    November 2 All Saints SundayScripture: Matthew 5:1-12I John 3:1-3Sermon: What Makes a Saint?Theme: Short answer: God makes a saint. Long answer: we become saints through learning to live as Gods childrenand by letting ourselves be formed in the image of Christ. The beatitudes and their statement of who is blessed is adescription of the kind of life that forms one as a saint.Video: Bill. W hite roses are a theme for the remembrance of those who have died. Images of saints (there are somegreat modern icons that would work well). Meditate on t he images provided in the beatitudes

    Music: Opening Hymn 711 For All the Saints, idea: Round Behold what Love (I John 3:1)Note: We will do c ommunion with sung responses again. Lets use the same music, only pick up the speed (talk to meif this is a problem for the c hoir)

    And when the strifeis fierce, the warfare long,steals on the ear

    the distant triumph song,and hearts are brave again,and arms are strong.Alleluia,Alleluia!

    From earth's wide bounds,from ocean's farthest coast,through gates of pearl streams

    in the countless host,singing to Father,Son, and Holy Ghost:Alleluia,Alleluia!

    More like you, Jesus, more like you.

    Fill my heart with your desireto make me more like you.

    More like you, Jesus, more like you.Touch my lips with holy fire

    and make me more like you.Lord, you are my mercy.Lord, you are my grace.All my deepest sins

    have forever been erased.Draw me in your presence.

    Lead me in your ways.I long to bring you glory

    in righteousness and praise.

    Shall We GatherAt The River

    Shall we gather at the river,where bright angel feet have trod,with its crystal tide forever flowing

    by the throne of God?Yes, we'll gather at the river,the beautiful, the beautiful river;

    gather with the saints at the riverthat flows by the throne of God.

    On the margin of the river,

    washing up its silver spray,we will walk and worship ever,all the happy golden day.Yes, we'll gather at the river,the beautiful, the beautiful river;gather with the saints at the riverthat flows by the throne of God.

    Ere we reach the shining river,

    lay we every burden down;grace our spirits will deliver,and provide a robe and crown.Yes, we'll gather at the river,the beautiful, the beautiful river;gather with the saints at the riverthat flows by the throne of God.

    Soon we'll reach the shining river,soon our pilgrimage will cease;soon our happy hearts will quiver

    with the melody of peace.Yes, we'll gather at the river,the beautiful, the beautiful river;

    gather with the saints at the riverthat flows by the throne of God.
