Brief technology description

• Tritium sources of soft beta-radiation (BITr-M) are the main component of developed eliminators. The sources represent a thin film (0,5 µm) made of titanium saturated with hydrogen isotope-tritium which is deposited on backing made of molybdenum. The working surface of the source is covered with the protective film made of silicon monoxide or dioxide.

• Tritium used in BITr-M is a pure beta-radiator which emits the lowest maximum energy (18,6 keV) among all known isotopes. It allows practically the unlimited use of the developed eliminators in production premises without taking special measures of radiation protection and in a number of cases these eliminators have no alternative.

• The operating principle of eliminators results in air ionization with electrons, irradiated by the sources and in the following interaction of charges in electrified materials with formed air ions of opposite polarity. Ionization current produced by BITr-M is 1,5.10-8 A/cm2.

5

• As a function of production conditions the different schemes of eliminator structure are possible. In one case the sources are set in proximity from electrifiable material (1-3 cm) and the ionization current is maintained owing to the electrostatic charge. The necessary value of ionization current from the working surface is provided by a choice of a set of BITr-M sources.

• The eliminators which meet the specific customer's requirements may be developed.

• The eliminator service life is no less than8 years.

FIELDS OF APPLICATION

• The eliminators are used in chemical, textile, printing and other industrial branches manufacturing and retreating the film, sheet and powder materials which are electrized in the process of technological cycle.

7

Purpose

• They are designed to eliminate the electrostatic charge arising during the retreatment of highly electrizing materials. The use of eliminators allows to exclude the violation of technological process (material sealing, its crushing, the photomaterial exposure etc.) and to increase the work safety (excluding the probability of fires and explosions connected with spark formation, decreasing the value of electrostatic fields to safety levels etc.)
