Church of Mahomet

As many of you have already seen via Facebook, email, and at church on Sunday, the nursery construction is nearing completion. If you havenʼt had a chance to see it stop in and see it, please do, because it is exciting! Even if you donʼt have kids walking through the rooms will give you a sense of how to pray. This is important because we donʼt do anything without asking god in prayer for guidance. So join me in praying all the more now time how God will use this space for His glory! Just this past week we had someone commit to pay for the Bibles we will make available to this ministry. PRAISE GOD! We also purchased new teaching materials from the Gospel Project that will make the gospel teaching even clearer and more intentional. This material includes activities, worship, and lessons just like a VBS, but this one runs all year long in our Nursery area!Considering we have over 98 kids in AWANA and new families in the church with children every weekend, I believe that God is giving us a taste, just a taste, of what is to come! So we need to prepare NOW for the harvest. I want to thank every one of you who came andand shared in painting, pulling up carpet, layingconcrete and loving one another in service. In the same way, thank you to ever one of youthat prayed for the ways Jesus will be found in the hearts of kids through this revitalized and re-engaged ministry.

From the message “A GREAT Reformation” 10/18/2015

Isaiah 43:4Because you are precious in my eyes, and honored, and I love you,

When the Apostle John said, "God is love," (1 John 4:8) he no doubt meant that no matter how we look at God as we study Him, no matter how we peel back His personhood, we will never arrive at a layer which is not love. God is love and therefore His every action is brought forth in love.

Please don’t read this too quickly or with a type of Hallmark sentimentality because this is more majestic than you know, more marvelous than you can fathom, and greater than you can comprehend.

God is saying here that He orchestrates and moves all of history to call back the blind, deaf, broken, mute, and captive because they are, we are, precious in His eyes (bought at a great price), honored (bestowed a position of honor in Christ) and he loves us (Ephesians 2:4 “with a GREAT love”).

That is why in Isaiah 43:1 we read “for I have redeemed you”. The Hebrew word for “redeemer” means to be a “kinsman redeemer”. This is one who is a near relative, in this case a Father, who could free family members and their property from bondage by paying their debts for them.

With this understanding we now can better grasp why God makes the next statement in verses 4-5:

Isaiah 43:4-5I give men in return for you, peoples in exchange for your life. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I give Egypt as

your ransom, Cush and Seba in exchange for you.

These lands are the very territories that God gave to Cyrus the Great of Persia as a ransom to pay for the release and redemption of His people that we will see in Isaiah 45. In an even greater and more spectacular way God provided Jesus Christ as a ransom for ALL.

Matthew 20:28even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Because of this we live in the fulfillment of God’s glorious promise revealed in Romans 8:

Romans 8:15-17We have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

We are sons and daughters, and He is our Father. The word “Abba” here is the nearest and closest one can come to express Fatherly love in the original language. He does this because you were created, formed, called by His Name “love”. Isaiah 43:7“everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”

Note that not just some, but “everyone” is included in this promise. Because of that we are to be living advertisements for how GOOD God is to people who deserve the exact opposite to “everyone”. God’s purpose as He moves history along is to bring the glory of His salvation into the lives of those who don’t know Him, despite what they deserve, so that above all else He is delighted in.

Ephesians 1:4-5to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.

I love how Ephesians 1:5 instructs us, the beloved (loved by God) that praising His glorious Name brings blessing to us because it reminds us of His GREAT love.

The Elders of CEFCM have been very busy behind the scenes meeting, praying, discussing, and discerning Godʼs leading in the life of our church. In addition we have been repenting and looking at ways that we have not led well enough and can lead and love people better. On October 25th and November 1st, at 10:45am, we will be taking a short break from the Prophet Isaiah, and presenting two messages which will clarify the vision and mission of our church going forward. The Elders want to encourage you to be there for both services so that you can hear and see what God has been birthing. We are praying that together we will see God grow His vision in greater and greater ways.

In Addition...There are regularly scheduled Elderʼs Meeting every month. If you need prayer or an opportunity to discuss an issue with the Eldership please feel free to attend this meeting by emailing the Elders at: [email protected]

Did you know we have a Faith Community Nurse here at CEFC?Hi—my name is Lois Reed and I am the Faith Community Nurse here at CEFCM! What is that, you say? I am specially trained through a nationally recognized program and here to be a resource and support to you, yes, YOU! In all the stages of life there are challenges that come upon us; they can be financial, relational, spiritual and related to our physical and emotional health.  God has given me the privilege to have access to resources to help our congregation and community—to pray for you, to direct you to supports that can help. So far I have been blessed to give out resources to parents navigating adolescence, people facing new diagnoses, found resources for families who are impacted by substance or domestic abuse, sources of free health care for those without insurance…these are just a few things that can possibly help. Please, if I can aid you or your family in anyway, email me at [email protected]. And PLEASE come up and say “Hi” on any given Sunday! I am excited to serve you and your family.
