Chasing a dream while running from broken relationships with his father and Shannon, his childhood sweetheart, Bart hits the road in an old decrepit tour bus with his new band MERCY ME—named for his grandmother’s favorite ex-pression. With the guidance of a grizzled music-industry insider, the band begins a journey that none of them could ever have imagined. A gripping reminder of the power of forgiveness, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE I CAN ONLY IMAGINE I CAN ONLY IMAGINE beautifully illustrates that no one is ever too far from God’s love—or from an eternal home in Heaven. DDDIVINEIVINEIVINE MMMERCYERCYERCY SSSUNDAYUNDAYUNDAY ~ A~ A~ APRILPRILPRIL 28, 201928, 201928, 2019 FACTS ABOUT THE FEAST OF MERCY

St. Faustina’s Diary contains many passages in which Our Lord is quoted as requesting that a “Feast of Mercy” be officially established in the Church. Jesus declared: This Feast emerged from the very depths of My mercy, and it is confirmed in the vast depths of My tender mercies. …It is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. …I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter of all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy.

Jesus stated: The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion on that day shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment due. … Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet.

But the Lord also made it clear that He expects us to let that mercy flow through us to others- through our actions, our words, and our prayers. His words to Sister Faustina are very strong and leave no room for misinterpretation: Yes, the first Sunday after Easter is the Feast of Mercy, but there must also be acts of mercy…I demand from you deeds of mercy, which are to arise out of love for Me. You are to show mercy to

your neighbors always and everywhere. You must not shrink from this or try to excuse or absolve yourself from it …even the strongest faith is of no avail without works (742) …if a soul does not exercise mercy in some way it will not obtain My mercy on the day of judgment (1317)

PREPARATION Recitation of Novena Recite the Divine Mercy Chaplet once each day for nine days; begin on Good Friday. On Mercy Sunday 1. Celebrate the Feast of Mercy on the first Sunday after Easter. 2. Be truly sorry for sins and go to confession (20 days be-fore, on, or after Divine Mercy Sunday). 3. GRACES Plenary Indulgence

Our Lord reminds us through St. Faustina that- “… mankind will not have peace until it turns with trust to

My mercy.” “… he who refuses to pass through the door of My

mercy must pass through the door of My justice.” “… whoever approaches the Fount of Life on this day will be granted complete remission of sins & punishment”

TTTHEHEHE FFFACEACEACE OFOFOF MMMERCYERCYERCY Since his election to the papacy, Pope Francis has inspired millions by urging us to

embrace mercy, ultimately revealed in the face of Christ. Now comes an extraordinary new film on this powerful message that brings hope, healing, and forgiveness to a broken world. Narrated by Jim Caviezel, The Face of Mercy explores the history and relevance of Divine Mercy in our turbulent times. Watch its story unfold, from an unpretentious Polish nun who experienced powerful visions of a merciful God, to her countryman Saint John Paul II who propelled the message of Divine Mercy onto the world stage, and the Year of Mercy bestowed upon the Church by Pope Francis. Filmed in stunning 4K and seamlessly weaving together theology and history with modern testimonials and visual effects, this stirring film creates a remarkable tapestry of what constitutes the face of mercy in our modern world. Meet the woman who found freedom in forgiveness after seeing her family wiped out by genocide; the former-NFL linebacker who walked away from football to share Christ's mercy with the homeless; the baseball player who traded MLB ambitions for the monastery; the priest with a drug-dealing past, and the young widow who chose mercy towards her husband's killer. These moving testimonies will remind us all that Divine Mercy is not just a devotion of the past or some abstract theology—it is alive, it is present, and it will transform the world. This movie is not rated, but was created with an adult audience in mind. It contains scenes of war and historic violence. We would recommend Parental Guidance and that parents preview it before watching with children. Run Time: 58 minutes

He is Risen, Alleluia! Happy Easter!

Recently I visited a man in the hospital who was recovering from various illnesses and he was obviously somewhat down in the dumps. I noticed after we prayed together that the room was so dark. I looked over at the window and sure enough the shades were completely down. I asked the gentleman if I could open the shades to let the light in...He agreed...and within seconds we had a space filled with light, which in turn brought hope and a smile. This is the power of Easter! The Easter message is a message that brings light, joy, and hope! No matter where each of us is at in our journey, one thing is important for us all... “Let the Easter light shine in our lives!” It has the power to transform every aspect of our lives. As we celebrate Easter in these coming days, may it be a great opportunity to let the light of Christ shine in those dark spaces of our lives, and from there, see how this light can change our lives and the world for the better.
