Drzewa, klimat i pokój
Aktywność człowieka w zatrważającym tempie zmienia środowisko naturalne i wpły-
wa na procesy globalnych zmian klimatycznych, które coraz częściej przejawiają się
rosnącą falą upałów, suszami, huraganami, ulewami i powodziami. Stoją przed nami
priorytetowe zadania, takie jak spowolnienie i ostateczne odwrócenie procesu wy-
lesienia, gdyż jest on odpowiedzialny za ok. 20% globalnych emisji gazów cieplar-
nianych – więcej niż wszystkie formy transportu, które stanowią ok. 14% globalnych
emisji. Sadzenie drzew pozostaje jednym z najbardziej opłacalnych sposobów prze-
ciwdziałania zmianom klimatycznym. Drzewa i lasy są niezbędnym elementem re-
gulacji klimatu, ponieważ pochłaniają dwutlenek węgla i zawierają, jak się ocenia,
o 50% więcej węgla niż atmosfera.
Drzewa odgrywają znaczącą rolę nie tylko w środowisku przyrodniczym ale także
kulturowym i społecznym. Zaopatrują ludność w rozmaite produkty i usługi, dostar-
czając m.in. żywności, drewna, celulozy, leków i energii oraz przyczyniając się do
ochrony żyzności ziem, zasobów wód i różnorodności biologicznej. „Sadząc drzewa,
zasiewamy ziarna pokoju i ziarna nadziei” – powiedziała laureatka Pokojowej Nagro-
dy Nobla, twórczyni Kenijskiego Pasa Zieleni, prof. Wangari Maathai. Pamiętajmy
także, że pokój na Ziemi zależy także od tego, czy będziemy w stanie zachować
środowisko naturalne dla przyszłych pokoleń. Zapraszamy do programu Święto Drzewa,

Trees, climate and peace
The rapid pace of human development has a great effect on the natural environ-
ment and global climate change, which is increasing the amount of heat waves,
droughts, hurricanes, downpours and floods. The human race is faced with major
concerns, such as; decreasing and turning back the process of deforestation, as it
is responsible for about 20 % of greenhouse gas emissions – more than the gas
emissions of all means of transportation, which are responsible for about 14% of
total emissions. Planting trees is one of the most rewarding ways of avoiding climate
change. Trees and forests are necessary elements that regulate the climate, the
reason for that is because they absorb carbon dioxide and contain 50% more car-
bon dioxide than the atmosphere.
Trees play an important role not only in nature but also in cultures. They provide
life to people in terms of supplying them with various goods and services, in par-
ticular; food, wood, cellulose, medicine and energy as well as they fertilize land,
provide water resources and biological diversity. ‘’ When planting trees, we sow
seeds of peace and hope’’ the Noble Peace prize winner and the Kenyan Green Belt
Movement creator, professor Wangari Maathai, once said. We should also remember,
that peace on earth also depends on whether we are capable of maintaining
natural environments for generations to come. We would like to welcome all to
join the Tree Day program, to work together for our planet Earth.

Los árboles, el clima, la paz
La actividad del hombre hace cambiar el medioambiente en un ritmo feroz, influ-
yendo en los procesos globales de cambios climáticos, que se manifiestan cada
vez con mayor frecuencia mediante las sequías, períodos de intenso calor, huraca-
nes, aguaceros e inundaciones. Tenemos que enfrentar la tarea prioritaria que con-
siste en frenar el rápido avance del proceso de deforestación del mundo, que es
la causa principal de la emisión, a escala global, de unos 20% de gases de efecto
invernadero. Esta cifra es mayor de lo que emiten en total todos los medios de
transporte, que alcanzan 14% de las emisiones globales. El mejor método para
resistir a los cambios climáticos consiste en plantar árboles. Los árboles y los bosques
son elementos imprescindibles de las regulaciones climáticas, ya que absorben el
bióxido de carbono y contienen, según se estima, 50% más de carbono que la
atmósfera.
Los árboles desempeñan un importante papel no sólo para el medioambiente, sino
también en la vida social y cultural. Abastecen a la gente en diferentes productos,
tanto alimenticios, como en la madera, celulosa, medicinas y energía. Gracias a los
árboles quedan protegidas las tierras de cultivo y las reservas de agua. Son ele-
mentos importantes de la diversidad biológica. “Al plantar árboles, sembramos las
semillas de paz y esperanza”, dijo la Premio Nobel, prof. Wangari Maathai, fundado-
ra de la Faja Verde de Kenia. Tenemos que recordar también que la paz en el
mundo depende, entre otros factores, de nuestra capacidad de conservar el medio-
ambiente para las futuras generaciones. Por lo tanto, queremos invitar a todos
a participar en el programa Fiesta del Arbol, que es una labor común a favor de la
Tierra.

Hin öra þróun mannsins hefur mikil áhrif á umhverfið og loftslagsbreytingar á
jörðinni sem eykur fjölda hitabylgna, þurrka, fellibylja, úrhellis og flóða. Mannkynið
stendur frammi fyrir mikilvægum vandamálum, svo sem að draga úr og snúa við
þróun skógeyðingar, þar sem hún er ábyrg fyrir u.þ.b. 20% af losun gróðurhúsaloft-
tegunda – meira en losun lofttegunda allra samgöngumáta sem bera ábyrgð á
u.þ.b. 14% af heildarútblæstri. Gróðursetning trjáplantna er ein mest gefandi leið til
að forðast loftslagsbreytingar. Tré og skógar eru nauðsynlegir þættir sem stýra lofts-
laginu, ástæða þess er sú að þau taka upp koltvísýring og innihalda 50% meiri
koltvísýring en andrúmsloftið.
Tré hafa mikilvægu hlutverki að gegna ekki einungis í náttúrunni heldur einnig í
þjóðmenningu. Þau gefa fólki líf þar sem þau veita þeim ýmsar vörur og þjónustu,
sérstaklega; mat, við, sellulósa, lyf og orku sem og bæta frjósemi landsins, veita vatn
og líffræðilega fjölbreytni. „Þegar tré eru gróðursett, sáum við fræjum friðar og von-
ar“ sagði eitt sinn Nóbelsverðlaunahafinn og stofnandi Grænabeltishreyfingar Kenýa,
prófessor Wangari Maathai. Við ættum einnig að hafa í huga að friður á jörð er
einnig undir því kominn hvort við erum fær um að viðhalda náttúrulegu umhverfi
fyrir komandi kynslóðir. Við viljum bjóða alla velkomna til að taka þátt í verkefninu
Dagur trésins, til að vinna saman fyrir jörðina okkar.

Klub Gaja jest jedną z wiodących, niezależnych organizacji społecznych zajmujących
się ochroną środowiska i prawami zwierząt w Polsce. Został założony przez Jacka
Bożka w roku 1988.
Misją Klubu Gaja jest ochrona naszej planety Ziemi oraz zachowanie środowiska
naturalnego dla nas i dla przyszłych pokoleń.
Klub Gaja już 20 lat zajmuje się ochroną środowiska naturalnego. Prowadzimy
ogólnopolskie kampanie i programy na rzecz ochrony rzek i dolin rzecznych oraz
ochrony drzew, zalesienia i zadrzewienia, w celu zmniejszenia skutków zmian
klimatu na Ziemi. Zwracamy uwagę opinii publicznej na zagrożenia i problemy
ekologiczne związane z działalnością człowieka oraz na naszą wspólną odpowie-
dzialność za stan środowiska. Celem działań Klubu Gaja jest także podniesienie
świadomości społecznej w zakresie ochrony zwierząt poprzez zwracanie uwagi
opinii publicznej na to, że ochrona praw i dobrostanu zwierząt jest integralną
częścią ochrony środowiska i bezpośrednio wpływa na jakość naszego życia.
Zajmujemy się także edukacją. Inspirujemy do działań na rzecz Ziemi dzieci, mło-
dzież, nauczycieli, społeczności lokalne, samorządy i firmy. Uczestnicy naszych pro-
gramów sadzą drzewa, zakładają ogrody, adoptują rzeki i strumienie, zbierają ma-
kulaturę i pomagają zwierzętom. W swojej działalności edukacyjnej, warsztatach,
wydarzeniach, wykorzystujemy niekonwencjonalne metody i różne formy sztuki.
About Klub Gaja
Klub Gaja is one of the leading independent social organizations that deals with
environmental protection and animal rights in Poland. It was created by Jacek Bożek
in 1988.
Klub Gaja’s mission is to protect our planet Earth as well as preserve the natural
behavior of our environment for us and generations to come.
For already 20 years, Klub Gaja deals with the protection of natural environments.
We lead nationwide campaigns and programs with aims to protect rivers, river
valleys, trees, forestation and forest density to minimize the outcome of climate
change on Earth. We remind the public about threats resulting from human activ-
ity as well as our responsibility for the condition of the environment. The aim of
Klub Gaja is also to increase social awareness of animal protection by convincing
the public that animal rights and the welfare of animals are an integral part of
preserving natural environments and directly effects our quality of life.
We Also deal with education. We inspire children, teenagers, teachers, companies,
local societies and governments to act in aid of Earth. Participants of our programs
plant trees, adopt rivers and streams, pick up waste and help animals. In our edu-
cational activities, events and workshops, we use non-conventional methods and
various forms of art.

Klub Gaja es una de principales organizaciones sociales independientes que se
ocupan de la protección del medioambiente y de los derechos de animales en
Polonia. Fue fundada por Jacek Bożek en el año 1988.
Klub Gaja considera que su misión consiste en proteger nuestro planeta y man-
tener el medioambiente tanto para nosotros como para las futuras generaciones.
Klub Gaja desarrolla sus actividades con el fin de proteger el medioambiente ya
desde hace 20 años. Nuestras campañas de protección de la naturaleza alcanzan el
nivel nacional en Polonia, como también los programas de proteción de los ríos y
sus cauces, de los árboles y de plantación de bosques, con el objetivo de disminuir
los efectos del cambio climático en la Tierra. Tratamos de llamar la atención de la
opinión pública indicando los peligros y problemas ecológicos relacionados con las
actividades del hombre, así como resaltando la responsabilidad común de la huma-
nidad por el estado del medioambiente. Klub Gaja considera también como su ob-
jetivo aumentar la conciencia de la sociedad en el ámbito de la protección de
animales, tratando de demostrar a la opinion pública que la observación de los
derechos de los animales y la protección de su bienestar es parte integral de la pro-
tección del medioambiente e influye directamente en la calidad de nuestra vida.
Entre las ocupaciones de Klub Gaja está también la educación. Tratamos de inspirar
a los niños, jóvenes, maestros de escuelas, a las comunidades locales, organismos de
autogestión locales y diferentes empresas a que tomen parte en las acciones a favor
de la Tierra. Los participantes de nuestros programas plantan árboles, crean jardines,
adoptan ríos y arroyos, recolectan papeles viejos para su reciclaje y prestan ayuda a
los animales. En nuestras actividades de instrucción, talleres y eventos aprovechamos
diferentes métodos no convencionales, así como varias formas del arte.

fisvernd og réttindum dýra í Póllandi. Það var stofnað af Jacek Bożek árið 1988.
Hlutverk Klub Gaja er að vernda jörðina okkar auk þess að varðveita náttúrulega
hegðun umhverfis okkar, bæði fyrir okkur og komandi kynslóðir.
Í nær 20 ár hefur Klub Gaja sinnt verndun náttúrulegs umhverfis. Við leiðum
herferðir og verkefni um land allt sem stefna að verndun áa, árdala, trjáa, skógrækt
og þéttleika skóga til að draga úr áhrifum loftslagsbreytinga á jörðina. Við minnum
almenning á þær hættur sem starfsemi mannsins veldur auk ábyrgðar okkar á
ástandi umhverfisins. Markmið Klub Gaja er einnig að auka félagsvitund almennings
um verndun dýra með því að sannfæra almenning um að réttindi dýra og velferð
þeirra séu óaðskiljanlegur þáttur þess að vernda náttúrlegt umhverfi og að það hafi
bein áhrif á lífsgæði okkar.
Við sinnum einnig fræðslu. Við hvetjum börn, unglinga, kennara, fyrirtæki, stað-
bundin samtök og ríkisstjórnir til að vinna í þágu jarðarinnar. Þátttakendur í verkefnum
okkar gróðursetja tré, ættleiða ár og læki, týna úrgang og hjálpa dýrum. Í fræðslustarfi
okkar, viðburðum og námskeiðum notum við óhefðbundnar aðferðir og ýmis listform.
Si permitimos que la sociedad de consumo tenga la posibilidad de elegir, siempre elegirá el provecho, antes que la protección del medioambiente. Sólo de nosotros depende si lograremos equilibrar esa actitud con respecto al mundo. Nuestras posibili-dades de llevar una vida de buena calidad en la Tierra dependen de nuestra capacidad de respetar la natraleza y sus derechos y de actuar conscien-temente.
Es importante que nos demos cuenta cuánto de-pende de nuestras decisiones. Por lo tanto, quiero invitarles a participar en el programa ´Fiesta del Arbol´. Cada uno de nosotros puede plantar un árbol para la Tierra.

Uważam, iż projekt Święto Drzewa doskonale wpisuje się w działania edukacji dla zrównowa-żonego rozwoju. Angażuje społeczności lokalne, w szczególności dzieci i młodzież oraz kształtuje odpowiedzialność w zakresie racjonalnego korzy-stania z zasobów naturalnych, w celu zachowania ich dla przyszłych pokoleń. Jestem przekonany, że projekt ten przyczyni się do zwiększenia świado-mości w zakresie ochrony przyrody, różnorodności biologicznej i klimatu, a także wpłynie na kształ-towanie postaw proekologicznych. Dlatego też z przyjemnością przyjmuję honorowy patronat nad tym przedsięwzięciem.

I believe that the Tree Day project is ideal in terms of educating people in balanced development. It engages local societies in particular kids and teen-agers and also it raises the awareness of respon-sibility in terms of rational use of natural resourc-es, with the aim to conserve them for future generations. I am convinced, that this project will create greater awareness and understanding of the importance of environmental protection, bio-logical diversity and the climate, as well as have a positive eff ect on the development of pro-eco-logical attitudes. Therefore, I accept with pleasure the honorable patronage over this enterprise.
I would like to wish all the organizers and par-ticipants of this program great success and satis-faction in their work.
O programie Święto Drzewa
Święto Drzewa jest programem edukacji ekologicznej Klubu Gaja realizowanym od
2003 roku, którego inauguracją jest ogólnopolska i międzynarodowa akcja sadzenia
drzew co roku 10 października. Nasze przesłanie Zasadźmy drzewo dla pokoju do-
ciera do 35 krajów na świecie.
Celem programu jest edukacja dla rozwoju zrównoważonego i podnoszenie świa-
domości ekologicznej społeczeństwa w zakresie ochrony środowiska i zmian klima-
tu na Ziemi. Wspólne sadzenie drzew w ramach programu, przyczynia się do zwięk-
szenia zalesienia i zadrzewienia oraz do zmniejszenia skutków zmian klimatycznych
na Ziemi.
Święto Drzewa jest przykładem edukacji aktywnej, skierowanej na partycypację,
zmierzającej do rozwijania społeczeństwa odpowiedzialnego i akceptującego zasa-
dy zrównoważonego rozwoju, umiejącego współpracować na rzecz środowiska.
Program opiera się na lokalnej aktywności, w szczególności dzieci i młodzieży, przy
szerokim udziale społecznym m.in. lokalnych społeczności, samorządów, admini-
stracji publicznej, organizacji społecznych i biznesu.
W V edycji Święta Drzewa w 2007 roku przy szerokim udziale społecznym posa-
dziliśmy 36 262 drzewa! Zebraliśmy 220 ton makulatury! W programie
uczestniczyło 57 309 osób!
About the Tree Day Program
Tree Day is an educational program of Klub Gaja formed in 2003, where on the 10th
of October people around the world plant trees. Our statement Lets plant a tree for
peace reaches 35 countries worldwide.
The aim of the program is educational and to raise awareness of ecological matters
in terms of environmental protection and climate change on earth. Mutual tree
planting within the program causes an increase in forest growth and forest den-
sity, which decreases the negative effects of climate change on Earth.
Tree Day is an example of an educational activity, directed at participation, aimed
at developing a society which is responsible, accepts sustained development, co-
operates and respects the environment.
The program is based on local activity, especially among children and teenagers,
with a wide social range from local communities and governments to social or-
ganizations and businesses.
In the V edition of Tree Day in 2007 involving wide public participation we plant-
ed 36,262 trees! We gathered 220 tons of waste! And 57,309 people partici-
pated!
El programa Fiesta del Arbol
La Fiesta del Arbol es un programa de educación ecológica realizado por el Klub Gaja
desde el año 2003. Se inaugura cada año el día 10 de Octubre, cuando se lleva a cabo
la acción de plantar árboles, tanto en toda Polonia, como también en otros países.
Nuestro mensaje: Plantemos un árbol para la paz llega a 35 países del mundo.
El programa tiene por objetivo educar a la gente de acuerdo con los principios del
desarrollo sostenible y mejorar la conciencia ecológica de la sociedad en la materia de
la protección del medioambiente y de los cambios climáticos en nuestro planeta.
La Fiesta del Arbol es un ejemplo de la educación activa, enfocada en la participación
de mucha gente, que ayuda a formar una sociedad responsable que acepta las
reglas del desarrollo sostenible del mundo y es capaz de colaborar a favor del
medioambiente.
El programa se basa en las actividades locales, especialmente las de los niños y jóvenes,
con una amplia participación social, de las comunidades locales, organismos de auto-
gestión local y de administración pública, organizaciones sociales y empresas.
Durante la V edición de la Fiesta del Arbol 2007, contando con una amplia partici-
pación de la gente, logramos plantar 36 262 árboles! Logramos recolectar
220 toneladas de papel viejo para el reciclaje! 57 309 personas participaron
en el programa!
Um verkefnið Dagur trésins
Dagur trésins er fræðsluverkefni Klub Gaja sem stofnað var árið 2003, þar sem fólk
um allan heim gróðursetur tré 10. október ár hvert. Skilaboð okkar: Gróðursetjum
tré fyrir frið nær til um 35 landa um allan heim.
Markmið verkefnisins er fræðslutengt og til að auka vitund um vistfræðileg málefni
hvað varðar umhverfisvernd og loftslagsbreytingar á jörðinni. Sameiginleg
gróðursetning trjáa innan verkefnisins veldur auknum vexti og þéttleika skóga, sem
svo dregur úr neikvæðum áhrifum loftslagsbreytinga á jörðina.
Dagur trésins er dæmi um fræðslustarf, miðað að þátttöku, sem stefnir að þróun
samfélags sem er ábyrgt, samþykkir sjálfbæra þróun, vinnur með og virðir umhverfið.
Verkefnið byggir á staðbundnum verkefnum, sérstaklega meðal barna og unglinga,
með breitt félagslegt svið frá staðbundnum samfélögum og ríkisstjórnum til fél-
agasamtaka og fyrirtækja.
Í V. útgáfu á Degi trésins árið 2007 þar sem mikill fjöldi almennings tók þátt, gróðurset-
tum við 36.262 tré! Við tíndum 220 tonn af úrgangi! Og 57.309 manns tóku
þátt!

Comprome-te a las comunidades locales, especialmente a los jóvenes y niños, ayuda a formar la responsabilidad por la explotación racional de las riquezas natu-rale para poder guardarlas para las generaciones futuras. Ég tel að verkefni Dags trésins sé til fyrirmyndar hvað varðar að fræða fólk um stöðuga þróun. Það virkjar staðbundin samtök og þá sérstaklega börn og unglinga og eykur einnig vitund um ábyrgð hvað varðar skynsamlega notkun náttúruauðlinda, með það að markmiði að varðveita þær fyrir kom-andi kynslóðir. Ég er sannfærður um að þetta verkefni mun skapa meiri vitund og skilning á mikilvægi umhverfi sverndar, líff ræðilegrar fj öl-breytni og loftslags, jafnt og hafa jákvæð áhrif á þróun vistvænna viðhorfa. Þar af leiðandi sam-þykki ég með ánægju virðingarverðan stuðning við þetta framtak.
Ég óska öllum skipuleggjendum og þátttakendum þessarar dagskrár mikils árangurs og ánægju í starfi þeirra.
Kampania Miliarda Drzew
Od 2007 r. program Święto Drzewa bierze udział w Kampanii Miliarda Drzew dla
Planety prowadzonej przez Program Narodów Zjednoczonych do spraw Ochrony
Środowiska (UNEP) – ogólnoświatowej inicjatywy sadzenia drzew, aby sprostać wy-
zwaniom, jakie niosą zmiany klimatyczne. Do chwili obecnej inicjatywa, realizowana
pod patronatem laureatki Pokojowej Nagrody Nobla, twórczyni Kenijskiego Pasa
Zieleni, prof. Wangari Maathai oraz Jego Wysokości Księcia Monako Alberta II, osią-
gnęła z naddatkiem wszystkie cele – 2 miliardy drzew i zainicjowała sadzenie drzew
w 155 krajach.
Kolejnym wyzwaniem Kampanii Miliarda Drzew na lata 2008 i 2009 jest
posadzenie 7 miliardów drzew!
„Teraz, gdy przekroczyliśmy wszystkie wytyczone cele kampanii, wzywamy pojedyn-
cze osoby, społeczności, podmioty gospodarcze, organizacje społeczeństwa oby-
watelskiego i rządy do podniesienia tej inicjatywy na jeszcze wyższy poziom przed
decydującą konferencją w sprawie zmian klimatycznych, która odbędzie się w Ko-
penhadze pod koniec 2009 r.” – powiedział Achim Stainer.
Billion Tree Campaign
Since 2007 the Tree Day program takes part in the Billion Tree Campaign for the
Planet run by the United Nations Environmental Protection program (UNEP) – an
international initiative to plant trees to face up to the challenges brought out by
climate change. Up to today the initiative, realized by the Noble Peace Prize winner,
creator of the Kenyan Green Belt Movement, prof. Wangari Maathai as well as his
Majesty the Prince of Monaco Albert II. Prof. Wangari Maathai, achieved all their
objectives – 2 billion trees planted and the initiation of tree planting in 155 coun-
tries.
The next challenge of the Billion Tree Campaign for the years 2008 and
2009 is planting 7 Billion Trees!
‘’Now that we have achieved all our campaign goals, we are calling for individuals,
societies, households, social citizen organizations, and governments to raise this
initiative to an even higher level before the deciding conference that deals with
climate change, that will take place in Copenhagen towards the end of year 2009’’

La campaña de Mil Millones de Arboles
A partir del año 2007, el programa Fiesta del Arbol es parte de la Campaña de Mil
Millones de Arboles para el Planeta, llevada por el Programa de Naciones Unidas
para los asuntos de la Protección del Medioambiente (UNEP) – que es una inicia-
tiva mundial de plantar árboles con el objetivo de responder a los desafíos que
traen los cambios climáticos. Hasta la actualidad, dicha iniciativa, realizada bajo el
patrocinio de la Premio Nobel, fundadora de la Faja Verde de Kenia, profesora Wan-
gari Maathai y Su Excelencia Príncipe de Mónaco, Alberto II, logró e incluso superó
todos sus objetivos – la plantación de 2 mil millones de árboles y la acción, inicia-
da en 155 países, de poblar terrenos con árboles.
El nuevo desafío que se plantean los autores de la Campaña de Mil Millones
de Arboles para los años 2008 y 2009 consiste en plantar 7 mil millones de
árboles!
“Ahora, cuando hemos superado todos los objetivos fijados para esta campaña, nos
dirigimos a personas individuales, comunidades, sujetos económicos, organismos
de la sociedad cívica y gobiernos solicitando que esa iniciativa sea continuada en

Frá árinu 2007 hefur verkefnið Dagur trésins tekið þátt í Milljarður trjáa herferðinni
fyrir jörðina sem Umhverfisstofnun Sameinuðu þjóðanna (UNEP) stendur fyrir –
alþjóðlegt frumkvæði til að gróðursetja tré til að mæta þeim áskorunum sem við
stöndum frammi fyrir sökum loftslags breytinga. Allt til dagsins í dag hefur frum-
kvæðið, framkvæmt af Nóbelsverðlaunahafanum og stofnanda Grænabeltishreyfin-
garinnar í Kenýa, prófessor Wangari Maathai sem og hans hátign prinsinum af Mónakó,
Albert II., hefur prófessor Wangari Maathai náð öllum markmiðum sínum – tveir
milljarðar trjáplantna hafa verið gróðursettar og frumkvæði haft að gróðursetningu
trjáplantna í 155 löndum.
Næsta takmark Milljarður trjáa herferðarinnar fyrir árin 2008 og 2009 er
að gróðursetja 7 milljarða trjáa!
„Nú þegar við höfum náð öllum takmörkum herferðar okkar, leitum við til einstak-
linga, fyrirtækja, heimila, félagslegra samtaka borgara og ríkisstjórna til að koma þessu
frumkvæði á enn hærra stig fyrir hina áhrifamiklu ráðstefnu um loftslagsbreytingar,

Co roku nasze przesłanie Zasadźmy drzewo dla pokoju dociera do 35 krajów na
świecie. Każdy z nas może posadzić drzewo w intencji pokoju. Drzewa dla pokoju
sadzono m.in.: w Polsce, Czechach, Włoszech, Kolumbii, Pakistanie, Peru, Wenezueli,
Ekwadorze, Argentynie, na Węgrzech i Litwie, w Holandii, Japonii, Wielkiej Brytanii,
Danii, Niemczech, Irlandii i Indiach. Na nasz apel odpowiedzieli członkowie Fundacji
Ashoka, a także organizacje ekologiczne i organizacje pracujące na rzecz praw czło-
wieka. W wielu miejscach na świecie Święto Drzewa to nie tylko akcje sadzenia drzew
w intencji pokoju, ale także różnorodne projekty na rzecz ochrony środowiska natu-
ralnego, współpracy i tolerancji, dla zrównoważonego rozwoju.
Program Święto Drzewa integruje wymiar:
• środowiskowy – obejmuje działania edukacyjne i informacyjne dotyczące
sadzenia i ochrony drzew, zajmuje się edukacją ekologiczną rozumianą jako
harmonijne działanie człowieka korzystającego z zasobów środowiska natu-
ralnego w sposób gwarantujący zachowanie tych zasobów dla przyszłych
pokoleń,
• ekonomiczny – przyczynia się do zadrzewienia i zalesienia, które zmniejsza ne-
gatywne skutki zmian klimatu, wpływa także na obniżenie kosztów mikro- i ma-
kroekonomicznych oraz na obniżenie długu pokoleniowego – czyli ponoszenia
kosztów przez przyszłe pokolenia,
• społeczny – opiera się na współpracy międzynarodowej i wielostronnej w zakre-
sie budowania poparcia społecznego dla ochrony środowiska przy szerokim
udziale społecznym.
Trees for Peace
Each year our Statement Lets plant a tree for peace reaches 35 countries world-
wide. Everyone of us can plant a tree with intentions of peace. Trees planted for
peace particularly in; Poland, the Czech Republic, Italy, Columbia, Pakistan, Peru,
Venezuela, Ecuador, Argentina, Hungary, Latvia, Holland, Japan, Great Britain, Den-
mark, Germany, Ireland, and India. Our appeal was answered by members of the
Ashoka Foundation, and also ecological organizations and other organizations work-
ing on the subject of human rights. In many areas throughout the world Tree Day
is not only an action aimed at planting trees with intentions of peace, but also
various projects with goals to protect the natural environment, cooperation and
tolerance for sustained development.
Tree Day’s program integrates the following dimensions:
• environmental – involves educational and informational works having to do
with the planting and protection of trees and ecological education understood as
harmonious human activities involving natural resources in a way that guarantees
the existence of these resources for future generations,
• economical – aims at planting trees aznd forests, which decreases the negative
outcome of climate change, it has an effect on lowering micro and macroeco-
nomic costs as well as lowers future generation indebtedness – therefore bears the
costs of future generations,
• social – based on international and multilateral cooperation in the range of build-
ing social support for environmental protection through wide social engagement.

Cada año nuestro mensaje Plantemos un árbol para la paz llega a 35 países del
mundo. Cada uno de nosotros puede plantar un árbol con la intención para la paz
en el mundo. Los árboles para la paz fueron plantados en: Polonia, República Che-
ca, Italia, Colombia, Pakistán, Perú, Venezuela, Ecuador, Argentina, Hungría y Lituania,
en Holanda, Japón, Gran Bretaña, Dinamarca, Alemania, Irlanda, India y en otros
países. A nuestro llamamiento contestaron los miembros de la Fundación Ashoka y
las organizaciones ecológicas y de derechos humanos. En diferentes lugares del mun-
do, la Fiesta del Arbol, no consiste sólo en la plantación de árboles con la intención
para la paz, sino también en numerosas actividades y proyectos a favor de la protec-
ción del medioambiente, de cooperación y tolerancia y del desarrollo sostenible.
El Programa Fiesta del Arbol integra diferentes aspectos:
• el medioambiental – que abarca las actividades educacionales e informativas re-
ferentes a la plantación y protección de árboles, la educación ecológica entendida
como las acciones equilibradas del hombre que explota las riquezas del medioam-
biente en la manera que garantiza su conservación para las futuras generaciones,
• el económico – ya que contribuye a la población de árboles y bosques, lo que
disminuye los efectos negativos del cambio climático y además influye en la reducción
de costes micro- y macroeconómicos, así como en la reducción de la deuda genera-
cional – o sea de los costes que tendrán que asumir las generaciones futuras,
• el social – ya que se basa en la cooperación internacional y multilateral en la
formación del apoyo social para la protección del medioambiente con una amplia
participación social.

Á hverju áru ná skilaboðin okkar Gróðursetjum tré fyrir frið til 35 landa um
allan heim. Hvert okkar getur gróðursett tré með frið að markmiði. Tré gróðursett
fyrir frið sérstaklega í; Póllandi, Tékklandi, Ítalíu, Kólumbíu, Pakistan, Perú, Venesúela,
mörku, Þýskalandi, Írlandi og Indlandi. Ákalli okkar var svarað af meðlimum Ashoka
stofnunarinnar, og einnig af vistfræðilegum samtökum og öðrum mannréttindasam-
tökum. Á mörgum sviðum um allan heim er Dagur trésins ekki einungis aðgerð sem
stefnir að gróðursetningu trjáa með frið að markmiði, heldur einnig ýmis verkefni
með það að markmiði að vernda náttúrulegt umhverfi, samvinnu og umburðar-
lyndi fyrir sjálfbærri þróun.
Verkefnið Dagur trésins nær yfir eftirfarandi þætti:
• umhverfi – felur í sér fræðslu- og upplýsingaverkefni sem snerta gróðursetningu
og vernd trjáa og vistfræðilega fræðslu sem skilin er sem samstilltar mannlegar
aðgerðir sem tengjast náttúruauðlindum á hátt sem tryggir tilvist þessara auðlinda
fyrir komandi kynslóðir,
• fjárhagur – stefnir að gróðursetningu trjáa og skóga, sem dregur úr neikvæðri
útkomu vegna loftslagsbreytinga, hefur áhrif á lækkun rekstrarhagfræðilegs- og
þjóðhagslegs kostnaðar jafnt og það dregur úr skuldum komandi kynslóða- og ber
þar af leiðandi straum af kostnaði fyrir komandi kynslóðir,
• félagslegur – byggður á alþjóðlegri og marghliða samvinnu á sviði uppbyggingar
félagslegs stuðnings fyrir umhverfisvernd með yfirgripsmikilli félagslegri skuldbindingu.

Fundacja Ashoka została partnerem Święta Drzewa w 2005 roku propagując sadze-
nie drzew w intencji pokoju na świecie. Ashoka jest międzynarodową organizacją,
która wyszukuje i zrzesza wyjątkowych ludzi – osobowości, wprowadzające inno-
wacyjne, systemowe rozwiązania problemów społecznych. Misją Ashoki jest budo-
wanie społeczeństwa obywatelskiego, w którym każdy ma możliwości i otrzymuje
wsparcie przy wprowadzaniu zmiany społecznej. Ashoka czyni to poprzez inwesto-
wanie w wybitne osobowości – przedsiębiorców społecznych (ang. social entrepre-

The Ashoka foundation became partners with Tree Day in 2005 by propagating
planting trees for peace on earth. Ashoka is a multinational organization, which
seeks and unites exceptional people – personalities, that introduce innovative and
system breakthroughs in social imperfections. Ashokas mission is to build social
citizens, in which all citizens have the ability to change society’s for the better and
receive support from others while doing so. Ashoka renders this through investing
in distinguished personalities – social entrepreneurs. Who combine vision with pas-
sion for helping others with a professional approach to work, typical of business-
oriented people. Since 1995, Ashoka invested in 62 social enterprises and in over
2000 people from 70 countries worldwide.

Ashokowcy z Kolumbii, w miejscowości Medellin posadzili 500 drzew w intencji pokoju. Wydarzeniu towarzyszyły warsztaty poświęcone tożsamości narodowej, wielokulturowości i segregacji rasowej, w których wzięło udział ponad 1200 młodych lu-dzi – Święto Drzewa 2005 r.

La Fundación Ashoka empezó la cooperación con Klub Gaja en el programa Fiesta
del Arbol en el año 2005, haciendo propaganda a la idea de plantar árboles para la
paz en el mundo. Ashoka es una organización internacional que busca y agrupa
personas excepcionales – personalidades, que introducen soluciones innovadoras
y sistémicas de diferentes problemas sociales. La misión de Ashoka consiste en
construir la sociedad cívica, en la que todos tienen posibilidad de introducir cambios
sociales y pueden recibir apoyo en tales actividades. Ashoka realiza sus objetivos
apoyando a los personajes destacados – empresarios sociales (en inglés: social en-
trepreneur), quienes representan la actitud visionaria y la pasión de ayudar a los
demás, tanto como un enfoque profesional del trabajo, característico para el mun-
do de los negocios. Desde el año 1995 Ashoka ha invertido en Polonia en 62

Udział Lasów Państwowych
Od I edycji w 2003 r. partnerem strategicznym programu Święto Drzewa są Lasy
Państwowe – 428 Nadleśnictw w kraju. Lasy Państwowe to organizacja od ponad
80 lat chroniąca, użytkująca i kształtująca polskie lasy, które są majątkiem narodowym.
Zachowanie trwałości lasów oraz ciągłość i zrównoważone wykorzystanie wszystkich
pełnionych przez nie funkcji to podstawowe zadanie Lasów Państwowych. Ekologia
i funkcje środowiskowe lasów stały się podstawą nowoczesnej gospodarki leśnej,
gospodarki wielofunkcyjnej prowadzącej do utrzymania i powiększania zasobów
leśnych i przyrodniczych z myślą o przyszłych pokoleniach.
Ze względu na szeroko rozumianą edukację ekologiczną społeczeństwa, co roku
Lasy Państwowe inspirują nadleśnictwa do nieodpłatnego przekazania sadzonek
zgłaszającym się uczestnikom programu Święto Drzewa. Nadleśnictwa podejmują
współpracę z placówkami oświatowymi i często koordynują lokalne działania na
swoim terenie. Co roku, także Lasy Państwowe służą pomocą swoich specjalistów
– leśników, w zakresie edukacji ekologicznej.
Participation of State Forest’s
Since the first edition in 2003 the strategic partner of the Tree Day program is the
State Forest – a total of 428 forest inspectorates in the country. The State Forest is
an organization, which goes back over 80 years in protecting and developing Polish
forests, which are state property. Preserving forest’s and is the primary aim of the
State Forest. Ecology and environmental functions have become the new basis of
forest administration, a multifunctional administration created to preserve and en-
large forest resources, with thought of future generations.
Due to widely acknowledged social environmental education, each year State For-
est’s inspires forest inspectorates to the gratuitous delivery of seedlings to the par-
ticipants of the Tree Day program. Forest inspectorates commit to mutual work with
educational offices that often co-ordinate local workings on their own terrain. Each
year, State Forest’s also serve to help their specialists – forest rangers, in the field
of ecological education.

Participación de los Bosques Estatales en Polonia
A partir de la I edición del programa en el año 2003, la institución Bosques Estata-
les es socio estratégico de Fiesta del Arbol en Polonia – en el evento participan 428
jefaturas de distritos forestales del país. Los Bosques Estatales es una organización
que desde hace 80 años protege, explota y forma los bosques polacos que perte-
necen al patrimonio nacional. La tarea principal de Bosques Estatales consiste en
mantener la existencia de los bosques, tanto como la continuidad y la explotación
equilibrada de todas las funciones que los bosques desempeñan. La ecología y las
funciones medioambientales de los bosques llegaron a ser la base de una econo-
mía forestal moderna, multifunctional, orientada a mantener y aumentar las reser-
vas forestales y naturales para las futuras generaciones.
Teniendo en cuenta la educación ecológica de la sociedad, cada año Bosques Es-
tatales tratan de inspirar a las jefaturas de distritos forestales a que ofrezcan, sin
costo, plantones de árboles a los participantes del programa Fiesta del Arbol. Las
mencionadas jefaturas establecen la cooperación con las escuelas y otras institu-
ciones educacionales y, a menudo, coordinan las actividades locales en su distrito.
Asimismo, los especialistas – silvicultores de Bosques Estatales prestan su ayuda en
materia de la educación ecológica.
Þátttaka ríkisskóga
Frá fyrstu útgáfunni árið 2003 eru ríkisskógar mikilvægur samstarfsaðili verkefnisins
Dagur trésins – samtals 428 skógarumdæmi í landinu. Ríkisskógar eru samtök, sem
ná aftur um 80 ár og vernda og þróa pólska skóga, sem eru ríkiseignir. Varðveisla
skóga er helsta markmið ríkisskóga. Vistfræði og umhverfis hlutverk mynda orðið
nýjan grunn skógarstjórnar, fjölþátta stjórnkerfi sem stofnað var til að vernda og
stækka skógarauðlindir, með komandi kynslóðir í huga.
Sökum viðurkenndar félagslegrar fræðslu um umhverfið, hvetja ríkisskógarnir skóg-
arumdæmi ár hvert til að gefa fræ til þátttakenda verkefnisins Dagur trésins. Skóg-
arumdæmi skuldbinda sig samvinnu við fræðsluskrifstofur sem samræma oft
staðbundna starfsemi á eigin landsvæði. Á hverju ári sjá ríkisskógarnir einnig um að
aðstoða sérfræðinga sína – skógarverði, á sviði vistfræðilegrar fræðslu.

Działania i udział społeczny
Święto Drzewa obejmuje m.in. takie działania jak: sadzenie lasu, zakładanie parków,
ogrodów przyszkolnych, sadzenie drzew w intencji pokoju, odszukiwanie starych
drzew i świadków historii, zbieranie nasion, zbiórkę makulatury, warsztaty, lekcje
tematyczne i zajęcia w terenie. Program Święto Drzewa rozwija także kreatywność
i pomysłowość uczestników poprzez przygotowanie spektakli, konkursów plastycz-
nych, fotograficznych i literackich, w ten sposób uczestnicy uczą się połączeń
i zależności pomiędzy środowiskiem przyrodniczym, społecznym, kulturowym.
Działania w ramach Święta Drzewa realizowane są przy szerokim udziale społecznym.
Włączenie się lokalnych społeczności w obchody Święta Drzewa organizowane przez
placówki oświatowe, samorządy, instytucje, firmy umożliwiło społecznościom lokalnym
i różnym grupom społecznym zainteresowanym ochroną środowiska wprowadzenie
Święta Drzewa do kalendarza corocznych działań na rzecz ochrony środowiska.
Works and Social Participation
Tree Day is involved in: planting forest’s, forming parks and gardens, planting trees
with the purpose of creating peace, locating old trees and trees that have been
through historical events, the picking of seeds, picking waste, conducting workshops,
thematic lessons and outdoor activities. The Tree Day program develops a creative
and ingenious way of thinking in participants through the course of preparing
presentations and art, photography and literature contests. In this way participants
learn about the importance and links between the natural environment, society
and culture.
Works within Tree Day are shaped through wide social participation. Involvement
of local society’s in Tree Day are organized through schools, institutions, and busi-
nesses, which make it capable for local society’s and various social groups inter-
ested in environmental protection, to get involved in the annual environmental
works.
Actividades y participación social
La Fiesta del Arbol abarca actualmente tales actividades como: plantación de bosques,
creación de parques y jardines, plantación de árboles con la intención para la paz,
búsqueda de árboles viejos y árboles-testigos de la historia, recolección de semillas,
recolección de maculatura, talleres, clases temáticas y clases en el terreno. El pro-
grama de la Fiesta del Arbol permite también desarrollar la creatividad e ingeniosidad
de sus participantes, mediante la preparación de espectáculos, concursos plásticos,
fotográficos y literarios; de la misma manera los participantes aprenden que existen
vínculos y dependencia mútuas entre el medioambiente y el ambiente social
y cultural.
Las diversas actividades de la Fiesta del Arbol se realizan con amplia participación
social. Como en las celebraciones de la Fiesta del Arbol, organizadas por las institu-
ciones educacionales, de autogestión local y empresas participan las comunidades
locales y diferentes grupos sociales interesados en la protección del medioambien-
te, esos grupos pudieron introducir la Fiesta del Arbol en su agenda anual de acti-
vidades a favor del medioambiente.
Starfsemi og félagsleg þátttaka
Dagur trésins tekur þátt í: gróðursetningu skóga, stofnun almenningsgarða og garða,
gróðursetningu trjáplantna með það að markmiði að skapa frið, staðsetningu gam-
alla trjáa og trjáa sem hafa gengið í gegnum sögulega atburði, að týna fræ, að týna
úrgang, umsjón námskeiða, þematengdu námsefni og starfsemi utandyra. Verkefnið
Dagur trésins þróar skapandi og nýstárlega leið til hugsunar hjá þátttakendum við
undirbúning kynninga og listar, ljósmynda- og bókmenntasamkeppna. Á þennan
hátt fræðast þátttakendur um mikilvæg tengsli á milli náttúrulegs umhverfis, sam-
félags og þjóðmenningar.
Verkefni innan Dags trésins eru mótuð með breiðri félagslegri þátttöku. Þátttaka
staðbundinna samfélaga í Degi trésins er skipulögð í gegnum skóla, stofnanir og
fyrirtæki, sem gera staðbundnum samfélögum og mismunandi félagslegum hópum
mögulegt að sýna áhuga á umhverfisvernd, til að taka þátt í árlegu umhverfis-
starfi.

Program Święto Drzewa rozwija współpracę międzynarodową i wielostronną. Partnerem
Klubu Gaja w realizacji projektu Święto Drzewa w latach 2008–2010 realizowanym przy
wsparciu Islandii, Liechtensteinu i Norwegii jest islandzka organizacja społeczna
Spkógræktarfélag Grindavíkur, która zajmuje się sadzeniem i ochroną drzew
w Grindavik, położonym na południowym wschodzie wyspy. Przykładem dobrych
praktyk jest nasza współpraca z samorządami. Powiatowe Centrum Edukacji Eko-
logicznej przy Starostwie Powiatowym w Limanowej w 2007 r. posadziło 768
drzew. W sadzeniu drzew uczestniczyły nie tylko dzieci i młodzież ale także urzędnicy
i samorządowcy. Urząd Miasta Koszalin w V edycji programu zaangażował najwięk-
szą ilość uczestników – 3800 osób, w tym Zakład Karny i Centrum Szkolenia Sił Po-
wietrznych.
Współpracujemy także z firmami, które wprowadzają nowe strategie i rozwiązania
ekologiczne, angażując się w działania społeczne związane z ochroną klimatu. Dzia-
to Drzewa, przyczyniają się do zwiększenia zalesienia określonych terenów i do
podnoszenia świadomości społecznej w zakresie roli odnowień i zalesień w absorp-
cji CO2. Współpraca w ramach Święta Drzewa pomiędzy podmiotami z różnych
sektorów buduje kapitał zaufania oraz przyczynia się do propagowania idei zrów-
noważonego rozwoju opartego na korzystaniu z zasobów środowiska naturalnego
w sposób odpowiedzialny i gwarantujący zachowanie tych zasobów dla przyszłych
pokoleń.
Good Practice
The Tree Day program develops mutual international work. Klub Gaja in the realiza-
tion of the Tree Day program in the years 2008–2010 with cooperation from Iceland,
Lichtenstein and Norway is a public organization from Iceland called Spkógraek-
tarflelag Grinavikur, which deals with the protection and planting of trees in
Grindavik, located in the southeast part of the island. An example of good practice
is our mutual work the local governments. The District of Central Ecological
Education in Limanowo in the year of 2007 planted 768 trees. In the tree plant-
ing process not only children and teenagers were involved but also government
officials. The City Hall of Koszalin in the fifth edition of the program had the
largest number of participants – 3800 partakers, including criminal institution and
the Centre of Air Force Training.
We also co-work with companies, which introduce new strategies, ecological solu-
tions and engage in social works that have to do with the protection of climate
change. The works of LeasePlan, Troton, Eco Service, Comarch – partners of
the Tree Day program, contribute to the goals of increasing forestation in specific
areas and raising social awareness of the threats of deforestation on the climate.
Mutual work within Tree Day and subjects of various areas build trust funds and
contribute to spreading ideas of sustained development based on the usage of
natural resources in a conscientious way while guarantying accessibility to these
resources for future generation.

Buenas prácticas
En el marco del programa Fiesta del Arbol se desarrolla la cooperación internacional
y multilateral. El copartícipe de la realización del proyecto en los años 2008–2010,
que cuenta con el apoyo de Islandia, Lichtenstein, Noruega, es la organización
social islandesa Skógræktarfélag Grindavíkur, que se ocupa de la plantación
y protección de árboles en Grindavik, ubicado en la parte sudeste de la isla. Como
otro ejemplo de buenas prácticas, podemos citar nuestra cooperación con los or-
ganismos de autogestión local en Polonia. Centro de Educación Ecológica de la
Jefatura de Distrito de Limanowa plantó 768 árboles en el año 2007. En esa
acción tomaron parte no sólo los niños y jóvenes, sino también empleados y miem-
bros del organismo local de autogestión. La Alcaldía de la ciudad de Koszalin,
en la V edición del programa, logró organizar al número más elevado de partici-
pantes: 3800 personas, entre otras personas del centro penitenciario y del Centro
de Formación de Fuerzas Aéreas.
Entramos en cooperación también con las empresas que introducen nuevas estra-
tegias y soluciones ecológicas y que participan en las actividades sociales relacio-
nadas con la protección del clima. Las empresas LeasePlan, Troton, Eco Service,
Comarch – copartícipes del programa Fiesta del Arbol, contribuyen con sus activi-
dades al aumento de la población de bosques en determinados terrenos y al me-
joramiento de la conciencia social en la materia de la importancia de la renovación
de bosques en la absorción de CO2. La cooperación, en el marco del programa
Fiesta del Arbol entre los sujetos de diferentes sectores inspira la confianza recípro-
ca y, además, ayuda a propagar la idea del desarrollo equilibrado y sostenible,
fundado en la explotación responsaable del medioambiente, que garantiza su con-
servación para las generaciones futuras.

Verkefnið Dagur trésins þróar gagnkvæmt alþjóðlegt samstarf. Klub Gaja, við fram-
kvæmd verkefnisins Dagur trésins á árunum 2008–2010 ásamt samvinnu við Ísland,
Lichtenstein og Noreg eru opinber samtök á Íslandi sem heita Skógræktarfélag
Grindavíkur sem sinnir vernd og gróðursetningu trjáa í Grindavík, staðsett á suðves-
turhluta eyjarinnar. Sem dæmi um góða starfshætti er sameiginlegt starf okkar og
staðbundinna ríkisstjórna. Miðstöð vistfræðilegrar fræðslu í Limanowo gróðurset-
ti 768 trjáplöntur árið 2007. Í gróðursetningarferli trjánna tóku ekki einungis börn
og unglingar þátt heldur einnig starfsmenn ríkisstjórnarinnar. Í fimmtu útgáfu verke-
fnisins átti Ráðhús Koszalin mestan fjölda þátttakenda eða 3800 þátttakendur, þar
á meðal úr fangelsum og þjálfunarmiðstöð flughersins.
Við vinnum einnig í samvinnu við fyrirtæki, sem kynna nýjar aðferðir, vistfræðilegar
lausnir og taka þátt í félagslegu starfi sem tengist verndun loftslagsbreytinga. Starf
LeasePlan, Troton, Eco Service og Comarch – samstarfsaðila verkefnisins Dagur
trésins leggja sitt að mörkum við að ná markmiðum um aukna skógrækt á ákveðnum
svæðum og að auka félagslega vitund um yfirvofandi hættur fyrir loftslagið sökum
skógeyðingar. Gagnkvæmt samstarf innan Dags trésins og efni á ýmsum sviðum
byggja upp fjárvörslusjóði og stuðla að útbreiðslu hugmynda um sjálfbæra þróun
sem byggist á notkun náttúruauðlinda á samviskusamlegan hátt og tryggir jafnframt
aðgang að þessum auðlindum fyrir komandi kynslóðir.
