With no school this coming Friday due to parent-teacher

conferences, it is a good day for me to travel again down to

Charleston Missouri. As many of you know, when I was as-

signed to St. David in Arnold, I started doing prison ministry.

Six years ago I began visiting an individual who at that time was facing a death sentence for murder and was changed to

life without parole. Visiting hours are very limited and to

make it a worthwhile visit Mass will be at 6:00 a.m. on

Friday. Have a great week. Father Rich

BAPTISMS

A Valentine Blessing for Married Couples: Thank you for this life together, for the gift of love, and the blessing of our marriage. We give you praise for the joy you've poured into our hearts through this love we share. Thank you for the contentment of family, and the happiness of our home. May we always treasure the experience of loving each other in this holy union. Help us to remain forever committed to our vows, those we made to each other, and to you, Lord. Let us always be a support to one another—a friend to listen and encourage, a refuge from the storm, and most importantly, a warrior in prayer. In Jesus Name, Amen

Today’s Gospel is the third Sunday in a row that we have heard from Matthew, Chapter 5. Two weeks ago, we heard the beatitudes, last Sunday, Jesus said that we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. Today, Jesus tells us that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will not enter the Kingdom of heaven. Then he talks about some behaviors that we should stay away from. 1. Don’t break the least of the commandments and don’t teach others to break them. 2. Don’t be angry with your brother. 3. Don’t look upon someone of the opposite sex lustfully. 4. Don’t swear at all; not by heaven, not earth, nor Jerusalem, nor your head. Let your “yes mean “yes” and your “no” mean “no”. These were just some of the things that he talked about. Jesus, with some of the these examples, tells us that we have to be careful with how we live our lives. We have to be examples of His love. Be the best version of ourselves that we can be. Rejoice and be glad. You have been

chosen to be the light of the world. - Deacon Neal P.S. The Knights of Columbus would like to thank all that came to the Consecration to the Holy Family prayer service last Monday. It was well attended and we hope that all experienced a deeper awareness of the power that each family has in their role in the Body of Christ. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, pray for us!
