Who is my audience?
Read with me: My audience is that group of
people who have a need that I can fill. Or a
problem I can solve.
Your audience has a problem, so how do you solve it?You need to understand the do’s and dont’s
of content marketing.
Do:
Find relevant forums (discussion boards)
in your industry, and read a few
threads.
Better yet, go to Quora and search for
relevant questions from your audience.
Don’t:Reply on Google Keywords Tool alone. Because the tool doesn’t show the questions that your audience is asking.97% of the time, keywords are not questions.
Do:
Create content using the relevant
questions you found on Quora.
For example, say you found the question
“what are the best social media
dashboard tools” – use the question as
it appears in your article headline.
Don’t:Create one type of content. Write articles, create videos and podcasts.
Turn your text-based content into an infographic. 100% of your audience wants variety of content.
Do:
Share your content on Blogging
communities, where like-minded
marketers gather.
Go to Google and do a search with this
string blogging community + “your
keyword”
Don’t:Monetize your site unless you’ve at least 1000 email subscribers, or daily organic visitors.
If you’re yet to hit the 1k milestone, forget about ‘money’ and just focus on building your audience.
Do:
Qualitative analysis on industry blogs,
and pitch your guest post.
In fact, write more guest post than you
contribute to your own blog. That’s
how to grow your audience faster.
Don’t:Outsource content writing to any so-called
writer who doesn’t know your subject in and out.Don’t hire a writer from UpWork or any job
board. Hire through your social media networks, or kindly ask an expert to refer
a knowledgeable writer to you.
