Team Dynamics That Get Results
Team dynamics defined as the motivating and driving forces that propel a team toward its goal and mission.
Inquiry points;
• Think about your most recent team based work project you were involved in. If you cannot think of a team project, think about your most recent observation of a work team involved in planning, meeting, or developing a goal.
• On a scale of 0 – 10 with 0-being Obviously NO, and 10-being Obviously YES; This team has the necessary people, intelligence and resources to complete this project successfully in the time-frame created?
• What would 1 point higher on the same scale look like i.e. what would be happening instead, more of, how would your work be better?
• Knowing what you know about High Performance Teams (teams that have accomplished the goal while remaining collegial, professional and you would work with again with no hesitation) What does that team have, even just a little bit, that this team has in common?
• Imagine that when you leave work today, and go home to do whatever you do after work. Suddenly, while you were gone from the office, all the people on the team became experts in Team Dynamics-BUT you did not know because you were not there to observe this change. What is the first thing you would notice about the team that makes you think, Something here is different and I like this.
• How will you know; what measures of success either in the feeling of the work getting done, seeing the work getting done, measurable improvements in quality of work, etc… that the team is working well together?
• Which of the above areas can you impact the fastest?

WHAT?o Thinking about the list of 10 Team Dynamics That get Results, which two does your team do
really well? o Which two could be better?
SO WHAT?o With the two that your team does really well – Describe what it is that they do so well
about those two Team Dynamics. In detail what is it that makes those two successful? What else? What else? What else? What else? What else?
o With the two that could be better, what is currently happening that is making them as good as they are? What is keeping the two where they are as opposed to worse? What is working so far? What else? What else? What else? What else? What else?
NOW WHAT?o With the two that your team does really well – what would be happening (how would work
get done, communication, meetings etc…) if they were just a little better? o How would you know that this “better” is happening?o Is any of this “better” happening even a little bit already? o With the two that could be better – How did you get the two Team Dynamics that the team
does really well to be so good? o Can you do the same thing with the two that could be better? How? o Using what you know about yourself and your team, what steps are needed to improve the
team dynamics? Once this is happening – what will the team be doing instead?
