"By the term 'perseverance of the saints' we mean that if a person is once saved he is always saved and can never slip from God's saving grace. When we confess the perseverance of the saints we confess that there are no ifs or buts about the certainty of our salvation. What a glorious comfort the knowledge of this fact brings to the one who is a Christian. For he can know that if he really has put his trust in Jesus as Savior, then he can never slip away and be lost, whether because of his own sinful weakness and tendency to unbelief, or because of the wiles of the Devil" (Dr. Edwin H. Palmer, The Five Points of Calvinism, p. 59).

Canon of the Synod of Dordt (1618-1619)

"But God, who is rich in mercy, according to His unchangeable purpose of election, does not wholly withdraw the Holy Spirit from His own people even in their grievous falls; nor suffers them to proceed so far as to lose the grace of adoption and forfeit the state of justification, or to commit the sin unto death or against the Holy Spirit; nor does He permit them to be totally deserted, and to plunge themselves into everlasting destruction."

John 3:16 ESV "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

Does man have free will?Salvation -- UNconditional?Biblical warnings?

Choose today whom you will serve … But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15 NLT

Jesus Christ became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him.Hebrews 5:9 NLT

Watch out, brothers, so that there won't be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart that departs from the living God. But encourage each other daily … so that none of you is hardened by sin's deception. So be careful. When you think you

are standing firm, you might fall. 1 Cor. 10:12

Page 12: 100912 Flower Child Theology

I have this against you: you have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember then how far you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. Otherwise, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place--unless you repent.

Azariah said to King Asa of Judah: “The Lord is with you when you are with Him. And if you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.”

Page 14: 100912 Flower Child Theology

David tells Solomon: “If you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.”

Page 15: 100912 Flower Child Theology

What if we keep sinning on purpose? What if we do it even after we know the truth? Then there is no offering for our sins. All we can do is to wait in fear for God to judge. His blazing fire will burn up his enemies.

Eternal Life is conditioned

upon knowing God.

This is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and the One You have sent--Jesus Christ.

John 17:3 HCSB

Can Someone

Forget God?

Page 17: 100912 Flower Child Theology

Does a young woman forget to put on her jewels? Does a bride forget to put on her bridal attire? But my people have forgotten me for more days than can even be counted. Jeremiah 2:32

Psalms 9:17 ESV The wicked shall return to Sheol, all the nations that forget God.

Psalm 9:17 ESV

Page 19: 100912 Flower Child Theology

And when people escape from the wickedness of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then get tangled up and enslaved by sin again, they are worse off than before.

Page 20: 100912 Flower Child Theology

It would be better if they had never known the way to righteousness than to know it and then reject the command they were given to live a holy life.

Page 21: 100912 Flower Child Theology

They prove the truth of this proverb: "A dog returns to its vomit." And another says, "A washed pig returns to the mud."

Eternal Life is conditioned

upon being in God’s

kingdom.Unless a person is born from above, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

John 3:3 NETCan someone be cast out?

Page 23: 100912 Flower Child Theology

The Lord informs us that on the last day “The Son of Man will send out his angels. They will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin. They will also get rid of all who do evil. They will throw them into the blazing furnace. There people will sob and grind their teeth.”

Matthew 13:47-50

Page 26: 100912 Flower Child Theology

For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God's household.

Page 27: 100912 Flower Child Theology

And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those who have never obeyed God's Good News?

Page 28: 100912 Flower Child Theology

And also, "If the righteous are barely saved, what will happen to godless sinners?"

Page 29: 100912 Flower Child Theology

Eternal Life is conditioned upon having

one’s name in the Book of

Life.Life is “only for those whose names are written in the Book of Life.” Rev. 21:27

Can a name be erased?

Page 30: 100912 Flower Child Theology

But the LORD replied to Moses, "No, I will erase the name of everyone who has sinned against Me.

You can’t erase what isn’t there!

Page 31: 100912 Flower Child Theology

Jesus tells those in Sardis, “he who overcomes shall thus be clothed in white garments, and I will not erase his name from the book of life.”

Revelation 3:5 NASB

Page 32: 100912 Flower Child Theology

If anyone’s name was NOT found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
