The Sabbath: Was Created by God Himself

• The bible says:• “And on the seventh day

God ended His work…and He rested on the seventh

day from all His work..And God blessed the seventh

day and sanctified it: because that in it He had

rested from all His work..” Genesis 2:2,3

The Sabbath: A Memorial of Creation

• The Sabbath was established at the end of

the creation week. If mankind observe the Sabbath the Creator

could never be forgotten. Also, the command in

Exodus identifies God as creator and... It is His

Sabbath! • Exodus 20:10,11

The Sabbath: Was Made For Man

• The Bible Says:• Jesus Says:

• “The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath.”

Sabbath observance helps make us happy. Spiritual rest and worship of God is necessary for total well-

being. Physical, Mental & Spiritual health!

• Isaiah 58:13,14• “If thou turn away thy foot

from the Sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my

holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight…Then shalt thou delight thyself

in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the

high places of the earth…”

The Sabbath: Not for our own pleasure/not to be Desecrated

What should be our attitude towards the Sabbath (rest) day?

Jesus is Lord of The Sabbath• Mark 2:28 “Therefore the

Son of Man is Lord also of the Sabbath.”!

• Jesus is Lord & Co-Creator Genesis 1:26 “..let us make man..”

• John 1:1-3 &14:“In the beginning was the Word.. and the Word was God… All things were made by Him…And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.”

Jesus performed several healing miracles on the

Sabbath.

The Sabbath: Was/Is A Part of God’s Commandments

• “Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy…the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God, in it thou shalt not do any work…For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.”

The Sabbath: Was Kept (as part of God’s laws) - Before Mt. Sinai

• “..Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes and my laws.”

• Genesis 26:5• “..Noah found GRACE..”

Genesis 6:8. If there was no law there could be no sin, without sin there would be no talk of grace!

The Sabbath: Kept Before Sinai

• Exodus 20: 8 “Remember the Sabbath day..”

• Exodus 16:4, 29, 30• “..that I may prove

them, whether they will walk in my law or no…the Lord hath given you the Sabbath.. So the people rested on the seventh day.”

The Sabbath: Those who keep it will be blessed.

• Isaiah 56:2• “Blessed is the man

that…keepeth the Sabbath from polluting it.”

Attending church on the Sabbath is very profitable for spiritual

The Sabbath: Will be Observed in the New Earth

• Isaiah 66: 23• “And it shall come to

pass that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.”

The Sabbath: Is a Sign of Consecration/Covenant With God

• Ezekiel 20:12,20• “Moreover also I gave them my

*Sabbaths to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctify them. And hallow my Sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God.”

The Sabbath: Has a Counterfeit

• Daniel 7:25• “And he shall speak

great words against the Most High, and wear out the saints of the Most High, and think to change times and laws…”

• The Counterfeit Sabbath Day is Sunday - set up by man (Matt. 15:9)

The “change” of the day was inspired by the same fiend that

tempted Jesus Christ in the wilderness!”

Jesus Kept The Sabbath

• Luke 4:16 • “..and as his custom

was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up for to read.”

• He kept it…even in the grave!

The Disciples Kept The Sabbath

• Acts 13:14• “But when they departed

from Perga, they came to Antioch.. and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and sat down.”

The Sabbath: Was Not Changed by Jesus

• Matthew 5:17,18• “Think not that I am come to

destroy the law..I am come to fulfil. Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.”

• Matthew 15:9

• “But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.”

Jesus died because someone had to pay the ultimate penalty for sin..and sin is the transgression

of the law!

The Observance of the Sabbath, As Part of the Commandments, Gives us Right to the

Tree of Life • Revelation 22: 2

• “In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river,

was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits…”

(read chapter 21)

• Revelation 22:14

• “Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may

have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates

into the city.”

The Tree of Life is in the New Jerusalem.
