Transforming lives in rural Ladakh
LadakhMeans "land of high passes”
Renowned for its remote mountain beauty and Buddhist culture
Also called "Little Tibet", as it has strongly been influenced by the culture of Tibet
A majority of Ladakhis are Tibetan Buddhist, with most of the rest being Shia Muslims
The cheerful and gentle Ladakhis have made the region very popular with the tourist with their hospitality
Altitude: Over 10000 ft
Temperature: -40OC to +30OC, in inhabited areas
Tourist Influx: 125,000 every year
Only two roads go into Ladakh, one from Srinagar and the other from Manali and
both are open only 5-6 months of the year for civilian movement
Commercial Airlines to Leh (highest commercial airport in the world) are the only
connectivity at a very high cost throughout the year
Schools: 963, spread over 60,000 sq.km. across two districts– Leh District: 369 schools in 6 blocks – Kargil District: 594 schools in 7 blocks
93% schools are rural and extremely remote and are cut-off for 6 months in a year
Extremely low student strengths and PTRs as low as 6 or 7

To bring quality education to every remote village of Ladakh and give each of its children the same opportunities of enhanced learning as his urban counterparts
To focus attention on these ignored schools by harnessing the interests of visiting trekkers and travelers to volunteer at these remote schools
To connect the various stakeholders of the eco-system, the schools, villagers, the visiting travellers, the administration and other development organizations towards a larger good
Our Vision Our Vision
At 17000 ft, travelling that extra mile is just a part of
