DoNotProcrastinateYourbiggestenemyisyourself.Youhavethetendencytoputoffyourdailytasksaslongyoucan,onlybecauseyoucanandareableto.Youneedsetarealisticbeginningdateandanenddateforthetask,getthetaskcompletedandmoveontothenexttaskandsoforth.Setachievabletargetsandrewardyourselfwhentargetshavebeenachieved.Donotprocrastinate.Getitdone.

FollowYourHeartFollowingyourheartisimperativeandamust,asabusinessowner.Abusinessownerwhodoesnothavehisheartentwinedandentangledinhisbusinessoperationswillsoonhaveafailedbusiness.Mostbusinessownerswhofollowtheirheartarepassionateaboutwhattheyaredoingandarebetterabletomakevaluablebusinessdecisions.Havingthatinnateburningpassioninsideofyouwillneverleadyoutodefeat,foryouwilltoildailyasabusinessownertoensureyourbusiness’success.Managingabusinesswithoutpassionwillsoonleaveyouexhausted.

Eat,SleepandBreatheYoumusteat,sleep,andbreatheyourbusiness.Thisisafigurativetermandnotmeanttobetakenliterally.Howeveryouneedtounderstandtheterminologyasitrelatestoyourbusiness.Yourbusinessmustbecometheessenceofyourbeing.Allyourwakingandsleepingthoughtsmustbeonyourbusiness.Theremustneverbeadowntimeinadaywhenyoustopthinkingaboutyourbusiness.Asyouawakeyourfirstthoughtsmustbeonhowtomakeyourbusinessevenmoreprofitable,whileyoueat,yourbrainmustbeconditionedtothinkofyourtasksahead,andwhileyoucomfortyourselfwithsleep,yourlastthoughtsbeforebedshouldbesayingthankyoutogodforwhatyouareblessedwithandyourbusinessnextsteps.

CashFlowPrettysimpleconcept,eventheyoungestentrepreneurwilltellyou,withoutacash-flowthereisnobusiness.Moneyneedstocomeintothebusinessintheformofrevenue(i.e.moneyobtainedfromsalesminusoperatingexpenses),andmoneyneedstoleavethebusinessintheformofitemspurchasedforthebusiness.Maintainingasteadycash-flowisdetrimentaltothesuccessofabusiness.

BePositiveAsyourbusinessgrowsandestablishesitself,youwillsoonrealizeyourcircleoffriendswouldstarttodwindle,shrink,andfalloffonebyone,andpossiblydisappear.Similartoaflowerlosingitspetalsonebyone,youwillbelosingyourfriendsonebyone.Somefriendsmaynotunderstandwhyyouareengrossedinyourbusinessandwhyyoucannotaffordthetimetobeawayfromthebusiness,basedonitsoperatingstructure.Otherfriendsmaydespiseyouandyournewfounddrivetoachieve,andsomemaysecretlywishyoufail.Donotletthebehaviorfromyourcircleoffriendsdauntyouandbringyoudownandmakeyoufeeldepressed.Youhavetokeepapositivementalityandnevertakeyoureyesofthefinishline.Therewillbedayswhenyouwouldwanttogiveup,butkeeponsowingtheseedsofbusinessgrowthandsoonyouwillreapthefruitsofyourlabour.

Focus!Focus!Focus!Therearedaysyourmindwillworkandtherearedaysyourmindwillfeellazy,burntoutandexhausted.Onsomedaysyouwillfeelcompletelyoutofenergy,andyourmoodandpersonalitywillchange,youwillbecomeagitated,angry,overwhelmedandextremelylostduetoexhaustionandfrustration.Butyoucannotgiveuporfeelsorryforyourself,youneedtodivorceyourselffromyourenvironment,findasafespace,spendafewminutesre-evaluatingyoursituation,andthenapproachyourbusinesswiththeabilitytoundertakeonetaskatatimeandseeituntilcompletion.Focusyourmindandyourthoughtsonyourbusinessanditsbusinessgrowth,themoreyouhoneyourabilitiestofocusonyourbusinesstasks,thelesslikelyyouaretostrayfromyourbusiness,andlesslikelytocreateyourownfrustrations.

ChooseYourNetworkThesooneryougrasptheconceptthatalotofthesenetworkingeventsareawasteofyourvaluabletimeandresources,thesooneryouwillbeabletounderstandthatyouneedtochooseyournetworkswisely.Sadlymanybusinessownershaveneverquantifiedindollarsthebilledcosttoattendanetworkingevent,beitaluncheon,adinnerorbreakfastmeeting.Asabusinessownerweneedtoassignadollarvalue(labour,transportation,attire,parking,stationerycost)forattendingtheseworkshopsandassessitsvaluetoourbusinessgrowth.Findthateventthatwillbringyouvalue.Definewhatvalueyouanticipatetoreceiveforattendingthateventandhaveaplannedoutcomebeforeyouattendthatnetworkingevent.Youneedtoattendthenetworkingeventyouchoosewhichwillprovidethemostvaluetoyou.Noteverynetworkingthatyouareinvitedto,meansyouhavetoattend.
