an heir. For example, Barabbas (John 18:40) means “son of the father,” and Barnabas means “son of consolation” (Acts 4:36).

TOPIC TabernaclesWater Pouring Tradition at the Temple during the Feast?—Does it come from Elijah?

Josephus in Antiquities, VIII, xiii, 2 states the following:"Now Menander (A Greek playwriter 3 centuries earlier) mentions this drought [of Elijah] in his account of the acts of Ethbaal, king of the Tyrians [and the father of Jezebel, Ahab's wife], where he says thus: 'Under him, there was a want of rain from the month Hyperberetaeus till the month Hyperberetaeus (i.e. Tishri---the 7th month!) of the year following; (one year?-no an error) but when he made supplications, there came great thunders. This Ethbaal built the city Botrys, in Phoenicia, and the city Auza, in Libya.' By these words he designed the want of rain that was in the days of Ahab; for at that time it was that Ethbaal also reigned over the Tyrians, as Menander informs us.“

Consider this: 7 of Elijah’s 8 miracles were answered immediately. Why would he have to pray 7 times in one day then? Did the 7 times plus the day of heavy rain actually take place over 8 days? Do we really know? NO. Does it appear plausible? YES.

32

IV. Harvest StoriesTOPIC Tabernacles

Water Pouring Tradition at the Temple during the Feast?—Where does it come from?

Why did not Elijah write the details in Scripture? An Opinion: The role of a prophet is to communicate the Word. Do not add or diminish the Word of God. (Deut 4:2).

Mat 13:17 For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them; and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

V. Hebrew Entymology & Agri-Bio LinguisticsWhat does Barley, Wheat, and Grape Mean?*

My *Caveats*: I am *not* a Hebrew scholar.

I am presenting my understanding taken from 2 other ministries who have written on Hebrew words, their roots, and root meanings.

No others (that I know of) have addressed these meanings of the fruits---and I stand to be corrected by others who know much more than I!

That being said----Let’s move ON!

WHEAT-A*-- -- family / house of chiefs;also translated as grain

GRAPE *-- --watching for (or the knowledge of) a new generation growing from the house of chiefs(?)

3 letter root is *-- Bet–house / familynun–seed sprouting / new generationayin–watching /knowledge

35

V. Hebrew Entymology & Agri-Bio LinguisticsWhat does the word “Omer” Mean?

TOPIC Unleavened Bread

WAVE SHEAF OFFERINGA bundle of separate barley grains, from a number of plants, amounting to an "omer" -- about 4.5 pints or 2.1 liters – a person’s daily supply of manna.

OMER means “heap," and is usually translated "sheaf."Spelled with three Hebrew letters:Ayin means "an eye," and indicates seeing, acknowledging, or watching.Mem means "water."Resh means "head," often in the sense of a leader.Means: “watching for water on the head."Be preparing and watching for the outpouring of the Spirit. When does this occur…on Pentecost.

VALUE Leviticus 27:16. Again, if a man consecrates to the Lord part of the fields of his own property, then your valuation shall be proportionate to the seed needed for it; a homer of barley seed at fifty shekels of silver (about 13 ounces).Fifty is the number of Pentecost and Jubilee. Also note that the Scriptural “free market” is stable and does not change.

BAPTISMS Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire.Dan 3:26-27 Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego…come forth out of the fire…27 upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.Zec 13:9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.

What does Paul say?Phil 3:11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection (G1815) of the dead.

Dr. Bullinger (Bible Commenter) comments on this passage in his marginal notes in The Companion Bible. He tells us that the Greek word "exanastasis ek nekron" means OUT-RESURRECTION FROM AMONG THE DEAD. He says that the normal term used is simply "anastasis nekron," which is the resurrection of the dead--meaning all of the dead. But "EXanastasis EK nekron," he writes, "implies the resurrection of some, the former of these two classes, the others behind left behind.“Heb 11:35 A better resurrection before Rev. 20:5

VI. Harvest MetaphorsTwo Resurrections: First Resurrection

Rev 20:-6 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. Luk 14:14 And thou shall be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shall be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.

Second ResurrectionRev 20:5 But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished.Rev 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. John 5:28-29 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.Act 24:15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.

Luke 12:42-44 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? 43 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. 44 Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.Rev 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

Second ResurrectionLuke 12:45-48 But and if that servant, (NOTE: a *believer*) say in his heart, My lord delays his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be drunken; 46 The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looks not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers. 47 And that servant, (NOTE: a *believer*), which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. 48 But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.

(NOTE: speaking of believers) 12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. 14 If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 15 If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. Mal 3:2-3 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appears? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap: 3 And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.
