COMMITTEE REPORTS: AD: Dave Nelson reported that the rSchools scheduler is up and running. We are still looking to fill the JH coaching position. We also changed the track coaching structure to one head and shared assistants to get more specialized in some areas. Principals: Terry Baesler reported that currently 18 seniors have qualified for the $6000 ND scholarship and that H5O9 has been visiting with the seniors to help with their scholarships. Upcoming events have the Seniors going to the We the People competition on January 15th; Grades 9-12 going to Mayville for a Career Expo /Job Fair set up by Jim Murphy on January 22nd and Grade 8 going to Grafton on Jan 22nd for NVCTC Career Exploration. The NWEA testing will be starting the end of January for grades 8-11. Jon Dryburgh reported that all staff will be attending the MLK teacher PD day at Mayville State on January 20th. Supt: Supt. Suda reported that the School Improvement Committee is updating the Mission/Vision/Goals Statement. Buildings & Grounds: none Human Resources & Finance: The two positions that are open are the Middle School Language Arts/Art and Transportation Direct/Bus Driver position. Supt. Suda will repost to spur some interest. Hillsboro Rec District: Kris Brekken reported on the previous night’s meeting. The Rec District is looking into offering other non-sport activities and made the Board aware that they may ask to use the school and some computers. He is informed the Board that a petition will be circulated in order to get a mill levy on the ballot. Transportation: Supt. Suda formally informed the Board that we received the VW Settlement Grant in the amount of 42,950 towards a new bus and we are waiting for contract. Student Services, Curriculum & Technology: Supt. Suda informed the committee to get their requests in early to be put on the budget. Extra-Curricular: None Policies: Moved by Paul Kozojed and seconded by Mary Mattson to rescind our current policy and board regulation and follow policy BDA to waive the two readings and approve FDB-Education of the Homeless Student and FDR-BR Education of the Homeless Dispute Resolution Procedure. Upon roll call vote, Diehl, P. Kozojed, Mattson, Brekken and T. Kozojed voted yes. Motion carried. The company is owned by nearly 2,650 shareholders who raise approximately one-third of the nation’s sugarbeet acreage across the Red River Valley. The company produces and sells around 15 percent of the country’s sugar. ACSC was organized in 1973 by sugarbeet growers and currently employs approximately 1,400 full-time workers and hires another 900 hourly seasonal workers. In 2019, the coop planted a little under 400,000 acres of beets and averaged around 28 tons per acre. The company is a major factor in Hillsboro’s economy. In 2018, shareholders were paid around $48 per ton and each factory distributes local contributions to a variety of community activities. In addition, the company offers 49 $1,000 scholarships to graduating Red River Valley high school seniors as well as 49 $500 scholarships to seniors going to a technical or vocational school. COMMITTEE REPORTS:AD: Dave Nelson reported that the

rSchools scheduler is up and running. We are still looking to fill the JH coaching position. We also changed the track coaching structure to one head and shared assistants to get more specialized in some areas.

Principals: Terry Baesler reported that currently 18 seniors have qualified for the $6000 ND scholarship and that H5O9 has been visiting with the seniors to help with their scholarships. Upcoming events have the Seniors going to the We the People competition on January 15th; Grades 9-12 going to Mayville for a Career Expo /Job Fair set up by Jim Murphy on January 22nd and Grade 8 going to Grafton on Jan 22nd for NVCTC Career Exploration. The NWEA testing will be starting the end of January for grades 8-11.

Jon Dryburgh reported that all staff will be attending the MLK teacher PD day at Mayville State on January 20th.

Supt: Supt. Suda reported that the School Improvement Committee is updating the Mission/Vision/Goals Statement.

Buildings & Grounds: noneHuman Resources & Finance:

The two positions that are open are the Middle School Language Arts/Art and Transportation Direct/Bus Driver position. Supt. Suda will repost to spur some interest.

Hillsboro Rec District: Kris Brekken reported on the previous night’s meeting. The Rec District is looking into offering other non-sport activities and made the Board aware that they may ask to use the school and some computers. He is informed the Board that a petition will be circulated in order to get a mill levy on the ballot.

Transportation: Supt. Suda formally informed the Board that we received the VW Settlement Grant in the amount of 42,950 towards a new bus and we are waiting for contract.

Student Services, Curriculum & Technology: Supt. Suda informed the committee to get their requests in early to be put on the budget.

American Crystal Sugar Company is a cooperative that specializes in the production of sugar and related products out of its factories in Crookston, East Grand Forks and Moorhead in Minnesota, as well as Drayton and Hillsboro in North Dakota.

The company is owned by nearly 2,650 shareholders who raise approximately one-third of the nation’s sugarbeet acreage across the Red River Valley.

The company produces and sells around 15 percent of the country’s sugar.

ACSC was organized in 1973 by sugarbeet growers and currently employs approximately 1,400 full-time workers and hires another 900 hourly seasonal workers.

In 2019, the coop planted a little under 400,000 acres of beets and averaged around 28 tons per acre.

The company is a major factor in Hillsboro’s economy.In 2018, shareholders were paid around $48 per ton and

each factory distributes local contributions to a variety of community activities.

In addition, the company offers 49 $1,000 scholarships to graduating Red River Valley high school seniors as well as 49 $500 scholarships to seniors going to a technical or vocational school.
