Principal’s Message
Greetings Mighty Eagles,
We are only weeks away from the start of the fourth nine weeks. We are working extremely hard to ensure that all
students show the necessary growth for us to be successful. We will get that C or better this year, but it will take all of
us working together to do it. Therefore, we need your continued support in our efforts to become the best school that
Drew Hunter can be.
Please ensure that your children are present (AND ON TIME) daily, adhere to the rules and regulations of the school,
complete homework (and other) assignments, and stay encouraged. Join us in telling them that WE CAN SUCCEED, and
WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!
Thank you for you all that you do for Drew Hunter Middle. We could not exist without you.
Mr. Young

Did You Know……………
In 1926, Carter Godwin Woodson established Negro History Week, which later became
Black History Month. The month of February was chosen in honor of Fredrick Douglass
and Abraham Lincoln, who were both born in that month.
Before beccoming a professional baseball player, Jackie Robinson played football for the
Honolula Bears.
Black History Month honors the contributions of African Americans to U.S. history. Did you
know that Madam C.J. Walker was America’s first woman to become a self-made
millionaire, or that George Washington Carver was able to derive nearly 300 products
from the peanut?
Character Word of the month:
RESPONSIBILITY: doing what you are expected to do. BEING DEPENDABLE: keeping our Promises.
ACCOUNTABLE: Worthy of one’s trust.
Students and teachers are the future hope of any country.
The country’s development and progress depends upon students and teachers. Students and teachers are the
backbone of a nation.
There are many responsibilities of a good student and a good teacher. The major one is that the student and teacher
should take a special interest in his/her studies and duties respectively. Also, a good student and teacher should engage
in additional activities such as: social activities, honor clubs and organizations and sports. Lastly, students and teachers
should engage in activities to help fellow students and teachers, such as boy scouts, girl scouts and other community
clubs and organizations.
A good student and a good teacher should also make efforts to develop a sense of responsibility in their fellow students
and teachers.
Also, a good student and a good teacher should be loyal and obedient to their counter-part because “obedience is the
key to the door of success.” And a good student and a good teacher must know the true meaning of trust, self-esteem,
obedience and confidence.
Therefore, as counselors, we will continue in our efforts to encourage the development of responsibility in our schools.
