AWARENESS SEMINAR ON THE EVE OF WORLD AIDS DAY

Mr. Salman Mubarak urged the participants to spread maximum awareness to minimize the AIDS positive cases. He said that said the HIV AIDS is rapidly increasing in the country and if precautionary measures were not taken immediately, this would result in a disaster for the nation. One fundamental reason for its increase is unawareness about the disease and its treatment. Even today, people going for HIV AIDS tests are considered as outcast and treated with malice. It is amazing to note that the disease is spreading more in underdeveloped countries than the developed ones. Another important thing to know is that the disease doesn't spread from sexual relations only, rather transfusion of affected blood and use of improperly sterilized surgical instruments are mostly reported ways of receiving the disease. There is a dire need to spread awareness among society in this regard. He also informed the students about preventive measures to avoid HIV. Mr. Naeem Toor emphasized on improper life style of youth and taking drugs, which ultimately become the root cause of getting infected by HIV AIDS. A documentary was also presented at the event, wherein a woman carrying HIV AIDS was shown being treated voluntarily.
