LAND AUCTIONMonday, November 12 - 10 a.m.

Kretzinger Auction Building, Corning, IowaHwy. 34/148 intersection, 1/2 mile East

Property: 154.29 Taxable Acres: Adams County, Nodaway Township, Sections 20 & 21. Located from Hwy. 34/N26 (Nodaway corner) 3.5 mi. south to 260th St. (H54) east less than 1/10 mi. to southwest corner of property. Property runs approx. 1 mile along north side of road. Property currently has 57.53 acres in CRP program and contract will end Sep-tember 30, 2014, with annual payments of $86.90 per acre. 2013 and 2014 payments go to new buyer. Balance of farm is currently being used for pasture. Combined CRP acres and FSA tillable acres equal 115.05 tillable acres with balance tim-ber for excellent hunting opportunities and two ponds. CSR average is 44.77 but is somewhat misleading because of timber acres. There has been some terracing and tile and improve-ments on this farm and all tillable acres have been in CRP or pasture for many years.Property has a few older buildings used for livestock and feed. There is rural water and electricity on property. The west 20 acre pasture was sprayed October, 2012, with ForeFront HL for weed control and is labeled to be pasture or grass hay in 2013. Taxes are currently $1538.00 per year with an average of $9.97 per acre. FSA bases are currently combined with other farms so will need to be refigured for new buyer. Informa-tion received from sources believed to be reliable. Auction-eers and sellers do not guarantee their accuracy. Buyers are invited to do their own research prior to auction. Terms: 10% down payment day of auction with balance due approx. 30 days at Richard Wilson Attorney Office, Lenox, IA. when clear deed and abstract will be presented to new buyer. Possession at same time approx. Dec. 12, 2012. Taxes prorated to date of possession.

Letter to the Citizens of Nodaway CountyThis is an era that as much as many would hate to admit it, partisan politics are stronger than ever and play a key role in elections. Oftentimes a very good candidate, or public servant, is defeated due to party affiliation and not their qualities. This is very unfortunate! The voters this November will have a clear choice for the office of South District Commissioner of Nodaway County. A newcomer to poli-tics and public service is seeking Commissioner Bob Stiens’ job. I call it a job because that is exactly how Bob Stiens treats this office. Bob Stiens “Comes to Work to Work.” There is not a more dedicated public servant than Stiens. Coupled with his strong farm background work ethic, Bob Stiens is very knowledgeable concerning roads, bridges, rock and gravel, tubes and drainage systems, and all facets of our rural infrastructure. His common sense approach in taking care of county government is in-valuable and would be sorely missed if he is not re-elected. The citizens of the South District have an opportunity to re-elect an Associate Commissioner that has common sense values, an untiring work ethic, the knowledge of Nodaway County’s infrastructure, and a strong leadership role in handling all facets of county government.County government is big business, a very large business, that handles not only a great sum of money annually, but must oversee a huge infrastructure; budgeting for all offices of county government, the maintenance of the courthouse, the Administration Center, the jail, and county equipment including the road and bridge department, the sheriff ’s fleet of vehicles for public safety, and all other equip-ment necessary for proper public service. Bob Stiens is a very prudent steward of our tax dollars and scrutinizes all requests and needs with an intent to get the most value from our tax dollars while pro-viding the best services for all of Nodaway County citizens. We the voters in Nodaway County’s South District have the opportunity to place our confidence in Bob Stiens’ continuing leadership role for our district and the entire county by voting for him November 6. Bob Stiens’ experience and dedication make him the wise choice!Resident of Nodaway County South District,Joe Baumli

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS | ASSISTANCE

Help Someone You LoveKNOW A PERSON WITH BREAST CANCER? BE SUPPORTIVE.

There are some things you can do to help, though. From dealing with the cancer fighter’s emotional needs to their physical needs like transportation and food, you can make their burden a little lighter.

MEDICAL HELPThe process of getting breast

cancer treatment can be exhaust-ing and time-consuming. Look for anything you can do to help make the process easier for the cancer patient and their family.

One place to start is transporta-tion. For a close friend or family member, you can go along to their doctor visits for moral support, and you can help coordinate rides to get them to and from the doc-tor.

And, because insurance compa-nies aren’t always easy to deal with, offer to help them fill out paperwork and keep all their med-ical information organized. The more you can help with the mun-dane things, the more your loved one can focus on their cancer

fight and living a full life.

HOUSEHOLD HELPCancer also takes a serious toll on

day-to-day life in most cases, which is why it’s important to offer as much help as possible around the house.

Start with food. You can offer to do grocery shopping, cook meals or arrange for food to be delivered to their house. If your loved one belongs to a church, that can be a great place to turn for help with meals.

You can also offer to help with the countless household chores that need to be done including laundry, taking care of pets, doing yard work and cleaning the house. If they have children, offer to help watch them or arrange for their care.

EMOTIONAL HELPSince every person’s cancer

experience is different, the most important thing to remember is to be a good listener. Find out what

their needs are by listening closely to what they’re saying, and be ready to offer plenty of support and encouragement.

You should be honest about your feelings and share them openly. You should also respect their wishes for how information

on their health should be shared. If they want to keep it private, or only tell a few close people, it’s important that you honor their desires.

Finally, one tip can’t be overem-phasized: be ready to give plenty of hugs.

When someone you love has breast cancer, the feelings can be overwhelming. Just knowing where to start can be difficult.
