More about 10 Minute CBT
CBT offers the best evidence-based psychological treatment for many common emotional and physical
disorders. ‘10 Minute CBT’ is a flexible, unique concept, designed to be applied flexibly and quickly to
maximise the effectiveness of a health professional’s routine practice.
• Effective outcomes: many individuals respond extremely well to simple problem-focused ap-
proaches and guided self-help
• Effective use of resources: may reduce the need for onward referrals to ‘standard’ CBT services
• Helps to overcome ‘roadblocks’ for engagement with treatment, develop relationships and im-
prove compliance
Our unique 10 Minute CBT approach is a huge advantage for busy
organisations, where time is an extremely precious commodity.
How does 10 Minute CBT work? People have different re-
sponses to the same event. No
one reaction is right or wrong,
but some reactions will be more
positive and helpful, and others
can worsen problems by pro-
ducing a vicious cycle.
If someone feels depressed or
low, they can lose confidence in
their abilities, and may give up
or stop trying when things get
tough. But this simply worsens
mood and further reduces con-
fidence and self-esteem.
People who get very anxious
under pressure often have
more difficulty coping with
problems than those who re-
main calm and prioritise their
workload. Again, as they grow
more panicky, the problems spi-
ral even further out of control.
Some of our Feedback
“This course has really changed my practice…”
“Reduced my stress with some difficult patients”
“The presentation for using the skills within a 10
-Minute setting was excellent – simple, clear and
achievable. I really did use it the next day!”
“Very well presented – great variety of teaching
methods”
“Very practical – even how to manage time
constraints”
“Practical, interactive, informative & interesting.
I learned some new skills that I will use
tomorrow”
“Very relevant and could be immediately ap-
plied to my own work”
“Extremely useful to learn how to break down
problems into a structured framework”
As the following exam-
ple shows, individuals
can react very differ-
ently to a busy day at
work.
The same theory applies
to a wide variety of
situations, including re-
actions to physical ill-
ness and disability.
