Page 2 - From the General Manager

From the General Manager Ladies and Gentlemen:As our fiscal year comes to an end, I would like to take this opportunity to thank youall for your support throughout the entire year. We have had the most active Decemberin several years and have increased the number of members who have attended ourholiday events over 25% from last year.

As you have read in the previous letters, banquet business and membership are the keydrivers in any private club’s success. We are no exception! In regard to banquets,November, December and January have been tremendous months, exceeding allexpectations! We expect to come very close to achieving an extremely assertivebudget of $433,000 for this fiscal year ending March 31, 2013. This was only possibledue to your continued support in either hosting an event or being a member sponsorfor an event. Please continue your efforts!

In regard to membership, again many thanks to those who have brought in newmembers to our CCC family. I am thrilled to let you know we welcomed 49 new/returning members over the past 9 months.

With the end of our fiscal year approaching, it is again time to elect new boardmembers. It is my distinct pleasure to thank the following board members who will becompleting their terms in March; Robert Flowers, Leo Berard, Walter Calhoun andBart Middlebrooks. These gentlemen have worked many hours and given so much oftheir time in order to ensure the continued success of our Club. With the economicenvironment in which we are living today, that has been no easy task. It has been apleasure working side by side with each of them for the past 3 years and, again, pleasejoin me in thanking them for their outstanding service.

On a sad note, we will say goodbye to our Assistant Golf Professional, Scott Rich. Hewill be moving to Utah in February. Scott has been responsible for assisting Brianwith the Jr. Golf Program as well as with tournaments. He has brought a freshperspective to many events and programs, thus we are very thankful for the time thatScott has been with us. Please stop by the shop and wish him all the best with his newendeavors.

As always, please stop by my office, send me an e-mail or call if you have anysuggestions or comments. Your ideas are what help make this the very best Clubaround!

Sincerely,

Carol Edell, CCM

Words from William,

Well, it’s the middle of winter but you never know if it’s goingto be 37° or 73°. So far it has been a mild winter and I hope itcontinues to be above average in the temperature department.

We are in the process of completing our winter golf maintenanceprojects. We have planted another 25 long leaf pine trees toreplace trees that have been lost to lightning strikes, drought andbeetles.

We will be refurbishing sand in the bunkers. New sand will beadded where needed and a uniform coat will be applied to allbunkers. In conjunction with cleaning up the last of the fallingleaves, we will be adding new pine straw mulch to all of ourshrub beds and all wooded and non-turf areas.

As mowing begins this spring, we will be re-contouring some ofthe fairways as well as providing more fairway landing area forthe golfers who don’t hit it as far as some of our best players. We hope to make a more enjoyable experience fo all of ourgolfing members.

Thank you,

William SmithCertified Golf Course Superintendent([email protected])

Tennis News Page 9

Tennis NewsFrom Your Tennis Pro...!!!

Well, we have survived another end of the world prediction; thistime by the Mayans. So let’s look forward to another great yearof tennis. Happy 2013! I know it’s a little late, but the Clubberrelease schedule threw me off a bit.

2012 was a great year with growth in our junior programs, winning the Evert Cup, and having the best Club Championshipever. We helped host the Southern Sectional Senior Tournamentwhich let us see some familiar faces of local players who wonthe state tournament. LTA had its annual Toys for TotsChristmas Social with CCC collecting at least twenty-five giftsfor some deserving kids. Over a dozen CCC kids played in theToy Tournament at Cooper Creek.

January brought the Winter Chill Tournament where CCC hadgood representation again with a few winners. Marianna Swiftwon the 10s and Betsy Blanchard won the 12s. Further resultsare listed below.

Our tri-level event was our most recent outing. We had 24players and lots of fun on a warm January afternoon. There wasa great mix of levels and even the new face of Terrell VanIngen.Of course Adult League has started again and Mixed Leaguecame to a close. Thanks to John Anderson and Steven and MaryAllen Tondee for captaining the 7.0 and 6.0 mixed teams.

February brings cold weather and our Mixed-up Davis CupRound Robin. The date for this event is planned for Friday,February 22nd. So for the “slow” time of year we are still goingpretty strong.

Again, Happy New Year and we hope to see you on the courts.
